Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: The Pitiful Child Killed by Her Uncle 14

Within half an hour, Yuan Chun’s words had spread throughout the village.

When the Second Grandpa’s family heard about it, they came to ask her for clarification, afraid that she had been deceived.

Unable to lie to her concerned relatives, Little Yuan Chun told them the truth, ”Second Grandpa, Second Grandma, I said that on purpose. I’ve hidden my father’s pension. I heard my Second Uncle and Second Aunt’s money was stolen again, and I’m worried they’ll come to ask me for money. I don’t want to give them any money because they haven’t been good to me, so I said that.”

The Second Grandpa sighed, ”Your Second Uncle and Second Aunt aren’t good people. Don’t pay any attention to them. Whatever you do, don’t give them money, or else it’s like throwing meat buns to dogs, you’ll never get it back.”

”You’re a clever child,” Second Grandma praised, ”Coming up with such a solution. No matter how reckless your Second Uncle is, he wouldn’t dare go to the army.”

Second Grandma then told her two sons and daughters-in-law, ”Just act like you don’t know about the money and don’t mention it. Look after Little Yuan Chun more in the future, don’t let Tie Zhu and his wife bully her.”

”Mom, as long as we’re here, Liu Tiezhu and Ge Cuilan won’t dare to act rashly.”

When the Second Grandpa’s family was leaving, Yuan Chun ran to the kitchen and brought out a big bowl of spicy pickled radish she had made. ”I just made this. Have a taste, Second Grandpa and Second Grandma.”

”Good, good, good, Yuan Chun is so obedient and filial,” Second Grandma said fondly, wanting to take Little Yuan Chun home for dinner. Yuan Chun hesitated, ”Second Grandma, Cheng Fang will come later to learn to read with me, so I can’t go out.”

”Cheng Fang is such a pitiful child too. Teach him well.”

The Second Grandpa’s family left.

Cheng Fang returned from the fields, changed into clean clothes and shoes, and then took his books and notebooks to find Yuan Chun.

As he entered the door, he said, ”Yuan Chun, I heard on the way back that your Second Uncle and Second Aunt were injured and are in the county hospital. Is that true?”

”It’s true. My Second Uncle doesn’t have any money, and the Liu Family managed to scrape together ten yuan. But my Big Grandpa just delivered the money to the hospital and came back without staying to take care of my Second Uncle. Apparently, they’re not getting along.”

Liu Tielin is the Big Grandpa.

Cheng Fang: ”I know. I heard from Gou Dan’s dad that your Second Uncle wants you to give them money for their leg treatment, but your Big Grandpa disagrees.”

”Hmph, I don’t have any money, and even if I did, I wouldn’t spend it on them.”

Her little face puffed up in anger, cute as can be.

Liu Tiezhu and his wife were discharged from the hospital three days later. With one having an injured left leg and the other a right leg, both were tied and fixed with wooden sticks, and they were brought back by Liu Tielin using a cart.

It’s the farming off-season now, without much work in the fields, so many villagers went to see them.

Yuan Chun was busy weaving a basket, so she didn’t go.

In the evening, when her aunt came to keep her company, she told her, ”Your Second Aunt is really something, wanting you to serve her because she said Yu Zhu is still young and doesn’t know how to take care of people. Yu Zhu is only a year younger than you. If Yu Zhu doesn’t know how to serve, what makes her think you can? Asking a seven-year-old niece to take care of her, how could she even say such a thing.”

Yuan Chun asked with a smile, ”Aunt, so what happened? Why didn’t my Second Aunt call someone to fetch me later on?”

”Your Second Grandma was there at the time too. She could never bear to let you go take care of them, so she stopped it. You’re a child, you can’t support her, nor can you cook or do laundry, how could you take care of someone?”

Aunt paused for a moment, then added, ”Your Big Grandpa made them crutches. With those, they can walk on their own, so there’s no need for anyone to take care of them.”
