Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 104: Chapter 102: Insect Swarm Evolution Mechanism, An Exhilarating Battle

”Slaughter! Fight! And then evolve!”

Within the Insect Swarm’s Mind Network, Qin Yu’s consciousness entrenched itself, observing the battlefield that could only be described as tragic and brutal.

What was the most terrifying aspect of the Insect Race?

It was evolution! A near-infinite capacity for evolution!

High Tier units like cockroaches and Thunder Rocs faced greater difficulty in advancing. Furthermore, their small numbers meant the probability of triggering an evolution was low.

However, Low Tier units like the Rapid Insects boasted massive numbers. On the battlefield, their evolutionary potential was easily stimulated.

Unlike a Martial Artist’s Cultivation, which required various Cultivation Techniques, Celestial and Earthly Treasures, and the like, the Insect Race invested all their skills entirely into their bloodline and evolution.

It wasn’t that the Cultivation Techniques he had collected were useless. Rather, after the Insect Nest’s adjustments, it engraved them into their bloodlines and genetics in the manner of the Insect Race, transforming them into bloodline instincts!

What was the purpose of cultivation? Whether it was to strengthen the body, increase speed, bolster defense, enhance strength, or control more Energy—the Insect Race could achieve all of this simply through their breeding process. Moreover, it was far more efficient!

As for things like potential or lifespan, those were not what the Insect Swarm pursued. If they died, they simply needed to be bred again. With each successive evolution, the newly born Insect Swarm would only grow stronger.

In the eyes of the Mountain-Splitting Demon King and the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer, the Insect Swarm was merely breaking through. But the truth was far from simple.

Whether it was the Cultivation Techniques he had gathered or the thousands of different Demon Fiend and beast bloodlines the Insect Swarm had collected in the Wilderness Mountain Range, everything was being utilized at this very moment. The genetics within their bodies were undergoing rapid metamorphosis.

”As expected, only a true battlefield is the catalyst for the Insect Swarm’s evolution! To absorb nutrients amidst war and death, and to complete the evolution of life!”

Qin Yu’s gaze brimmed with a bloodthirsty light. The scene before him was exactly what the Insect Swarm pursued!

War! Evolution!

To the Insect Race, death was not the end. After they died, their memories would be uploaded to the Insect Nest, and their corpses would be reabsorbed. This was the reason why newly born Insect Race units possessed incredibly formidable combat skills right out of the gate.

If Qin Yu wished it, he could easily have newborn Insect Swarm units inherit all the memories of their fallen brethren.

On the battlefield, swathes of the Insect Race and Demon Fiends perished. A massive amount of flesh and blood was devoured by the Mimic Fungal Mat on the ground, while the Insect Nest, hidden in the underground caverns in the rear, continuously churned out new Insect Race units.

This relentless onslaught caused the Demon Army—which had initially managed to maintain a stalemate relying on its High Tier units—to begin crumbling.

BOOM—

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King could no longer hold back and let out an earth-shattering roar.

Its mountain-like, colossal body suddenly reared up on its hind legs. When its four giant feet, covered in dark red Scale Armor, stomped heavily back down, the entire battlefield trembled!

The white jade-like single horn atop its head abruptly erupted with blinding white light.

”Die!”

Amidst its roar, it charged directly toward the most brutal area of slaughter on the battlefield.

There, the Rapid Insects that had just completed their evolution and broken through to the Qi and Blood Realm were massacring everything in sight. Combined with the toxic acid spewed from the mouths of the cockroaches, their exquisite coordination unleashed a perfect slaughter.

It was like a sprinting mountain crashing through. The Insect Race units blocking its path—whether they were ordinary Rapid Insects or cockroaches attempting to intercept it—were effortlessly sent flying and torn apart before its terrifying impact and sharp horn!

Severed limbs and carapace fragments splattered everywhere. Absolutely nothing could withstand a single blow from it.

