Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Pitiful One Killed by Uncle (Part 18)

The eldest aunt was furious, her anger was bottled up inside, yet what others said made sense.

If the day came when Liu Tiezhu’s family was starving, could they really stand by without helping?

Of course, they couldn’t just ignore it, but helping would only bring them frustration.

Liu Tielin and his wife were ungrateful, they weren’t worth helping, but they were of the same clan and origin, so not helping wasn’t an option, otherwise, they’d be ridiculed by others in the village.

Yuan Chun walked over, gently tugged on her aunt’s clothes, and said crisply, ”Auntie, although Uncle and Auntie have been unkind and tried to scheme for our house, he is, after all, my grandfather’s son. I’m willing to help him. However, I’m just a child and can’t help much. I’ll just lend him some grain.”

Yuan Chun would lend food to an enemy?

What a pipe dream!

It was just for show to the villagers.

In order to silence the gossip, and to prevent her and her granduncle’s family from being talked about, Yuan Chun wanted to put on a show in the village.

Also to build a good reputation.

In two years, when the collective production team is established, such things won’t happen anymore.

In two years, everyone would eat by their labor. By then... no matter how Liu Tiezhu’s family was doing, no one would blame her or her granduncle’s family anymore.

After all, if you eat by your labor and are hungry, it’s your ineptitude, laziness, and failure to earn work points, and the food others worked hard to earn with their work points, why should it be given to you for free?

When the person who delivered the grain returned, it was already dark.

The next day, after breakfast, Yuan Chun went to her eldest uncle and asked him to help carry the sack of corn she prepared last night, and make a grand display of sending it to Liu Tiezhu’s house.

Yuan Chun cheerfully said, ”Uncle, I heard your family’s grain was stolen, and you’re going hungry, so I brought a sack of corn for you. Add some sweet potatoes and napa cabbage, cook some corn porridge, and it’s enough for your family to eat for two or three months.”

Liu Tiezhu saw there was only one sack of corn and was dissatisfied, he opened his mouth to ask Yuan Chun to bring a few more sacks, but he found himself unable to speak a word.

Liu Tiezhu panicked, pointed to his mouth, and silently cried out.

What happened to me, am I mute now?

Ah, I don’t want to be mute.

I... I was wrong, I shouldn’t have been greedy, shouldn’t have been dissatisfied, shouldn’t have harbored ill intentions towards Yuan Chun. Father, please spare me, I beg of you, I swear, I will never bully Yuan Chun or take advantage of her again.

Father, I’m begging you.

Liu Tiezhu, as if mad, suddenly knelt down and kowtowed.

Father, I’ll let Yuan Chun take the grain back, I won’t eat Yuan Chun’s grain, boohoo, father, for the sake of your cowardly son, spare me, stop tormenting me.

”Father, just... cough cough...”

Suddenly, Liu Tiezhu shouted out loudly, startling everyone who looked at him as if he were crazy.

Liu Tiezhu was embarrassed, but... who could understand the feeling of being choked by a ghost, unable to speak?

”Yuan Chun, you live your life. Uncle is unable to help you, how could I accept your grain for free? Take it back. Uncle doesn’t want it, Uncle will find a way to borrow some grain.”

Liu Tiezhu’s heart was bleeding.

Having to painfully push away food that came to his mouth, this heartache wouldn’t let him sleep tonight.

Ge Cuilan, seeing the food disappearing, refused to accept it. She put her hands on her hips and shouted loudly, ”No! We can’t take it back, why shouldn’t we accept it?”
