Chapter 762: Chapter 110: I’ve Got This Fox Covered! _1

On the lakeʼs shore, in the woods, on open ground.

A bunch of cats and a group of foxes were sitting separately, forming two distinct camps, glaring at each other. Additionally, a few scruffy little mice were squeezed between the cats and foxes, huddled together, shivering with fright.

Clearly, a conflict had arisen between the two groups of animals over their prey.

Leading the group of cats was the little ragdoll kitten that Zheng Qing had once kept by his side. The kitten had grown a lot over the days, and its courage had grown considerably as well. When Zheng Qing had first met him, it was even scared to get close to the group of cats, worried about being suppressed under the claws of a larger cat. But now, not only did the ragdoll kitten confidently strut around with its tail raised among the other cats, but it also occasionally bared its teeth and growled a few times at the foxes.

In contrast, the forest cat, which had once competed with the black cat for the position of ’leader’, had become much more composed. Faced with the ferocious looks of a group of frolicking little foxes, it always lazily lay behind the ragdoll cat, looking like a little leopard, occasionally moving its thick tail, sweeping up frost and snow.

Compared with this orderly group of cats, the group of little foxes on the other side seemed to be at sixes and sevens.

Although the leading red fox tried its best to make a fierce appearance, standing its ground in the face of advancing cats, anyone could see its disadvantage — behind the red fox, other little foxes of different colours like white, yellow, and grey, were not arranged neatly like the group of cats, but were still happily playing on their own.

For example, one little fox had dug up a shiny black beetle from the snow pile and was shrieking happily as it flipped the bug over, buried it in the snow, soaked it in a puddle of water, and finally peed on it. The poor beetle, which had survived the harsh winter weather, ultimately did not escape the cruel claws of the little fox. In the end, it gave up trying to escape, lying on its back, staring desolately at the grey sky above, refusing to move at all.

Some little foxes were pairing up and playing tug-of-war with their tails — an innovation presumably from one of the foxes. For these little foxes, who possessed varying degrees of spiritual energy, pushing their physical limits seemed to be quite fun.

So, when the black cat broke into the scene, leading two short wizards from outside the woods, they witnessed a somewhat awkward scenario — the group of cats, with their round eyes of varying colours, were motionless, glaring at the red fox; the red fox was baring its teeth, unwilling to back down while the other foxes behind it were happily playing all by themselves, with only a few paying attention to the confrontation and glaring back.

”Is this the ’big trouble’ you mentioned?” After several observations, the black cat confirmed that the small animals on the scene were doing nothing more than staring at each other — maybe the only thing to worry about were the few little mice sandwiched between the cat and fox groups; they were shivering like they were in the throes of a seizure. The young cost student lifted his paw, pressed it against his forehead, turned back, and gave Lin Guo a slightly speechless look.

He had thought he would find the animals already in a fight, with dead cats and foxes lying around, their bodies gradually growing cold in the wind. Turns out, he had let his imagination run wild. After all, no animal that caught the attention of the students from the top university would be simple-minded.

Only Zheng Qing, worried out of love for both his group of cats and Poseidon, had hurried over after wasting a transformation potion — compared to a transformation potion, a certain Mr Su’s big fox spirit obviously carried a more significant deterrent effect.

Lin Guo didn’t sense Zheng Qing’s helplessness, but instead nodded earnestly: ”Yes! Exactly! Look, they are about to start fighting!”

Even Xiao Xiao couldn’t help sighing deeply at this point.

”I suppose this is what they call a generation gap.” The black cat muttered dispiritedly.

Before the words had faded, with a pleasant meow, the ragdoll kitten walked elegantly and gently over to the black cat. On seeing the ragdoll kitten act this way, the red fox, sitting opposite the group of cats, shifted uncomfortably and looked back seeking help from its companions.

But after looking back, it was livid.

Aside from the little foxes playing with their tails, bugs, and snow, a jubilant little fox had even run up to the group of wizards, barking and jumping around, seeming to be very eager to please.

”Poseidon?” Xiao Xiao squatted down and stared at the little fox in front of him. After some hesitation, he finally spoke the name uncertainly. The little fox in front of him barked in response and wagged its tail wildly.

”I remember its blue markings were very clear... why can’t I see them now?!” Lin Guo, who was by his side, exclaimed in surprise: ”I found it familiar earlier but I didn’t dare to make sure.”

”It’s probably due to shedding seasonal fur, or it could be that those blue wave-like markings, similar to kitten fur, faded as it grew older.” The black cat slowly explained from his side, sighing in relief internally.

It was fortunate they came today. Apparently, this little rascal really did cause trouble. Better safe than sorry. If the cat group suddenly turned wild, beating up the little foxes across, then it would have undoubtedly brought him trouble in the end.

”Poseidon, come here!” The black cat raised his paw and casually called out.

The little fox, which had been hopping around near Xiao Xiao, paused when it heard the familiar name. It turned its head to look at the black cat next to it, looking completely baffled.

”It doesn’t know you. If you call it, it will respond...” Lin Guo hadn’t finished speaking when he quickly swallowed his words, nearly biting his tongue in the process.

The little fox crinkled its small black nose and approached the black cat, sniffing curiously, with a troubled expression on its face. It was apparent that it found the black cat in front of it very familiar but couldn’t quite link it with a certain wizard in its memory. In contrast to it, the ragdoll cat who was sitting next to Zheng Qing was vigilantly watching the little fox, fearing it would harm its master. It was just short of planting its claws on the little fox’s face.

The black cat was getting impatient. He lifted his paw, scooped up the little fox over to his side, and flattened his ears to look at the group of cats and kittens at a distance. He yelled, ”I am shielding this cat! Don’t bother it in the future!”

The group of cats stared round-eyed, their gaze circling between the black cat and little fox multiple times, but they kept quiet.

Xiao Xiao, standing behind the black cat, wore a blank expression on his face.
