Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 137: Chapter 132: Dragon Race and Great Wei, The Curtain Rises

”Three Elders, I’ve discovered an anomaly.”

Qin Yu strode into the courtyard and bowed to the three Elders. Given his status among the family Elders, he naturally had the privilege to meet them at any time.

”An anomaly? Is there something you don’t understand?” Qin Mohe looked up, his clear gaze falling on Qin Yu. He assumed Qin Yu had encountered a problem with the arrays and was ready to clear up his doubts.

Elders Qin Wenyuan and Qin Zhengyuan also looked over.

”No, Elder! It’s not about the arrays. I’ve discovered some anomalous intelligence,” Qin Yu said, shaking his head. He gave them a brief rundown of the Bishui River Dragon King’s situation before continuing with a grave expression. ”This is absolutely no coincidence! I’m afraid the Blood Demon Sect has already colluded with the Bishui River Dragon King. Once they activate the Blood Sacrifice Array at a crucial moment, it will likely trigger massive turmoil!”

”The Bishui River Dragon King? It seems he has almost been driven mad, to actually dare cooperate with the Blood Demon Sect.” Elder Qin Wenyuan looked grim.

”We need to make plans early. This Bishui City is no longer safe. With the Bishui River Dragon King’s power, he can unleash strength close to the Myriad Phenomena Realm while in the water! The auction is about to begin, and the Demon Suppression Bureau might not be able to hold them off,” Qin Zhengyuan said, his face also turning gloomy.

The Blood Demon Sect had already made secret preparations within the city. If they combined forces from the inside and outside at the critical moment, the Demon Suppression Bureau might not be able to defend the city, even with their warning.

”Elders, what exactly is the situation with this Bishui River Dragon King?” Qin Yu asked curiously, seeing that the three clearly knew some inside information.

The main units of the Insect Swarm were already transferring here, and the stealth forces had gathered around Bishui City early on. With ample preparation, he wasn’t particularly worried.

”Do you know the relationship between the Great Wei Court and the Dragon Race?” Qin Wenyuan asked, looking at Qin Yu.

”I do not.”

”I’ll explain it briefly, and you’ll understand.

”The Dragon Race is different from other Demon Race groups. Their faction is incredibly massive. Not only do they occupy the oceans, but they also exist in many major rivers within our Great Wei Court’s territory.

”Furthermore, they have an agreement with Great Wei and enjoy titles conferred by the Court!

”Legally speaking, that Bishui River Dragon King is a legitimate official of Great Wei!”

Qin Yu was left dumbfounded. This was truly beyond his expectations.

To think the Dragon Race and Great Wei had such a relationship!

”As for why such an agreement exists, it is no longer known,” Qin Wenyuan continued. ”Some say the Dragon Race once helped the Emperor of Great Wei establish the dynasty and wipe out other opposition.

”Others say the Dragon Race was too powerful, and Great Wei had no choice but to compromise.

”Because the relationship between the two isn’t exactly good, the Demon Suppression Bureau has the responsibility of monitoring the Dragon Race. Every year, the Dragon Race causes quite a bit of trouble in various places.

”Of course, none of that is important.

”What’s important is that the position of the Bishui River Dragon King is completely lawful within the Great Wei Court! And within the Dragon Race, his strength isn’t even considered great.”

A look of realization flashed in Qin Yu’s eyes. Combining this with some of his previous intelligence, he could roughly guess the situation.

”A century ago, the Bishui River Dragon King married a Dragon Maiden from the Canglan River Dragon Palace as his Dragon Consort. The power of the Canglan River Dragon Palace is vastly superior to his.

”Since then, over the past hundred-odd years, all of the Bishui River Dragon King’s offspring—aside from those borne by that Dragon Consort—began to suffer mishaps one by one.

”Among the major families in Yunlong County, this is no secret.”

When Elder Qin Wenyuan finished speaking, Qin Yu wasn’t overly surprised.

There was nothing new under the sun. It was nothing more than a struggle for power and profit. Humans weren’t the only ones who did such things. Any intelligent lifeform would do the same, without exception!

He had set his sights on this ten-thousand-mile stretch of the Bishui River, and other factions would naturally covet it too. What he hadn’t anticipated was that this Bishui River Dragon King actually had an ’official post’!

”His offspring were slaughtered, so he colluded with the Blood Demon Sect to strike back in defiance?” Qin Yu shook his head slightly. It sounded pitiful.

