Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 147: Chapter 142: Outside Bishui City, the Insect Swarm Counterattacks

”Kill!”

Situ Ming roared as he fiercely slammed down the spear in his hand. It bombarded the hill-like Crab Demon, and the tremendous rebound force sent him staggering backward. However, the Crab Demon showed no reaction at all. Its massive body merely swayed before it continued charging at Situ Ming, brandishing a pair of giant pincers.

Amidst intense, booming sounds, they engaged in a chaotic brawl.

The greatest difference between humans and Demon Fiends was that Demon Fiends often possessed extremely massive physiques. Their powerful bodies granted them tremendous strength, and their Defense Power and other attributes almost entirely surpassed those of humans. Confronting them head-on was extremely difficult. With Situ Ming’s strength, amidst the surging Demon Tide, he could only barely hold off the most threatening Qi Sea Great Demon; he couldn’t stop the rest at all.

Atop the city walls, over a thousand Evil Suppression Bureau Army soldiers all had deathly pale faces. Yet, they did not dare halt their movements. They quickly cranked the Bed Crossbows, loading ten-foot-long Crossbow Arrows onto the bowstrings.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Dozens of Rune Crossbow Arrows shot out explosively. Carrying astonishing penetrative power, they effortlessly pierced through the charging Demon Fiends, the fletchings at their tails quivering. Even Qi and Blood Great Demons would find it hard to block them. However, the thousands of Evil Suppression Bureau Army soldiers on the walls did not cheer at this sight; instead, they trembled even more violently. There were only a few dozen Bed Crossbows across the entire city wall. Even if every single shot hit its mark, how many could they really kill?

”Form ranks! Engage the enemy!”

A military general shouted at the top of his lungs. From behind the walls, experts of the Demon Suppression Bureau occasionally rushed up to stand in strict formation, ready for battle. Zhao Zhenshan, Lin Jianqing, and the others all did the same.

No one bothered uttering words to boost morale. Because it was completely unnecessary. Demon Fiends were not humans. Once the city was breached, there would only be one outcome—the entire city would become food for the Demon Fiends!

Some people cast their gazes above the Bishui River.

Above the river’s surface, the Nine Heavens Sealing Demon Formation was tottering on the verge of collapse, as if it could shatter at any moment. The Bishui River Dragon King’s terrifying dragon body roared in the sky. Amidst the dragon’s roars, Demon Suppression General Chen Jianqiu was clearly at an absolute disadvantage, only managing to barely hold on. In the sky, the Wind and Thunder Insect Tide and the Flood Dragon Dao Soldiers were entangled in combat. Several massive Qi Sea Great Demons soared into the sky, engaging in a frenzied slaughter with the Thunder Roc and the Four-winged Black Thorn Eagle.

A rain of blood scattered down. Even many Heaven-Burning Fire Crows plummeted tragically from the sky. The entire battlefield had already reached a fever pitch; there were simply no remaining forces capable of reinforcing them.

”Ready Bow and Arrows! Fire!”

Atop the city walls, a Qi and Blood Realm general roared. After the first volley from the Bed Crossbows, there was no time for a second. Large swaths of aquatic Demon Fiends had already drawn near as a sparse volley of several hundred Arrows flew out. But when they landed on those massive aquatic Demon Fiends clad in carapaces, they merely caused superficial scratches. The creatures continued crawling toward the city walls. Everyone gripped their Weapons tightly, their eyes bloodshot as they prepared for the imminent life-and-death slaughter.

But in the next moment!

RUMBLE—

The ground several hundred meters in front of Bishui City suddenly caved in, revealing over a dozen massive sinkholes. Amidst waves of low roars, over a hundred Escape Armor Scorpions drilled out from within. From the subterranean caverns, units like Rapid Insects, cockroaches, Poison Burst Insects, and Thorn Snakes surged out madly, charging straight into the densely packed swarm of incoming Demon Fiends.

Amidst the hissing and roaring, the cockroaches spewed out large bursts of highly toxic liquid like high-pressure water cannons. Anyone touched by that toxic liquid would inevitably have their flesh and bones dissolved. The Thorn Snakes launched a sky full of sharp Bone Spikes from their mouths. Those foot-long Bone Spikes easily pierced through the Demon Fiends’ carapaces, tearing out large chunks of flesh and blood. These units, which had completed countless slaughters in battle, had already grown increasingly stronger. In an instant, they annihilated hundreds of Demon Fiends.

ROAR—

Amidst an earth-shattering roar, the Mountain-Splitting Demon King’s massive body drilled out from underground. With its head lowered and light flashing upon its white jade horn, it charged toward the giant crab fighting Situ Ming.

BOOM!

