Chapter 353: Chapter 355: Nangong Bing’s Phone Call

Chapter 355 Nangong Bing’s Phone Call

Thinking of this, Nangong Bing even felt somewhat pitiful for herself, a woman holding up a huge corporation, what great sacrifices she had to make, what enormous responsibilities she had to bear.

Her hardships over the past year were thus imaginable.

It seemed that these days had been too exhausting, Nangong Bing’s delicate, jade-like fingers gently pressed against her temples, when suddenly her eyes lit up. She hastily dialed the finance department’s phone, but it rang for a long time with no answer from the other side, causing Nangong Bing’s elegant brows to slightly furrow.

”Where has that deadbeat run off to mess around this time? He doesn’t even answer calls, does he think his job is just too leisurely?” Already in a bad mood that day, she made several calls in a row with no one picking up on the other end, which made the always impatient Nangong Bing even more irritable.

After some thought, Nangong Bing repeatedly reminded herself to suppress the anger that was about to erupt. She dialed the finance department’s reception desk again, her cold voice devoid of any emotion. Even when the receptionists, the two young ladies, first heard Nangong Bing’s voice, they thought the CEO might have something nice for them, but Nangong Bing’s icy tone instantly dispelled that notion.

”Where is finance assistant Lin Zifeng right now?” Nangong Bing asked coldly.

”He’s in his office, President,” the receptionist answered, her hands shaking on the phone, corners of her mouth quivering. This was a direct call from the CEO of Tianyu Group! What did this mean? Perhaps even afterward, they could brag about getting a phone call from Nangong Bing to the reception desk.

”Let him answer the phone.”

”Right away, President. Please hold, and I’ll notify Assistant Lin immediately,” the receptionist hurriedly fumbled her way toward Lin Zifeng’s office.

She wished she had an extra pair of legs to sprint into Lin Zifeng’s office.

At that moment, Lin Zifeng, sitting leisurely in front of the window, gazed at Zhonghai City below him, a cigarette dangling from his lips, his eyes squinting with interest. From his indifferent facial expression, one could tell he was utterly relaxed, listening to Huang Jiaju’s old classic ”Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies” on a new phone Nangong Bing had bought for him. He was completely absorbed in the music, wearing his headphones, thoroughly enjoying himself.

Poor receptionist girl was nearly running her feet off, knocking on the door more than a dozen times, but he completely failed to notice anything outside, instead getting more and more engrossed.

”Assistant Lin! Assistant Lin!”

After several calls from the receptionist, he finally noticed someone was calling him from outside.

”Oh! You’re calling me?” Lin Zifeng laughed, pointing first at the receptionist, then at himself, his eyes clearly conveying a hint of incredulity.

”Assistant Lin, the President is looking for you. She’s waiting on the reception phone right now. She seemed quite upset, so you better go check it out,” said the receptionist, her face colored with urgency. It seemed Nangong Bing really had something important to discuss this time.

However, remembering the disdain she had shown him in her office just before, Lin Zifeng really didn’t want to embarrass himself further. Why should he come and go at her beck and call just because he came from a security background? Didn’t he have rights within the company?

”Just tell the president I’m really busy right now, I don’t have time.” Lin Zifeng’s eyes darted around, feeling he definitely couldn’t just show weakness, especially since their relationship had improved some. He couldn’t let Nangong Bing think she could walk all over him in the future, as if they were already married, and he was already taking himself lightly. Wouldn’t his situation be even more tragic later on?”

”Assistant Lin, please don’t make it hard for me. I’m just a small receptionist at the company. How could I dare not follow what the president orders?” Clearly, Nangong Bing’s authority was quite absolute in their minds. After all, Nangong Bing was the head honcho at Tianyu. If they don’t listen to her, then who should they listen to?”

”Well, okay then, I’ll do this for your sake, just for today. I’ll give her some respect.” Saying that, Lin Zifeng slapped his hand down and quickly got up to follow the receptionist toward the front desk of the finance department.

The receptionist herself was also feeling a bit embarrassed. What does he mean ’for your sake’? Does he really think he can defy a summons from the president?”

Seeing the receptionist leading Lin Zifeng towards the front desk, another receptionist couldn’t help but be over the moon.

She was worried he might finish work early again today and sneak off somewhere to fool around.

”Assistant Lin, the president’s call.” The receptionist called out hurriedly, from dozens of steps away, her face painted with heavy makeup, uncertain if she was feeling happy or worried.

”Oh.” Lin Zifeng nodded appreciatively, then lazily picked up the phone and asked, ”What’s up, boss?”

No sooner had he finished speaking than the faces of the two receptionists nearby instantly lit up with excitement. There weren’t many in the entire company who could talk to Nangong Bing like that, right?

”You, come to my office now, I need to talk to you.” On the other end, Nangong Bing heard his lazy tone and her pretty brows knitted slightly. She always felt this guy was one of those who didn’t aspire to progress, a total loser.

”Whatever you want to say, just say it now, so we don’t have to run back and forth, it’s a hassle.”

”Hiss...”

The receptionist passing by couldn’t help but suck in a breath of cold air! She stared with wide, beautiful eyes, hardly daring to believe her own ears. Apart from Assistant Lin, she had never heard of anyone else in the company who could talk to Nangong Bing like that.

What exactly was Lin’s relationship with the president? The two receptionists were suddenly overwhelmed with emotions. Could it be that Lin Zifeng was some rich kid sent here to experience life?

”Huahua has to go to school today, and they are waiting for you at the villa right now. Hurry up and pick them up. Today is military training day at school, and you better not be late later on,” said Nangong Bing over the phone, not in the mood to banter with him any further and directly stating the purpose of her call.

”Now? Today?” It was almost ten in the morning, and even if he rushed to the school, it was probably too late. Besides, Huahua still hadn’t fully let go of her grievances from last time, so taking her to school today would likely ignite her dissatisfaction.

”This task is yours. After dropping off Huahua, come straight back. I have important matters to discuss with you. Just don’t be late,” Nangong Bing sounded like she was at the end of her tether, finding even a few extra words exhausting. Having said her piece, she then simply hung up, leaving Lin Zifeng with only the dial tone in his ear.

Err, is this woman going through menopause or something?”