However, it wasn’t a valid reason for sympathy. From what he knew, this Bishui River Dragon King was no saint either. The human cities and villages along both banks of the river had to offer yearly sacrifices to pray for peace.

Some even offered living human sacrifices!

Tales of the ’River God taking a bride’ were far from uncommon. Occasionally, he would stir up storms and waves, plundering and devouring the riverside villages.

The Human Race was the favorite food of many Demon Fiends; devouring them could increase a demon’s spiritual wisdom! Even the Dragon Race would devour them in secret.

”It’s best to leave this matter to the Demon Suppression Bureau,” Qin Wenyuan said slowly after a moment of thought. ”They know there are remnants of the Blood Demon Sect in the city but haven’t acted yet. I’m afraid they’re baiting the hook.

”It’s just that what they’re reeling in is a dragon!

”I wonder if they have the appetite to stomach it.”

Since the Qin Family had already tipped off the Demon Suppression Bureau once, they could only walk this path to the very end. If you strike a snake but fail to kill it, the ensuing troubles will be endless!

”Yu, how did you come by this intelligence about the Bishui River Dragon King?” Qin Wenyuan asked. ”This matter is different from before. It involves the Dragon Race, so the situation is much more complicated.”

Before this, they hadn’t probed too deeply into Qin Yu’s secrets.

Since Qin Yu had already agreed to go with them to the County City, they would find out sooner or later. Naturally, they weren’t in a hurry to question him about the inheritance he had obtained, lest it provoke unnecessary resentment.

But right now, the situation was different.

”I have some eyes and ears inside and outside Bishui City.”

Qin Yu didn’t hide anything. With a single thought, a small bird flew into the room from outside. Since he intended to leak the information, he naturally needed to reveal some of his intelligence-gathering capabilities.

The number of Insect Swarm combat units and Worker Insects had reached four hundred thousand.

But what about these disguised reconnaissance units?

Their numbers had long surpassed a million!

”Including those flying in the sky and swimming in the water... through their eyes, I can know most of what happens within a thousand miles of Bishui City.”

Elders Qin Wenyuan, Qin Zhengyuan, and Qin Mohe stared fixedly at the bird in Qin Yu’s hand. It emitted no energy fluctuations and looked exactly like an ordinary sparrow. A chill rose in their hearts.

To be able to know most of what happens within a thousand miles?

What a terrifying ability!

Who would ever pay attention to such ordinary Poisonous Insects and wild beasts?

”How many of your eyes and ears are in Bishui City?” Qin Zhengyuan couldn’t help but ask.

”A lot!”

Qin Yu shook his head; even he couldn’t name a specific number. After discovering the anomaly, the Insect Swarm had been constantly dispatching more reconnaissance units.

After all, they were cheap to produce.

The Energy required to nurture one Rapid Insect could easily spawn hundreds of ordinary reconnaissance units.

Small units like mice, little snakes, spiders, and birds weren’t very large. A single gestation cycle could produce a massive batch. The underwater reconnaissance units, however, were larger and consumed more Energy.

”There is one more thing I need to tell the three Elders,” Qin Yu said candidly. ”I once slew a Flood Dragon. It should have been the Bishui River Dragon King’s last illegitimate son.”

”What? You killed a Flood Dragon? Did it leave a Dragon Race curse on your body?!”

Qin Wenyuan stood up abruptly, and the other two Elders also looked tense.

”No. The one who slew that Flood Dragon was a Qi Sea Realm Great Demon under my command. The curse is on it.” Qin Yu shook his head decisively.

”Thank goodness!”

Qin Wenyuan’s tense expression finally relaxed. If the Dragon Race’s curse was on Qin Yu, then they wouldn’t have time to think about anything else—fleeing immediately would be the only priority.

Even Ancestor Celestial Wind in his prime would only be able to flee in a panic when facing the enraged Bishui River Dragon King. Not to mention, his lifespan was now nearing its end.

”Internal slaughter within the Dragon Race is one thing, but once an outsider strikes and leaves a curse mark, they will become an enemy to almost the entire Dragon Race. Remember this well when dealing with the Dragon Race in the future!” Qin Zhengyuan added.

”Thank you for the guidance, Elder.”

As Qin Yu spoke, he also observed the expressions of the three Elders. He wasn’t afraid to reveal this matter, nor did he fear the consequences. And the reactions of the three Elders didn’t disappoint him.

