After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 561: Chapter 565 The Unique Birthday Gift【5】

After pushing him back down to sit on the bed, she turned and left the room. While listening to the sound of her descending the stairs, Leng Zimo raised his hand to turn on the small lamp by the bed.

Shortly after, Luo Xiaoqian returned, hiding one hand behind her back.

Standing in front of him, she commanded with a smile, ”Close your eyes, no peeking.”

Guessing her intention, Leng Zimo smiled and closed his eyes.

Without seeing her, he merely felt her soft hand take hold of his left hand and then slide something onto his middle finger—only to stop halfway, followed by her annoyed voice.

”No way, it’s too small?!”

”Can I open my eyes now?” Leng Zimo asked with a smile.

”Open them.” Luo Xiaoqian’s voice carried a bit of disappointment.

Leng Zimo opened his eyes to find a silver ring sitting on his left middle finger, which bore an awkwardly carved openwork design. It seemed to be a pattern but on closer inspection, one could discern two cursive letters L intertwined with each other.

The craftsmanship was not exquisite; it was obviously not the work of a skilled, familiar craftsman.

”Did you make this?”

”Yeah!” Luo Xiaoqian pouted slightly, ”What a pity, it came out a little small and doesn’t fit!”

”Who says it doesn’t fit?” Leng Zimo reached out, pinched the ring, and slid it off his middle finger, fitting it onto his ring finger where it fit perfectly—not too big, not too small. Raising his finger in front of her, he spoke with a faint smile, ”You did this on purpose, didn’t you?”

Luo Xiaoqian hastened to shake her head, ”Really, I didn’t. I just wanted to give you a ring to wear on your middle finger, but, it accidentally turned out too small.”

Last time, when he proposed to her, he gave her a ring.

A ring worn on the left middle finger signifies an engagement; all along, she had wanted to give him a ring that could be worn on the left middle finger. Given that it was his birthday, she saw the opportunity to give him one.

Because she cared, she naturally wanted to give him the best, so when she heard Yu Tong mention unique handmade rings in Venice, she came up with the idea to make one herself to give to him.

Unexpectedly, it ended up being too small to be worn on the middle finger.

Leng Zimo raised his hand to her shoulder, ”I prefer the ring on this finger to the middle finger...”

”That’s right!” Luo Xiaoqian suddenly remembered something and hurriedly grabbed her phone to check the time. Seeing the time change to midnight on her phone, she immediately set it down and turned to him solemnly, ”Zimo, happy birthday!”

Shaking her phone in front of him, she beamed proudly, ”Although the ring is a little small, I’m definitely the first person to wish you a happy birthday!”

Standing up, Leng Zimo took her phone out of her hand, ”Did you specially set an alarm for this?”

Luo Xiaoqian looked at him with a smile, ”Yeah, I’ve been so tired these days, I was afraid I might fall asleep, so I set an alarm to remind myself.”

”Have you had enough rest now?” he asked.

”Now?” Luo Xiaoqian nodded, ”With all this excitement, I’m really not sleepy anymore.”

”Then...” He raised his hand to cradle her face, ”Since your ring isn’t quite right, shouldn’t you compensate me?”

”There should be jewelry workshops back home. When we have time, I’ll make another one for you. This time, I promise it won’t be too small and, now that I have experience, I’m sure it will be even more beautiful...”

”I can’t wait. I want compensation now,” he said.
