High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 755: Chapter 103 Double Red_1

”Your eyes!”

The Gypsy witch shrieked, her finger tracing the remaining half of the leaf, her expression one of helplessness.

At her exclamation, the cobra, originally lain slack on the ground, perked up as though discovering a new world, its attention zealously directed towards the young cost student. Its vibrant red split tongue flicked back and forth in the air, akin to a wind-battered rubber band.

”Eyes?”

Zheng Qing touched his eyelid, perplexed. He didn’t feel that there was anything wrong with his eyes. On the contrary, because of the dispersal of the terrifying magical fluctuation just now, he felt uniquely relaxed.

”Hmm, your eyes have turned red again.” Old Yao pointed his finger, causing a small stream of water to leap out from the Lin Zhong Lake. It formed a sphere, then in front of Zheng Qing, it condensed into a watery mirror.

Through this water mirror, Zheng Qing saw a pair of blood-red eyes, as if they were made of ruby.

”How did they turn red?!” The young cost student exclaimed in surprise, remembering something, he clamped his mouth shut.

Just a few weeks ago, his right eye had ’turned red’ for a while. It was during the fifth week of school when he and Lin Guo took part in the night patrol around Lin Zhong Lake. They encountered a crippled Kappa Monster on the lakeside. After the fight, it was discovered that his right eye had turned red - the school had not yet given a clear explanation about where the demon came from. However, that time, his right eye did not turn into a ’ruby’ as it had done today.

In the beginning, his right eye seemed to have been smacked heavily, the sclera dotted with many red blood spots, symptomatic of a bloodshot eye. The school hospital examined it several times but could not arrive at a clear conclusion. They could only assert that he was in excellent health, with all indicators normal.

In the following days, those blood spots didn’t dissipate with time, but instead, spread bit by bit until it filled his entire right eye.

An inappropriate comparison perhaps, but Zheng Qing felt that his eye resembled a white balloon filled with red paint that had several small holes poked into it. In the beginning, only the areas around the holes had turned red. Later on, the red paint leaking from the small holes became more and more, until the entire white balloon was dyed red.

Of course, this analogy was not approved by the therapy team of the school hospital - those therapists with dark bags under their eyes and weary expressions solemnly told the young cost student that although there were blood vessels in the eyeball, most of it was filled with a transparent, colorless vitreous humor. If an eyeball was punctured, it would not simply leave a few blotches on the sclera.

As for why his right eye turned completely red, after extensive research, the therapists from the school hospital still did not have a clear answer. Based on their vague statements, in this magical world, anything was possible.

It was only last month, when Zheng Qing participated in the freshmen match, after experiencing several significant shocks, that his right eye suddenly returned to normal.

After examination by the school hospital, they still could not provide an accurate answer - perhaps it was due to the great terror between life and death he experienced during the hunting match, or the immense joys and sorrows after. Another possibility was because of the ’shadow of his past’ that had run out of his body.

In conclusion, the only thing the therapists could confirm was that his right eye’s ’bloodshot condition’ had disappeared. He was perfectly healthy, with all his physical indicators within the reasonable range, and there were no abnormalities.

As Professor Yao had been part of Zheng Qing’s extensive series of examinations and treatment plans for his red eye, when Zheng Qing’s eyes turned red again, he was surprisingly the calmest one.

”It’s alright, the medical staff from school will be here in a few minutes. After they arrive, you can go with them for a thorough medical examination.” Old Yao comforted, patting the young wizard on his shoulder and adding: ”If you feel pressed for time, you don’t have to attend tonight’s class meeting. I’ll inform Tang Dun, it won’t affect your attendance.”

Was this really the time to be worrying about attendance? The corner of Zheng Qing’s mouth twitched. He stared blankly at the pair of rabbit eyes in the water mirror in front of him, his mind in turmoil, a seething mass of grievances in his belly. Yet he didn’t know where to start venting.

All in all, he had just been at the school for a full fourteen weeks from the beginning of the term, almost spending an entire week in the school hospital. Although he couldn’t compare with those lunatics from Starry Sky Academy, who spent half a year in the school hospital at a time, such frequency and intensity in Jiuyou Academy, are absolutely unprecedented. Zheng Qing felt that the total number of full-body examinations he had undergone in the past two months seemed to be more than all the ones he had in the past eighteen years.

”Do your eyes hurt? Should we head to the hospital right now?” Elena grabbed the young cost student’s arm, her tone anxious. ”Many people do not feel pain when they bleed. Once they do, it will be too late... I think we should go to the school hospital first!”

Her expression was very determined, a deep concern revealed in her voice, which deeply moved Zheng Qing.

”If Professor doesn’t need us here...” The young cost student glanced at Professor Yao for confirmation. If their presence wasn’t needed here, he would be more than willing to head to the school hospital with the witch.

In a way, this would be an extension of their date! The young wizard thought, pleased.

”Regarding other matters...” The professor pondered, and turned to look at the pale-faced black-robed wizard standing behind him.

”Although their appearance here was accidental, as a precaution...” He lifted his right hand, glanced at the two young wizards, then pointed a finger, stirring around his temple before shifting his gaze back to Dean Yao.

This was not a friendly move.

Of course, it was impossible to kill anyone. The school would never allow any casual harm to come upon its students. But to let the two young wizards witness such confidential affairs and then leave with clear memories wouldn’t benefit the school’s interests either.

So the most likely outcome would involve some tampering with their memories.

For seasoned senior wizards, modifying memories is not a difficult spell.

A chill suddenly sprang up from Zheng Qing’s heart - magic, when it comes to matters of the mind, is a very unfriendly tool. It doesn’t need to rely on luck like ordinary people inducing amnesia, but can wipe away specific memories from your mind through precise manipulation.

Professor Yao turned around to look at the two young wizards and the cobra.

The cobra flicked its split tongue and swished its tail in an attempt to flatter him.

”No, it’s not necessary.” The dean of Jiuyou Academy smirked at the corner of his mouth, speaking in a gentle voice to the black-robed wizard: ”Just prepare a suitable Silence Contract... They are all students of the school. If we can’t trust them, who can we trust?”

”Moreover, this is a prestigious institution. Even if something goes awry, what’s the big deal!”

”What about the snake?” The black-robed wizard inquired.

”Hmm, just bleed it a little and form a Blood Covenant. It will have the same effect.” The professor indifferently waved his hand, then turned to the two young wizards. ”I’m going to check their progress on restoring the environment. You two stay here, don’t move around... After signing the Silence Contract, report to the wizard just now, then you can go to the school hospital.”

”If you feel pressed for time, you don’t have to attend tonight’s class meeting, rest well, you still have classes tomorrow.”
