Ruling Martial World by Infinite Insect Swarms

Chapter 141: Chapter 136: Chaotic Battle! Blood Sacrifice of the Entire City

BOOM!

Qin Wenyuan’s elegant face was now filled with a murderous aura. Instead of taking the main entrance, he unleashed a fierce saber gleam that directly blasted a massive hole in the attic of the auction hall. The Qin Family group quickly exited through it.

He wasn’t the only one; almost simultaneously, dozens of Qi Sea Martial Artists forcibly broke out from all directions.

The Demon Suppression Bureau’s threat? Who cared!

It was no joke. On a battlefield between two Primordial Mansion Realm experts, even the mere shockwaves were enough to slaughter swathes of Qi and Blood Realm or even Qi Sea Martial Artists.

As they left, Qin Yu’s gaze swept over the hall. At least a few dozen unlucky Qi and Blood Realm martial artists had been pierced by Sword Qi and poisonous insects, dying on the spot.

The Su Family group, who had ultimately won the Five Poison Sect Inheritance Token at the auction, also rushed out, shooting explosively toward the exterior.

The squad of Demon Suppression Bureau experts guarding the auction hall entrance exchanged dark looks. However, through a tacit understanding, they did not step forward to stop anyone. Instead, they dodged away just like everyone else.

SCREECH!

The sharp cries of the Thunder Rocs echoed as twenty of them circled in the sky before swiftly diving down. A portion of them landed in front of Qin Yu, Qin Wenyuan, and the others. The rest landed beside the Qin Family elites in another direction.

”Get on.”

Without a shred of hesitation, everyone from the Qin Family leaped onto the backs of the Thunder Rocs. With a flap of their Thunder Roc wings, the beasts rapidly took to the sky. Although they hadn’t spent much time together, almost all the Qin Clan members who had come from the Zong Family had acquainted themselves with these Thunder Rocs out of curiosity and were aware of their intelligence.

From the sky, Qin Yu took in the scene at a glance.

Amidst shrieks and furious shouts, dozens of War Beast mounts parked outside the city roared as they charged inside. Even the Su Family’s Five-Colored Demon Spider, which stood a towering five or six *zhang* tall, did the same. They had clearly been summoned to receive their respective clan members.

But in the next moment, experts from the Evil Suppression Bureau Army, who had long been standing by in tight formation on the city walls, barked sharp orders for them to fall back.

Who knew how many among these people were hidden agents of the Blood Demon Sect? How could they be allowed to freely charge into the city!

While some hesitated, others charged straight ahead.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

The massive bed crossbows and archers on the city walls simultaneously unleashed a rain of arrows, instantly causing heavy casualties. Inside the city, chaos had already completely broken loose.

From a cavern near the Song Residence, thick blood-red smoke spewed out, spreading rapidly into the surroundings. Charging out alongside it were a massive number of Blood Demon Sect members.

Situ Ming’s face darkened as he charged forward with a furious shout. Behind him, Zhao Zhenshan and other Demon Suppression Bureau members swung their weapons, embarking on a frenzied slaughter. However, there were simply too many Blood Demon Sect members, and quite a few managed to break through the lines in that short time.

The Evil Suppression Bureau Army troops, who had long been waiting on the periphery with their spears held like a dense forest, advanced with loud shouts, cutting down the escapees one by one.

The forces at the Great Wei Court’s disposal went far beyond just the Demon Suppression Bureau. A prefecture city like Bishui City was guarded by the Evil Suppression Bureau Army in addition to housing a Demon Suppression Bureau branch. Although their individual strength wasn’t too great—the vast majority were merely Skin Refining Martial Artists—they had numbers on their side.

An army of roughly ten thousand men was stationed just outside Bishui City. The Qin Family from Cyan Peak County had trade relations with this Evil Suppression Bureau Army, supplying them with basic weapons every year.

Moreover, there were experts within the army as well. The squad leaders, centurions, and military generals were all experts in their own right. Under their coordination, even ordinary Qi and Blood Martial Artists would be forcefully surrounded and killed. The sky-piercing Evil Qi radiating from the army formations even caused the blood-red mist to scatter.

