High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 780: Chapter 128 Can’t Think of a Title_1

Xin Fat Man plucked a segment of green, sugar and vinegar garlic from the small dish in Zheng Qing’s hands, stuffed it into his mouth, crunched a few bites, and then raised his head, looking at the young student with teary eyes. He repeated the question he had asked many times:

”Have you seen my gerbil?”

”Eat quickly, the buns aren’t tasty when they’re cold.” Zheng Qing avoided the question Fat Man cared about the most, muttering vaguely, and then lowered his head, sipping congee in small mouthfuls.

Just then, a thick scarlet curtain behind them was yanked open with a ’whoosh’.

”If you warm up a bag of AB type virgin blood for me, I promise to help you keep an eye out for that dead rodent.” Dylan, unsure of when he had lifted the lid of his coffin, revealed half of his pale face from inside the tent, looking around the dormitory listlessly, complaining: ”You guys don’t sleep during the day, do you? I feel like I just closed my casket five minutes ago, and you’ve already woken me up...”

”You could try adjusting your sleep schedule.” Zheng Qing was delighted at the change of topic and quickly chimed in, offering his suggestion to Mister Wolfman: ”You’re not particularly sensitive to sunlight, you could entirely attempt following Friedman or Matthew’s sleep-wake cycles...”

”That breaks tradition!” Dylan flatly denied: ”A true vampire should go out at night and sleep during the day!”

The young student shrugged his shoulders, indicating his helplessness.

Fat Man was holding a cup of soy milk, his lips moved slightly as if he was murmuring something, but his voice was too soft that Zheng Qing didn’t notice at all.

However, Xiao Xiao standing on the other side did notice.

”Stop muttering. We can help you look for it.” Doctor Xiao sighed, glanced at the student meaningfully, and reminded: ”Don’t forget, we have to go over to D&K to do some organizing work later. We can’t waste all our time looking for Fat Man’s rat... Maybe we should search under the desk or bed. The Alchemy Rat is still a rat, it might like those dark corners.”

”OK, OK!” Zheng Qing blew his nose, and reluctantly agreed.

Then he took the cup of congee in his hand and came to the desk, ready to open a drawer.

”Wow! Look what I found...an alchemy rat’s head?!” The young student fished around inside the drawer and rummaged a piece of the missing gerbil from a corner. Then, he put on a surprisingly shocked expression looking towards Xin Fat Man: ”Fat Man, is this the gerbil you’re looking for?”

”Is this the gerbil I’m looking for?!!” Fat Man angrily looked at the public student, his chubby hand holding the rat head trembling in mid-air, his voice sounding twisted: ”Who did this!! Who the fuck did this!!”

”I don’t know.” Zheng Qing avoided eye contact guiltily, whistling innocently and denying it.

Admitting it was out of the question, he would vehemently deny it even at the cost of his life. He wasn’t smart enough to cause any diversion. All he could do was strictly deny it, to not get beaten by Fat Man on the spot. Although, from another perspective, there was nothing wrong with Zheng Qing’s denial. After all, it wasn’t him who ’killed’ the Alchemy Rat, it was a black cat.

From the perspective of the ”Wizard’s Code”, a wizard before and after transformation has the same behavioral abilities and can be identified as the same entity. However, from the standpoint of the philosophy of magic, the ’individual’ before and after transformation, both in terms of appearance and thinking, differ significantly, strictly speaking, it is not the same ’individual’.

Watching Zheng Qing’s steady denial, Dylan, who was lying beside the coffin, began laughing uncontrollably.

Meanwhile, Xin Fat Man looked at the young student in shock.

”I have never seen someone so shameless in my life.” The straightforward Blue Giant stated.

”Exactly!” Dylan looked at Zheng Qing while laughing, adding: ”I remember when you first arrived at the dormitory, you used to blush at the slightest discomfort... Ah, those youthful days. Back then, you were such a shy kid.”

”I used to be shy.” Zheng Qing lifted his arm, let the elf take away his finished bowl of congee, and seriously added at the same time: ”But as the saying goes, one gets dyed when one is near cinnabar or black when one is near ink. Due to your influence, my soul has blossomed.”

”Hmm...” Fat Man sneered, grabbed the public charge student’s collar and yanked him to the balcony: ”Blossoming is your business, the rat dying is my business. Since there’s no gerbil, you’re going to have to communicate with the Fat Cat to get my watch back... I should remind you, all the new furniture I ordered a few days ago is in my watch. If it’s not retrieved, even if you go to the store today, there’s nothing for you to organize!”

At Fat Man’s words, Zheng Qing sighed exasperatedly.

Because their upcoming store, D&K, was expected to open, everyone had been spending their free time recently arranging and redecorating the store. Everyone in the Absolution hunting team had been assigned different tasks.

For instance, Xiao Xiao was in charge of budgeting, Dylan was in charge of interior design, Zheng Qing and Blue Bird were the laborers, and Lin Guo was the supervisor; using his reputation from years of wandering on pedestrian streets, he brought everyone discounted milk teas and other snacks. After working hard for half a day, enjoying a steaming beverage couldn’t be more relieving.

Xin Fat Man was in charge of procurement.

Maybe because he was always searching for various delicacies around the world, or maybe his keen sense of smell as a part-time journalist, or perhaps it was just Fat Man’s innate talent. In any case, he always knew how to sift through the myriad of goods to find the best items at the lowest prices. For the hunting team on a tight budget, having a competent procurement officer was more valuable than having a hundred laborers.

Therefore, after Fat Man claimed that all the items he had purchased were stuffed into his watch, Zheng Qing had to put aside his objections, grit his teeth, and go negotiate with Fat Cat on the balcony.

”Isn’t the Elder coming today?” Seeing Zheng Qing hanging out halfway from the window, trying every method to negotiate with the fat cat, Dylan suddenly thought of something, whistled at Doctor Xiao, and asked: ”What’s he been busy with these days? It feels like he’s extremely busy...”

”He’s busy avoiding pursuit.” Xiao Xiao scoffed: ”The day before yesterday, Zheng Qing turned into a cat in the evening to ask him for the seeds of the Speaker Flowers and Shadow Preserving Herb, and ended up pulling his tail... Remember, cats are always sensitive creatures.”

”I heard what you said!” Zheng Qing, whose head was still out of the window, suddenly turned his head, knocked on the glass through the window, and emphasised in a dreadful tone: ”Tell Red Face, if I catch him, I’ll make a bunch of cats scratch his face until it bleeds!”