The giant crab, whose defenses Situ Ming couldn’t break even with all his might, was sent flying by the Mountain-Splitting Demon King on the spot. Even its hardest carapace was pierced through by the white jade horn, its life or death unknown. Having succeeded in one strike, the Mountain-Splitting Demon King showed no intention of stopping. Leading a massive horde of the Insect Swarm, it collided with the charging aquatic Demon Fiends, instantly setting off violent explosions.

Flesh and blood flew in all directions, intermingled with the booming detonations of Poison Burst Insects. The aquatic Demon Fiends charging toward Bishui City were completely intercepted beneath the city walls, engaging in a frenzied slaughter with the Insect Swarm.

”It’s the Qin Family’s War Beasts!”

”It’s reinforcements from the Qin Family! The Qin Family is an ally to our Demon Suppression Bureau!”

”I’ve seen those giant scorpions before! A few days ago, the Zhang Family’s Flying Ship was dragged away by these giant scorpions suddenly bursting from underground.”

”Peak of Qi Sea Realm Battle Beasts! To think the Qin Family actually has such foundations?”

Immediately, the city walls boiled over with excitement as everyone discussed the sight. Zhao Zhenshan, Lin Jianqing, and others who were relatively familiar with the Qin Family felt even more horrified in their hearts. They had already overestimated the Qin Family’s strength as much as possible. But the scene before them proved that they were still too naive.

The Insect Swarm pouring endlessly out of the subterranean caverns was as unshakeable as a black city wall, even showing a trend of pushing those aquatic Demon Fiends back.

”Look at the water too! There are War Beasts in the water as well, slaughtering those Demon Fiends!”

”Heavens! Is that a dragon?”

”The Qin Family also has dragons?”

Amidst the shocked voices, all the experts of the Demon Suppression Bureau atop the city walls looked toward the distant water surface, where the Bishui River suddenly began to churn violently.

Leading them was none other than the Flood Dragon King! The Flood Dragon King after undergoing its Insect Race transformation!

Not only had its size grown a full circle larger, but to prevent it from being recognized by the Bishui River Dragon King, Qin Yu had simply let the Insect Swarm carry out a deep modification and Enhancement on it. Not only did rows of sharp Bone Spikes—the signature of the Insect Race—appear along its spine, but even the Dragon Scales on its body now bore partial exoskeletal armor, making it look much bulkier and granting it far greater Defense Power.

Behind the Flood Dragon King were hundreds of Profound Flood Dragons, as well as a large number of Profound Armor Cyan Aos, Sharp-toothed Catfishes, and more. Under its leadership, they madly bit and tore at the aquatic Demon Fiends. The entire river instantly turned into a site of tyranny, dyed crimson with fresh blood.

How could ordinary Demon Fiends possibly be a match for the current Insect Swarm? Not to mention that their numbers were also vastly inferior. The Peak of Qi Sea Flood Dragon King, completely unmatched, simply steamrolled its way through, swimming toward the Nine Heavens Demon Suppression Array above the river’s surface.

”This is what you’ve been hiding? This hidden trump card of yours is far too exaggerated.”

On Qin Wenyuan’s elegant face beside Qin Yu, there was already an expression full of shock. In just a brief moment, thousands of the Insect Swarm had surged out from the subterranean caverns in front of Bishui City. They poured out continuously, as if they had no intention of stopping at all. They had actually pushed back the charging aquatic Demon Fiends.

Just from a rough estimate of the aquatic Insect Swarm attacking from another direction, Qin Wenyuan realized their numbers were no fewer than ten thousand! There was no telling how many more were hidden beneath the water! The entire battlefield had already become a warzone between the Insect Swarm and the Bishui River Demon Fiends!

”This little bit of strength is nothing,” Qin Yu chuckled lightly.

The Thunder Chasing Cloud Bow in his hand twanged continuously, firing out Arrows one after another like a torrential storm. With every arrow, a Demon Fiend was bound to fall. This was the best opportunity for the Insect Swarm to make their entrance! A single battle to secure victory. It could allow the Insect Swarm to break through their limits!

Yet, Qin Yu still felt it wasn’t enough.

He could feel the hot blood boiling in his heart. A violent Wind and Thunder Realm circulated around him, yet he remained just one final step away from the ultimate breakthrough. Merely drawing his bow and shooting Arrows from a distance was not enough. Qin Yu instantly understood this point.

The Thunder Roc Wings at his feet flapped as he stowed away the Thunder Chasing Cloud Bow. The Evil-breaking Saber appeared in his hand, and twelve Flowing Light Flying Sabers orbited rapidly around his body as he charged straight into the most intense battlefield of the Bishui River. There alone lay his opportunity for a breakthrough!
