High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 763: Chapter 111: Unexpected Visitor_1

”You’re talking human language to a bunch of cats, do you think they understand?!”

Doctor Xiao lowered his voice and roared, almost yanking the black cat’s ears, ”Even if it were Poseidon, I don’t think he would recognize you!”

That wasn’t entirely inaccurate—Little Fox looked at the black cat with a gaze that was three parts familiar, seven parts strange. But it didn’t mean that Zheng Qing had no solution for it—the black cat flattened its ears, cutting off Doctor Xiao’s noisy rant.

”Next time I morph, I’ll just bring him close to me.” The black cat didn’t seem to care, it just waved its paw, ”Poseidon is so smart in my house, I’m sure he can remember.”

”That’s a problem for next time...I think, we should first solve the troubles at hand.” Lin Guo, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke, pointing to the cats and foxes that were slowly gathering around, then to the few mice pretending to be dead, ”It seems like the cats and foxes conflicted over these mice, what should we do...”

”Split them five ways into two groups, each group gets half. If they don’t agree, give them a good thrashing.” The black cat boasted, suddenly growing twice as large and scaring Poseidon into a tumble.

Xiao Xiao didn’t say anything, instead, she picked up a branch from the ground, drove away the obstructing cats and foxes, and prodded the pretending-to-be-dead mice on the ground.

”If I’m not mistaken, there are five mice here.” After counting them, Doctor Xiao looked over at his group, ”What about the extra one? Should we split it in half?”

at the sound of this suggestion, the black cat’s mind was filled with a bloody image. Tilting its head backward, it displayed an expression of disgust.

In contrast, Lin Guo rolled up his sleeves enthusiastically when he heard Doctor Xiao’s advice. He shouted, ”Dissect them? Live dissection or after anaesthesia? I brought a bone saw, an axe, a boning knife. I only have a little bit of anaesthetic, but it should be enough for one mouse, right...”

Saying this, he removed his backpack and took out a small box, tossing it to the ground with a ’thud’.

”Don’t mention such cold-blooded things so casually!” The black cat glared, its body swelling up again in an instant. It was now taller than the little wizard. With one swipe of its paw, it knocked Lin Guo into a pile of snow under a tree nearby, ”At such a young age, can’t you expose yourself to more of the truth, goodness, and beauty?!”

Poseidon, who had barely just scrambled up, collapsed on the spot again at the sight of the black cat growing in size once more.

And the other foxes around weren’t any better than Poseidon. They screeched and scattered, panic-stricken. Many of them jumped directly into the snow next to them, burying most of their bodies and leaving only fluffy tails outside, trembling in the cold wind.

Compared to the foxes, the group of cats was much calmer—after all, this wasn’t the first time the black cat had shown them this magical ability to change sizes—but even so, the sudden appearance of a huge black cat in front of them still gave many of the cats a shudder, their bodies curling up into a ball. Even the forest cat—which had been lazing on the ground the entire time—couldn’t help but stand up, its tail tightly tucked between its legs.

”Tch, why did I adopt such a cowardly fox,” the black cat grumbled with a dissatisfied look. Of course, he could only mutter these things here. If he dared to say something like this at the Qingqiu Club on Pedestrian Street, Su Daxu would surely throw him into the second dimension world for a few hundred cycles.

”As the saying goes, ’people are influenced by their surroundings.’ Why do you think your fox is such a wimp? He takes after you, doesn’t he?” Doctor Xiao gave the black cat a sidelong glance, shocking everyone by his rare use of a swear word.

”Hey, hey, hey, you can eat reckless meals, but you can’t talk recklessly...You have to be responsible for what you say!” The black cat opened its huge mouth wide, showing a mouthful of sharp teeth, then extended its red tongue and licked its mouth in a threatening manner: ”It seems like a certain someone’s head wouldn’t fill my mouth...considering the many years we’ve been roommates, I’d give you another chance to rephrase your words!”

Xiao Xiao adjusted her glasses, her face expressionless. She took out the Law book from her bosom, flicked her hand and opened the book to a page. In the blink of an eye, rings of green light rose from her Law book, and waves of forming magic power were ready to launch.

”Huh?! You can’t take a joke?!” The black cat involuntarily backed off—although it could change its size, that was about all it could do. Facing a wizard equipped with a Law book, it felt a bit uneasy—so it shouted, ”We’re roommates! Grabbing the Law book so quickly, what does that look like? Can we still have fun afterwards...”

Doctor Xiao twitched the corners of his mouth, looking at the black cat’s shiny black face. After being silent for a while, he could only turn his head away, out of sight, out of mind.

”Hahaha, too hilarious! Is this the style of the top university wizard? Saying everything straight and opposite leaving others speechless!”

A sharp laugh came from overhead, and the already nervous cats all looked up.

The black cat also alertly lifted its head.

Between the branches above, a mouse in a green vest was hooking a branch with its tail, hanging upside down with most of its body exposed, laughing hysterically. It laughed so hard that the snow accumulated on the thin branches kept falling, leaving some lovely white spots on the black cat’s head.

The black cat didn’t mind those white spots—it just shook off the snow from its fur—and continued to look up, staring at the mouse in the branches.

Although to Zheng Qing, all mice looked the same, the clothes this mouse was wearing seemed familiar.

So, the black cat hesitated for a moment, then it looked up and asked: ”Ding Dong Ear?”

That was the only mouse it knew that wore clothes.

”Ding Dong Ear?” The clothed mouse was taken aback, its tail slackened slightly, exposing more of its body, ”I’m not that nitwit... I’m Dangdang Ear.”

’What’s the difference!’ The black cat tugged at its ear, struggling to swallow its complaints.

Meanwhile, Lin Guo had climbed out of the snow pile, muttering to himself as he put the small box filled with carving tools back into his bag. And Poseidon, the fox beneath the black cat’s feet, also sneaked up to his feet and began to slowly make his way out of the small woods. The foxes that had been hiding in the snow pile were also drawn out by the unexpected guest in the tree. They gathered in twos and threes, just like the group of cats, looking up and staring at the little thing in the tree.