Just as it seemed the situation was about to be brought under control, everything suddenly changed when the drifting blood mist touched the surrounding residents.

”Ahhh!”

A middle-aged man in simple servant’s attire, hiding in a courtyard, tried to dodge the drifting blood mist but found nowhere to hide. Wisps of the red mist burrowed into his nose and mouth. Instantly, his skin grew scalding and flushed with blood. With veins bulging all over his body, he thrashed wildly on the ground, wailing and sobbing in agony.

Hearing the noise, a panicking woman rushed out of a room with a seven-or-eight-year-old child, only to suffer the exact same fate. Neither the woman nor the child was spared.

And this was not the end.

A moment later, the man who had been rolling on the floor crawled back up in an incredibly contorted posture. His face was twisted, his eyes were bloodshot, and he had completely lost his mind. Sniffing the air, his madness-filled eyes snapped toward the door. He dashed outside, closely followed by his wife and child. They charged wildly into the neighboring courtyard, tackling people to the ground and devouring them in huge bites.

Even for those hiding indoors, the drafty doors and windows could do nothing to stop the mist from drifting in. Centered around the Song Residence, a massive riot broke out.

Hordes of ordinary citizens who had lost their minds roared as they threw themselves at the Evil Suppression Bureau Army on the streets and the Demon Suppression Bureau members. Even within the Evil Suppression Bureau Army, quite a few soldiers mutated after coming into contact with the blood mist.

The situation was slightly better around the Song Residence in the south of the city. The residents in that area were either rich or noble, so even factoring in their servants and maids, the population wasn’t large. However, it was a completely different story at the Blood Demon Sect stronghold in the east of the city. That was the slum district; eighty percent of Bishui City’s population lived there.

When the blood mist spread, the sheer pressure placed on the Evil Suppression Bureau Army trying to maintain order was unimaginable. Fortunately, there were not many infected within the army itself, so they were still barely able to hold the line.

Meanwhile, fierce battles were erupting all over the city.

Inside the Bishui City Lord’s Mansion, a guard suddenly sprouted two extra arms from his back, each wielding a long saber. Under the horrified gazes of the other guards, he cleaved off his commander’s head with a single strike before charging into the city with a maniacal laugh. As he sprinted, he tossed out a jade bottle. Blood-red mist instantly spread from it.

In the Moon Viewing Tower, a shy, panicking young girl who had fallen into a customer’s embrace suddenly broke into an eerie smile. Opening her mouth incredibly wide, she swallowed the man holding her whole. A meter-long tongue shot out from her mouth, which had split open like a chrysanthemum. Staring greedily at the others hiding nearby, she lunged at them.

There was even an old woman in the crowd whose body released a massive swarm of black Gu insects. Like a dark cloud, the bugs devoured the surrounding people while a kindly smile lingered on the corners of her lips...

”’Mad Saber’ Xue Zhan, Jade-faced Rakshasa, Gu the Old Mother... The Blood Demon Sect has brought a lot of experts. The Demon Suppression Bureau is in deep trouble this time,” Qin Zhengyuan said, looking on in horror at the Blood Demon Sect experts below who were releasing blood mist everywhere amidst the chaos.

”The Demon Suppression Bureau has even more experts. They mobilized quite a few from the County City—at least twenty elite squads, each led by Qi Sea Martial Artists,” Qin Wenyuan replied, his face grim. ”However, the area they have to protect is too large.

”That blood mist is some kind of catalyst. The Song Family controls thirty percent of the grain and oil business in Bishui City. I fear they had long ago mixed evil demon flesh into their supplies.

”Under normal circumstances, there’s no difference, but once triggered by the mist, the consumers lose their minds and madly attack the living. Moreover, anyone bitten by them will also be infected...”

Seeing such a hellish tragedy on earth, anyone with even a shred of compassion would feel deep hatred. The Human Pill Evil Technique was far too cruel. Otherwise, the Blood Demon Sect wouldn’t be universally reviled and hunted by everyone.

”No wonder the Demon Suppression Bureau wasn’t in a hurry to act earlier. They were likely planning to mobilize more experts. Over the past few days, the rice, flour, grain, and oil have all been covertly controlled. But there was no way to reverse what had already been consumed,” Qin Yu said.