Although a Qi Sea Realm Demon King was capable of flight, a behemoth like the Mountain-Splitting Demon King, which stood fully fifteen meters tall, excelled most at ground combat! Its terrifying might instantly shifted the tide of the battlefield.

Following closely behind, the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer also made its move.

It didn’t charge straight into the heart of the battlefield like the Mountain-Splitting Demon King. Instead, its gaze locked onto the rear of the Insect Swarm Battlefield—aimed precisely at the Insect Nest cavern where new Insect Race warriors were continuously emerging!

The multi-colored antlers on its head swirled with light as an invisible cyclone began gathering around its body. With a light tap of its four hooves, its figure seemed to merge with the wind, transforming into an elusive Flowing Light that shot straight toward the Insect Nest!

Wherever it passed, the air let out shrill screeches.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

Countless formless and intangible, yet peerlessly sharp, Wind Blades materialized out of thin air as it advanced. As if possessing a life of their own, they precisely orbited and slashed!

The Rapid Insects and cockroaches attempting to block it were swept into the dense cluster of Wind Blades before they could even get close!

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

Ear-piercing slicing sounds rang out endlessly! Carapaces shattered, and limbs were severed!

Unlike the crushing brute force of the Mountain-Splitting Demon King, this was a slaughter born of extreme sharpness and speed. Wherever the Wind Blades passed, the Insect Race units were like meat thrown into an invisible grinder, instantly dismembered into varying-sized chunks. Insect blood and severed limbs were swept up by the gale, forming brutal whirlwinds of gore!

”Finally couldn’t hold back anymore?”

Qin Yu, who had been monitoring the battlefield the entire time, let out a cold sneer. How could he not have prepared defenses against two powerful Demon Kings? The Mountain Giant Apes and Needle-spine Crawlers within the Insect Swarm hadn’t even struck yet!

Around the Insect Nest, three hundred Thorn Snakes—having just torn out of their eggs, completed a round of evolution, and modified the Child Gu within their bodies into ’Microscopic Insect Nests’—locked onto the incoming Seven-Colored Spirit Deer.

Just as the unstoppable Seven-Colored Spirit Deer was about to plunge into the Insect Nest cavern, the Fungal Mat around the seemingly defenseless Insect Nest suddenly surged violently!

Ten incredibly thick, fleshy vines fiercely burst from the ground, weaving into an airtight giant net that brazenly stabbed toward the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer.

Needle-spine Crawlers!

Ten Needle-spine Crawlers lurking underground finally erupted. As the strongest defensive units in the Insect Swarm, their barbed tips struck out directly like scorpion tails.

The attack was far too sudden and far too fierce.

Almost simultaneously, the three hundred Thorn Snakes hiding underground sprang forth, spewing large swaths of Blade Insects from their mouths. The high-speed spinning Blade Insects tore through the air, coordinating with the Needle-spine Crawlers to execute a flawless killing blow!

The Seven-Colored Spirit Deer’s pupils shrank drastically. Its rapidly sprinting body twisted and dodged at an almost unimaginable speed, consecutively evading the attacks of the Needle-spine Crawlers.

What deer-type lifeforms excelled at most was dodging and fleeing! But facing the encirclement of ten Needle-spine Crawlers under the precise control of the Insect Nest, along with thousands of high-speed flying Blade Insects, completely evading them was an absolute impossibility.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

One after another, the high-speed, spinning, and slicing Blade Insects collided with the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer’s protective cyclone, triggering violent explosions. The chain of blasts forced the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer’s charging silhouette to a complete halt.

Then, the fleshy vines that resembled heaven-spanning whips pierced the air, their curved barbed tips as pitch-black as ink.

The Seven-Colored Spirit Deer’s expression changed drastically. Even it didn’t dare to take such a terrifying attack head-on. If it was punctured by these successive strikes, there was a real chance of perishing.

In an instant, Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi gathered beneath the seven-colored radiance before its antlers, forming a Cyan Wind Shuttle! It was only three feet long but condensed to the absolute limit, exuding ripples of Destruction!

