High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 781: Chapter 129: The Negotiator Who Can’t Speak_1

Zheng Qing eventually got Xin Fat Man’s watch from Tuan Tuan.

This course of action was filled with trials and tribulations, exhausting all possible tricks by the young wizards of dormitory 403.

At first, the young scholar students were deep in thought whether to lure Tuan Tuan with food. It was widely known that Fat Cat, a flower cat, loved delicious food. Fat Cat decided to stay in dormitory 403 because Xin Fat Man bribed it with a delicious chicken leg, which won over this self-proclaimed ’freely-spirited’ Spiritual Cat.

So, Zheng Qing initially wanted to follow the same tactic and buy some delicious fried chicken from downstairs.

Since it was lunchtime and the school canteen had not yet opened, buying snacks like fried chicken entailed a trip to the Pedestrian Street. Just as the young scholar was undecided about whether to rush this troublesome task, Xin Fat Man, standing behind him, voice out to put an end to his contemplation.

”Chicken legs are of no use, no matter how many you have!” When Zheng Qing leaned out of the window, trying to negotiate with Fat Cat, Xin Fat Man kept on nagging behind him. ”I tried chicken legs from the very beginning, but they didn’t work at all. I don’t know if it’s because Tuan Tuan had a huge dinner last night and is still digesting, it doesn’t seem to be very hungry.”

”Compared to chicken legs, it seems to prefer basking in the sun in that crevice!”

”The Teasing Cat Stick also doesn’t work... The most effective cat teaser was the Alchemy Rat, which you’ve already dismantled into several pieces. As for the feathers fixed on the stick, if you’d like to use them to tease Tuan Tuan, you’ll definitely get scratched and bleed.”

After the Xin Fat Man recited all the tactics he had tried, the young scholar student was desperate to discover that almost all the valid methods used for teasing cats were ineffective here.

”How about you use another transformation potion?” After Xin Fat Man had recited all the methods he had tried, an idea seemed to occur to him and he looked at Zheng Qing with hopeful eyes. ”Wasn’t your Black Cat form very powerful after transformation? Dealing with a Fat Flower Cat should be easy...”

”Don’t even think about it!” Zheng Qing abruptly interrupted Xin Fat Man’s wishful calculation. ”Not to mention how expensive a transformation potion is and whether it’s cost-effective to use it to catch a fat cat... I just used that potion a few days ago, and I’m still in the adjustment period!”

”Professor Li has said that although a large part of the toxicity of this standardized transformation potion has been eliminated, medicines have their side effects, and frequent use can cause serious harm to a wizard’s spirit and body!”

”You’ve already done severe damage to my spirit and body... this won’t make much difference.” Xin Fat Man murmured, leaning against the wall with a sulky expression, hugging his arms, and looking injured.

”What did you say?” Zheng Qing retreated from the window and looked askance at the Fat Man with a slightly displeased tone. ”My head was outside just now, and I didn’t hear what you said clearly... Can you repeat it?”

His expression and tone had already made everything very clear. Anyone with a bit of sense wouldn’t be foolish enough to repeat what they’d just said.

Xin Fat Man was never a fool.

”What I mean is, we could think of other methods!” With a serious look on his face, Fat Man said something completely unrelated to what he had said earlier, sounding sincere. ”If you’re tired from negotiating with the fat cat, you can come back and rest... Let the elves fetch you some tea! No kidding, your elves are so useful, diligent, and capable. They are much more reliable than that fat cat who sleeps after eating and cries after waking up!”

Elves?

A light bulb seemed to flash in Zheng Qing’s mind.

Oh right! His elves!

If it had to be said who in the dormitory had the best relationship with the fat cat, Zheng Qing thought that no one else could be an option besides his elves. Usually, the elves could rest on the thick fur of the fat cat at any time and anywhere. And whenever this happened, Tuan Tuan would walk or yawn very carefully for fear of disturbing them. The elves could also play on the fat cat’s long tail like a slide when they were bored - only Zheng Qing, who has been transformed into a cat, knows how much cats care about their tails.

Therefore, Zheng Qing guessed that the fat cat might be kind to the elves.

”Come on, come here.” Thinking about his idea, the young scholar student turned around, waved to the room, and called his elves. ”Come help!”

The elves, who were busy with their works, suddenly heard Zheng Qing’s call. They immediately dropped what they were doing, smiled and flapped their wings, and flew over.

One of the elves had been holding a large teapot to pour hot tea for Xiao Xiao. When she heard Zheng Qing’s call, she ’plopped’ the teapot onto the desk, just narrowly missing Doctor Xiao’s head; another elf was watching a set of emerald green Magic Flame, helping Mister Wolfman heat his AB-type virgin blood. Upon hearing Zheng Qing’s summons, she too happily flew out, completely ignoring the Magic Flame that suddenly flared up, making the cauldron for boiling blood red hot.

”Ahh! The fire is too big; it’s burning! It’s burning!” Only after sniffing the smell of scorched blood did Dylan realize that the elf watching his fire was gone, and the cauldron was almost about to be melted by the uncontrollable Magic Flame.

He rolled out from his coffin and then saw that almost half a jar of fresh blood had been scorched in just a few minutes, leaving a more viscous substance and many unexplainable black contents in it, indicating that it’s spoiled. Dylan shouted in pain.

”My virgin blood! I only get less than ten ounces per month! It’s all wasted now!!” Dylan shouted crazily around the small cauldron, reaching out to touch the cauldron from time to time, but was scared by the scorching heat.

”Your blood can be replenished every month, but if my brain has a hole, it will not recover in a year!” Doctor Xiao glared at the copper teapot in front of him that was emitting heat with a pale face, obviously still in shock.

However, no matter how annoyed the two young wizards in the dormitory were, Zheng Qing, busy on the balcony, turned a deaf ear to it all.

His attention was all focused outside the window.

The elves had accepted his request and flew out to negotiate with the Fat Cat hiding in the crevice. Although Zheng Qing didn’t know how the elves communicated with Fat Cat, this did not affect his judgment that the situation was moving in a positive direction.

One very strong piece of evidence was that Fat Cat didn’t mind the elves taking the watch off its tail, and from a distance, Zheng Qing could hear Tuan Tuan’s contented purring sound.

This was a sound cats make when they are pleased.