His heart grew heavy as he watched the West City gradually spiral out of control with more and more people becoming infected. Even if the Demon Suppression Bureau experts managed to stabilize the situation, the aftermath would be extremely tragic.

Furthermore, the Blood Demon Sect wasn’t the only source of chaos right now. Among the hundreds of factions that had come to Bishui City, some were already Blood Demon Sect members in disguise, while others simply wanted to take advantage of the chaos to fish in troubled waters.

”Hand over the Five Poison Sect Inheritance Token!”

”Kill them!”

Amidst the pandemonium, someone shot an arrow toward the Su Family. In the blink of an eye, an overwhelming barrage of flying sabers, arrows, and other attacks completely blanketed the fleeing Su Family group.

”Hmph! You dare attack my Su Family without even looking at your own strength?”

A white-haired old woman with wrinkled skin let out a cold snort. From within her robes, over a dozen fist-sized spiders flew out, spewing silk from their mouths that wove into a massive web, intercepting the majority of the attacks. Following that, the spider silk pierced straight through the skulls of several attacking Qi and Blood Realm martial artists. Yet, their escape pace was successfully stalled. They had no way to leave.

The entirety of Bishui City had descended into total chaos.

”Let’s go!” Qin Yu shouted.

A glint flashed in his eyes. Instead of charging down into the fray, he spurred the Thunder Roc beneath him to swiftly fly toward the Qin Residence. There were still quite a few Qin Clan members over there. Because the Qin Family of Cyan Peak County wasn’t very wealthy in the past, the residence they had purchased was located in the east of the city. The chaos was already on the verge of reaching it.

Bishui City was massive, but to a Thunder Roc, it was very small. They soon appeared in the sky above the Qin Residence and plummeted into a dive.

”Array, activate!”

Midair, Qin Yu gave a low shout. The arrays he had set up in advance instantly whirred to life. These arrays weren’t particularly brilliant—just standard illusion arrays and defensive arrays, but they were more than enough to handle ordinary threats.

The moment everyone landed, a burst of rampant, maniacal laughter echoed from the skies above the city.

”Hahaha, Chen Jianqiu! So you discovered my scheme this time, but so what? Let me show you my Blood Sea Array! This Bishui City will still become my blood sacrifice!”

As Mo Yuzi laughed wildly, a bloody aura erupted from his body, forcing Chen Jianqiu back. He tossed out over a dozen array banners from his hands, instantly covering more than half the city. It enveloped the majority of the factions within the city, including the Qin Residence where Qin Yu and his group were located.

A layer of blood-red light materialized over Bishui City, completely isolating the inside from the outside.

”These are all excellent medicinal ingredients! Don’t even think about running away, any of you!”

”Arrogant!”

The Treasure Pavilion’s Primordial Mansion Realm expert, Wan Yongchang, who hadn’t wanted to intervene initially, finally flew into a rage. The grand array had brazenly trapped him inside as well. A Blood Sea Array! This bastard was trying to catch his Treasure Pavilion in the same net!

BOOM!

Nine longswords tore through the air, bombarding the blood-red canopy formed by the Blood Sea Array. The grand array trembled, yet it did not shatter.

The sight instantly caused Wan Yongchang’s expression to change. The other experts in the city panicked as well. Even the strong cultivators who had been fishing in troubled waters and looting amidst the chaos joined in to bombard the blood-red canopy, rendering the grand array incredibly shaky and unstable.

”You delusionally think you can trap me with just this array of yours?” Chen Jianqiu bellowed furiously. The longsword in his hand transformed into a giant ice sword tens of meters long and slashed at the sky, causing cracking sounds to echo from the grand array.

At this rate, the so-called Blood Sea Array wouldn’t last long at all.

Qin Yu’s brow, however, creased in a frown.

”He’s stalling for time!” Qin Yu muttered to himself. ”The Bishui River Dragon King has made its move. There are at least twenty to thirty thousand underwater demons rushing this way.”

But right after, a ferocious look crossed his face.

”I didn’t plan to intervene, but you forced my hand.”