BOOM!!!

The Cyan Wind Shuttle and the Needle-spine Crawler’s spike collided fiercely!

Amidst the violent rumble, the Needle-spine Crawler’s spike—which was constructed entirely of Profound Iron—was punctured, sending flesh and blood flying. However, before the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer could flee, another Needle-spine Crawler thrust right into its face.

The three hundred Thorn Snakes also spat out a second wave of Blade Insects.

The sky-blotting swarm of Blade Insects, coordinating with the Needle-spine Crawlers to lock down the area, acted as webs of death, denying it any chance to break out.

”Second Brother, watch out!”

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King, who was slaughtering everything in its path on the battlefield, had a drastic change in expression. Possessing boundless strength and extreme defense, it disregarded ordinary attacks.

But the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer walked the path of agility; its defense wasn’t considered strong. The high-speed spinning Blade Insects could practically rival attacks of the Qi and Blood like a Dragon tier. Taking one or two hits wouldn’t harm the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer, but thousands of attacks were something even the Mountain-Splitting Demon King itself might not withstand.

Let alone the Seven-Colored Spirit Deer!

But before it could go to the rescue, large swathes of the surrounding Insect Swarm crazily pounced over to kill. The evolved Rapid Insects transformed into streaks of bloody afterimages.

Chubby Poison Burst Insects bounced as they charged, violently detonating when they were still several meters away.

In the distance, over a dozen cockroaches simultaneously cracked open their mouthparts. Highly toxic acid sprayed out like high-pressure water cannons, weaving into a purplish-black haze in the air to precisely blanket the area where the Mountain-Splitting Demon King stood!

SIZZLE! SIZZLE! SIZZLE!

The highly corrosive acid struck the Mountain-Splitting Demon King’s protective light, emitting a teeth-grinding noise and billowing white smoke.

Though it failed to break through the defense, it severely hindered the beast’s vision and delayed its speed. Its indestructible charging momentum consequently slowed.

”Just with the likes of you, you vainly attempt to stop me?”

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King let out a crazed roar. Its entire body radiated an earthy-yellow light as it viciously stomped the ground. The earth rumbled, and hundreds of earthen spikes—each several meters long—burst upward within a radius of five hundred meters.

It instantly one-shot the majority of the besieging Insect Swarm. Even a few cockroaches were impaled, struggling arduously as they tried to climb off the spikes.

But before the Mountain-Splitting Demon King could charge over...

Several Mountain Giant Apes that had been roaming in the rear finally made their move. Roaring, their entire bodies ignited with towering blood-red Flames as their aura of power surged madly.

Talent—Death Frenzy!

Fists engulfed in the sharp glint of metal smashed toward the Mountain-Splitting Demon King’s body with fearless abandon. The sheer ferocity of that aura made even the Demon King shudder internally.

It clearly saw that as the blood-red Flames burned, the bodies of these Mountain Giant Apes visibly aged. This was exchanging all their Life Force for a momentary, ultra-powerful burst!

BOOM—

The Warhammer-like Fists pounded into it. That terrifying strength forced the Mountain-Splitting Demon King to a halt, causing the Protective Energy all over its body to tremble.

”What in the world is this race? Without a leader, they’re actually this fearless of death?”

The Mountain-Splitting Demon King irritably swung its sharp claws, shattering half the body of one Mountain Giant Ape. Yet, despite such grievous wounds, this Mountain Giant Ape didn’t die immediately.

Its mangled body still swung a Fist, smashing over heavily.

A few other Mountain Giant Apes leaped high into the air, their scorching blood-red Flames burning intensely as they stubbornly entangled the Mountain-Splitting Demon King.

And in the brief single breath of time they had bought...

Up in the sky, over a hundred Thunder Rocs fully unleashed Thunderbolts from their bodies. The Thunderbolt radiance blasted toward the besieged Seven-Colored Spirit Deer, merging into one under the precise control of the Insect Nest.

BOOM!
