After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 585: Chapter 589: Plagiarism Controversy [7]

At the side, Luo Xiaoqian stood up in surprise.

On the side of the stage, Yu Tong, Zhuo Yannan, and others also changed their expressions, Xu Pei frowned, looking a bit pale.

Everything in front of everyone had already proven that the piece was Leng Zimo’s work.

This outcome was something that no one had expected.

The young man on the stage also turned pale.

”President Leng, your manuscript,” Ailin took out a stack of manuscripts from her bag and handed them to Leng Zimo.

Leng Zimo held the manuscripts up high, ”This is the draft I wrote when working on ’Only You.’ The reason I sent this piece to Emperor View in such a manner was that at that time, Xiao Qian and I had not yet gone public with our relationship. I did not want others to think she was using me to get ahead, and yet I had promised to help her write songs. So, I chose that way.”

The young man knew that if he admitted it this time, the consequences would be severe, so he made a last-ditch struggle.

”So what? Even if ’Only You’ wasn’t written by me, what about the others? How do you explain those?”

”I have a question!”

At the side, Luo Xiaoqian spoke up loudly.

As Leng Zimo appeared and coped calmly, the anxiety in her heart had gradually turned to peace.

With him there, she was afraid of nothing.

Leng Zimo turned his face, looking at her now calm complexion, and a touch of comfort flashed in his eyes; he then stepped back.

Luo Xiaoqian then walked over briskly, stopping in front of the young man, ”Are you certain ’Destined’ was written by you?”

”Of course,” the young man huffed lightly.

”I ask you, in ’Destined’ there’s a lyric, ’I hear you calling under the sunshine at midnight, I gaze at the stars but all I see is the brilliant sunlight’—what does it mean?”

”That...” the young man pondered, ”it’s due to my imagination; as long as there is love in your heart, you can see sunlight even at night.”

”You’re wrong!” Luo Xiaoqian began to smile, ”When I wrote this song, it was the midnight sun in Lapland, and even at midnight, you could see the brilliant sunlight. At that time, I was in the Maldives, Zimo was in Lapland, and it was that night when Zimo and I talked on a phone call. He told me that when my night was full of stars, his night also had sunlight. This song was originally written for him.”

The young man didn’t speak.

Luo Xiaoqian spoke again, her smile becoming more serene, ”I ask you again, ’Chance Encounter’ has a pause before the chorus, do you know how many beats that pause is?”

The young man pursed his lips, ”One beat.”

”Wrong, it’s four beats! The reason for the four-beat pause here is because, before the band starts playing, there is a counting process. This song, with the bow and strings as a metaphor for the mindset of a girl falling for a guy, the four-beat pause represents the stopping point before the instrument starts playing...”

Then, Luo Xiaoqian’s questions followed one after another, from lyrics to beat handling, down to the smallest details of word usage.

She kept asking, expressing her thoughts amid the young man’s silence.

Why she wrote it like that, why she used that word, why there was that song...

Her work, she didn’t know how many times she had to revise it; Leng Zimo had once said her lyrics were immature, so she put significant effort into the lyrics, weighing each word carefully.

In her calm voice, everyone had come to understand her true feelings and finally grasped why she wrote like that, sang like that, handled the rhythms of the songs in such a way.

The plagiarism accusation collapsed of its own accord.
