Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 52: Chapter 52: The Pitiful Child Killed by Her Uncle 8

”Yuan Chun, my dear, you might not know yet, but your second uncle’s house was robbed. The thieves stole all the savings that your second uncle and aunt have accumulated over the years. Last year, the cotton your second uncle grew was also stolen, about thirty jins, enough to make several new quilts. Now that it’s gone, who knows if it can be recovered.”

It’s definitely not going to be found.

It’s lying in her space where no one can find it.

To avoid her second uncle and aunt coming after her, Yuan Chun didn’t stay to see the drama and pulled Cheng Fang to head home.

Cheng Fang helped her chop the Chinese cabbage in the yard, while she went to the kitchen to boil some young corn, and once it was cooked, she invited Cheng Fang to eat together.

The little girl was gnawing on the corn, her cheeks puffed out, and she gave him a slight smile, her eyes curving into crescent moons, adorable and cute.

Cheng Fang thought, this is such a well-behaved little sister.

Very well-behaved indeed.

What should he do, he thought?

He wanted to cuddle and keep warm with his sister.

He wanted to acknowledge her as his sister.

Whatever he thought, he said, ”Yuan Chun, would you like to be my sister? This way, we won’t be orphans; I have a sister, and you have a brother.”

”Sure.”

Turning him from short-term free labor into long-term free labor, she gladly agreed.

”Brother, you eat too.”

She generously handed him an ear of corn, placing it in his hand.

Cheng Fang’s face was full of corn crumbs as he chewed, laughing happily, ”Sister, if you like eating young corn, let’s pick some more tomorrow. The ones in my field were planted late, so they’re more tender than others, and very tasty.”

”Okay.”

Yuan Chun smiled with her eyes curved.

In the afternoon, Cheng Fang didn’t go home; he continued helping Yuan Chun chop the Chinese cabbage in the yard and also taught her how to dry the cabbage and pickle it to make sauerkraut.

He also helped turn over her vegetable plot.

Seeing how hard he worked, Yuan Chun kept him for dinner, where she specially made a plate of stir-fried potato slices with bacon and a bowl of cabbage stewed with vermicelli.

Cheng Fang hadn’t eaten meat since New Year’s Eve at the old village chief’s house and had almost forgotten the taste.

Unexpectedly, his sister was so generous that she was willing to make meat for him to eat.

Touched, he said to his sister, ”Tomorrow, I’ll come help you pull the radishes. They don’t need to be dried; just dig a pit and bury them with soil, and when you dig one out to eat, it’ll be as fresh as new.”

Yuan Chun picked a few pieces of bacon for him, agreeing with a smile, being obedient and cute, instantly capturing Cheng Fang’s young heart.

He treated his sister even better.

The next day, after breakfast, Little Yuan Chun carried a small basket and went to the field.

This time, she didn’t go to Cheng Fang’s field to pick corn; she went to her own field. However, she didn’t pick her own corn either but instead crossed from her field to the other side to her second uncle’s field. Seeing the young corn, she started picking and didn’t stop until she had stripped a large patch of her second uncle’s tender corn bare.

Meanwhile, in the Jade Gourd Space, there was now a small mountain of young corn. The delighted Little Yuan Chun hummed a tune as she walked.

laughed, ”Host, Liu Tiezhu and Ge Cuilan will cry again this time.”

They just lost a big sum of money and now also a large patch of crops. Hahaha...

Yuan Chun’s lips curled slightly, ”Losing some crops is nothing. The original owner wished for her second uncle’s family to be destitute, so I have to keep pushing.”

Approaching the village entrance, she saw a few elderly grandmothers chatting under the big Chinese scholar tree. Little Yuan Chun went over and greeted each sweetly, ”Great-grandma, second grandma, third aunt...”

”It’s Little Yuan Chun, off to the field to pick young corn again, huh?”

”Yuan Chun, you love eating young corn. Eat more these days; in a few days, it’ll be too old.”