”Yu, I haven’t asked about the strength of the Cyan Peak County Qin Family before, but right now, I think it’s better to make some things clear,” Qin Wenyuan said with a serious expression. ”From my observations these past few days, you are not a reckless person.

”So, I want to know the true strength of the Cyan Peak County Qin Family.

”That way, we’ll know what to expect!”

The Bishui River Dragon King’s offspring were all at least in the Qi Sea Realm. Furthermore, relying on their Flood Dragon bodies, their strength wouldn’t be weak among those in the Qi Sea Realm.

For Qin Yu to be able to slay one, his hidden strength likely exceeded their expectations.

”Not that strong. Besides four Qi Sea Realm War Beasts, my own strength is the highest. As for Qi and Blood Realm War Beasts, there are a bit more. We have a few hundred of the Thunder Roc’s caliber.

”In addition to that, we also have some of other varieties.”

Qin Yu rubbed his nose, slightly ’downsizing’ the scale of the Insect Swarm. After all, stating outright that he had a four-hundred-thousand-strong Insect Swarm army—including thirty thousand at the Qi and Blood Realm—was a bit absurd.

In the entire Bishui City, even with hundreds of factions, large and small, gathered here, the total number of Qi and Blood Realm Martial Artists was only slightly over two thousand.

Yet even so, the three Elders were startled.

”What did you say? Four Qi Sea Realm War Beasts, and hundreds of War Beasts at the Thunder Roc’s level?” Qin Wenyuan’s heart trembled.

This force, even when placed in the Zong Family, was an extremely formidable power.

Hundreds of Flying War Beasts with Qi and Blood like a Dragon—they knew all too well what that meant.

Flight!

Only those in the Qi Sea Realm could achieve that. And purely in terms of flight speed, they couldn’t even match a Thunder Roc.

If he had this many in the Qi and Blood Realm, how many did he have in the Body Forging Realm?

No wonder the Cyan Peak County Qin Family dared to do War Beast business with the Demon Suppression Bureau. The total number was probably astronomical. It was even possible that the entire Wilderness Mountain Range was under the Qin Family’s control.

In an instant, he understood why Qin Yu hadn’t wanted to leave. How could he just walk away from such a massive foundation?

”Yes, it was a fortuitous encounter I had! At this moment, they are on standby not far from here. If anything goes wrong, they can be deployed immediately,” Qin Yu said straightforwardly.

”In a little while, I plan to send my father and some of the Qin Clan Members away first!

”This Bishui City will likely be reduced to a battlefield.”

”Good! We will do as you say. I will immediately find a way to contact Situ Ming and pass the information to him. The Dragon Race’s power is not small, but the Demon Suppression Bureau’s foundations are equally profound.

”Now that they are getting the news in advance, even if the Bishui River faction comes out in full force, it will be hard for them to make any waves!”

The look of appreciation in Qin Wenyuan’s eyes grew even richer.

To possess such Talent and strength, yet still maintain such composure, all while caring enough for his family and clansmen—he was simply the perfect candidate for the next Clan Leader of the Zong Family!

The entire Qin Residence quickly sprang into action.

When Elder Qin Wenyuan and Situ Ming had secretly reached an agreement, they had naturally left a way to contact each other.

However, this sudden change left Qin Hu somewhat surprised. With the arrival of the Zong Family members setting up arrays, and the appearance of the Demon Suppression Bureau’s great general, he had already planned to stay in Bishui City.

”Father, that’s roughly the situation. Take the clansmen back to Cyan Peak County first. If there are any problems, we’ll rush over as well,” Qin Yu said after giving a brief explanation.

”Alright!”

Qin Hu was silent for a long moment, a hint of worry and self-blame revealing itself in his eyes.

As the dignified head of the family, he actually had to let his son head to the front lines while he hid in a safe place.

It was not a good feeling.

But he also knew that staying behind would only drag them down.

”Be very careful yourself. Stay with the three Elders and don’t try to play the hero.”

Qin Hu patted Qin Yu’s shoulder, then turned and leaped onto the back of a Thunder Roc. Along with a dozen or so clansmen, he quickly took to the air, flying in the direction of Cyan Peak County.

With the Thunder Roc’s speed, a distance of a thousand miles would be covered in the blink of an eye.

”Let’s go! The Demon Suppression Bureau has been notified. The auction is about to begin. Now, it all depends on how the Demon Suppression Bureau responds.”
