Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 387: Chapter 209: Good Men and Faithful Women

Cameron Spencer said with a smile, ”Old Ray, you yourself are a very successful businessman and manager. Your company is doing very well. If you didn’t have your own company, I would have directly nominated you as the official CEO, not just the interim acting CEO.”

Old Ray’s heart stirred, and he quickly said with a smile, ”Let me try being the interim acting CEO first. If it doesn’t work out, I can go back to being the boss of my own company. But if it does work, brother-in-law, I would ask for a favor: I could shut down or sell my own company, and it would absolutely not affect my role as CEO of the Spencer Group!”

”Is that so? If you can truly shut down or sell your company, then of course, I have no issue. As long as all the board members present have no objection, you will be our official CEO of the Spencer Group.”

Cameron Spencer laughed heartily, not showing any sadness or resentment despite his son and daughter being pushed out of the company.

The directors in the meeting room each had their own thoughts seeing Cameron Spencer like this.

Some felt he was selfless, which boded well for the Spencer Group’s development.

Others felt he was too terrifying, cold-hearted, being able to joke with them even though his own son and daughter had been ousted from the company.

Is Cameron Spencer a benevolent person?

Of course not, which made the directors even more respectful.

Just a moment ago, they were furious and itching to tear Justus Spencer apart, but in front of the aged Cameron Spencer, they no longer dared to speak recklessly, and had no complaint about his proposal for Old Ray to be the interim acting CEO.

...

After the board meeting ended, the directors left the Spencer Group headquarters one after another.

The senior executives of the Spencer Group were already aware that their two top leaders, the CEO and CFO, had just resigned.

In positions like these, if they resigned, they would have excellent severance terms, such as receiving the same salary and benefits for a year, or even a hefty severance package, not vanishing into thin air.

If they left without any arrangement, it generally meant they had made a grave mistake and were dismissed by the board.

Thinking further that these two were the boss’s own children, but were still unceremoniously kicked out, the executives couldn’t help but feel tense.

If the Crown Prince and Princess can’t hold their ground, those of us without a background could only work harder to stay in the group.

Cameron Spencer maintained a gentle and kind smile until he sat in his car, when his smile gradually faded away.

He closed his eyes to rest during the whole drive, without saying a word.

Returning to the villa where he lived with Brooke Osborne, he found Spring Spencer was already waiting there.

He knew that today’s events had affected Spring Spencer because of the troubles caused by Justus Spencer.

If Justus Spencer had a broader perspective and knew some shame, he should have resigned like Spring Spencer.

Unfortunately, Justus wasn’t as smart as Spring; he didn’t realize in time, so Cameron Spencer had to personally step in to kick him out to preserve the Spencer Family’s face in the boardroom.

Otherwise, if those people had joined forces to buy up shares in the market, even Cameron Spencer’s stake could have been diluted, losing his dominant power in the boardroom.

Today’s events were truly dangerous.

Seeing Spring Spencer, he still maintained an impassive expression and said lightly, ”You’re here, have a seat.”

Spring Spencer asked worriedly, ”Dad, are you okay?”

”I’m fine,” Cameron Spencer sighed, ”You did well today. Actually, you didn’t need to resign; this matter has nothing to do with you. Your brother had to go, but you leaving, what am I supposed to do?”

”The Spencer Group can still be in the Spencer name for now, but without a qualified heir, after I’m gone, this group might not have the Spencer surname anymore.”

”Do you understand how important the CFO position is?” Cameron Spencer patted Spring Spencer’s hand, ”You have always been my proudest daughter, and I entrusted the most important position to you.”

In some sense, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) can be more important than the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Cameron Spencer needed to control the Spencer Group remotely, so the CFO had to be one of his own.

Spring Spencer smiled and said blushingly, ”Dad, I know, but I really don’t feel right staying in this position. And indeed, I made some mistakes in this matter. I feel I need more experience; for now, I’m not capable of holding such an important position.”

”I’m very happy and moved that you trust me like this, but when I realize my own inadequacy, I also need to step aside to make room for someone more deserving. Otherwise, it’s detrimental to the company’s development and also harms my own interests. Don’t forget, I’m also a major shareholder of the Spencer Group.”
