Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 376: Chapter 203: Born a Genius

In short, this is a set of low-cost, high-efficiency folk life-saving counterattack tricks!

Christopher Mason really has his eyes set on this thing.

Seeing Lydia Graham calling, Christopher Mason put on his Bluetooth headset and said calmly, ”Lydia?”

It’s rare for Lydia Graham to call him during work hours.

If she did, there must be something going on.

Lydia Graham was also busy, and got straight to the point: ”...Are you free today?”

Christopher Mason glanced at his watch, ”I’m going to have lunch with Ian in a while, what’s up?”

”Perfect,” Lydia Graham said unceremoniously, ”Your father-in-law lost a bet, and the wager is you making someone a certain country’s seafood fried rice. If you’re free at noon today, you better start preparing right away.”

Christopher Mason: ”???”

He thought he misheard, ”What did you say? Professor Lothrop lost a bet with someone? Why is the wager me cooking for them?”

Lydia Graham didn’t have time to explain, she just smiled and said, ”I don’t know the specifics, you’ll have to ask your precious son.”

With that, she hung up the phone.

Then thinking about Ian’s little trick, Lydia Graham suddenly burst out laughing uncontrollably at her desk.

Her little Ian was just too clever and adorable!

After laughing, she called Ian Lothrop: ”Dad, okay, take your friends to the official residence. By the way, can your friends pass the security check?”

Ian Lothrop was overjoyed and quickly said, ”They can, they can! They’ll head to my official residence first, then to your place!”

Ian Lothrop’s official residence was next door to Christopher Mason’s; they were practically family.

...

Christopher Mason sat expressionless for a while before shutting down his computer and standing up to head outside.

He casually dusted off the sleeves of his regular clothes and quickly arrived at Ian’s playroom.

He knocked on the door three times.

Kneeling in the middle of the playroom, Ian suddenly turned around. Seeing Christopher Mason’s tall figure at the door made his eyes light up, and he immediately stood up, stumbling toward Christopher Mason.

”Daddy! Are you done?! Ian missed daddy so much!” Ian hugged Christopher Mason’s leg, trying hard to climb up.

Usually, when he did this, Christopher Mason would bend down to pick him up.

But today, Christopher Mason just crossed his arms and looked down at him coldly.

That look—his high-level staff couldn’t withstand it.

But the three-year-old Ian was completely unfazed by his gaze; he just looked up happily and said, ”Daddy! Mission accomplished!”

Christopher Mason: ”...”

This little guy must be a prodigy, right?

Just three years old and already knows how to read people’s faces?

He scrutinized him closely, but on that snow-white little bun face, he didn’t see any trace of ”guilt” or ”remorse.”

It was all ”I completed my mission!”, ”I’m amazing,” ”Praise me”—the kind of self-satisfaction and pride unique to children.

”How did you complete the mission?” Christopher Mason asked coldly, ”If there’s a single lie, I’ll send you to full-time daycare immediately.”

Ian shivered involuntarily, quickly let go of his leg, stopped trying to climb on him, and stood straight, looking up and ”confessing” honestly.

”Daddy told me to get grandpa’s help, so I told grandpa that the big sister liked money and food, to find the best food for her, and if that didn’t work, give her money, and that would work.”

Christopher Mason remained unmoved, ”What else?”

”...Uh, I also praised Daddy’s seafood fried rice from a certain country to grandpa as the most, most, most delicious in the world!” Ian’s eyes sparkled, much like Lydia Graham’s, and a droplet of drool even hung at the side of his rosy lips.

Christopher Mason couldn’t help but smirk, took out a tissue, and bent down to wipe his drool, ”So you encouraged your grandpa to bet your dad’s fried rice, didn’t you?”

”...I didn’t encourage,” Ian shook his head repeatedly, ”Just hinted... hinted...”

His little head shook like a rattle drum.

Christopher Mason picked him up to sit on his arm and tapped his little nose: ”You’re really making use of public resources for personal gain, aren’t you the one who wants to eat Daddy’s seafood fried rice?”

”No, no, no!” Ian denied while one leg shook wildly side to side, as if saying ”Yes, yes!”

He was saying no with his mouth, but his body was very honest.

For a three-year-old to maneuver so well and manage to bring this matter to such a conclusion was already quite something.

But Christopher Mason didn’t praise him.

Because Ian’s personality really didn’t suit praise; even a glance could make him imagine himself as everyone’s sweetheart and apple of the eye, completely oblivious to the immensity of heaven and earth.

Christopher Mason carried him to the kitchen and said, ”I will make this seafood fried rice today because your grandpa lost the bet. However, this account will be marked against you. You will sit here and watch obediently now. You need to learn to make this dish and make it even better than me, so you can cook it for all of us in the future, alright?”

Ian stared at his dad for a good while before blurting out: ”...Daddy, using child labor is illegal!”

”You’re my son. It’s only natural for sons to be filial to their fathers.” Christopher Mason patted his head and secured him in a child’s high chair.

That chair had a seatbelt, once strapped in, there was no escaping.

But Ian, though he liked eating, really didn’t enjoy cooking.

At this moment, sitting in the high chair, watching Christopher Mason do boring prep work, he regretted a million times that he shouldn’t have come up with this ridiculous idea, to the extent that even his longing for the seafood fried rice wasn’t as tempting anymore.

...

When Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne were taken to Christopher Mason’s residence by Ian Lothrop, the lid on the seafood fried rice from a certain country was just being uncovered.

As soon as Lawrence Winters caught a whiff of that unique fragrance he had never smelled before, his fingers started itching, and he quickly said, ”What is this scent? What is this scent?! Oh my! This food only exists in heaven! Seldom experienced on earth! What a pity my mom, uncle, and master grandpa aren’t here, or they could taste this earthly delicacy too!”

Ian Lothrop, brimming with pride, said, ”This is the seafood fried rice from a certain country I told you about. How is it? Isn’t it great? I wasn’t lying to you, was I?!”

With Ian Lothrop being so smug, Lawrence Winters didn’t want him to be too pleased, so she rolled her eyes and said, ”Who knows? Lots of dishes smell good but taste mediocre...”

She chatted with Ian Lothrop as they were led to Christopher Mason’s kitchen.

The adorable little bun was sitting in the child’s high chair with an expression of utter gloom, propping one hand on his cheek, and his cute little brows nearly knitted into a knot.

”Huh? Why is it you?!” Lawrence Winters felt her heart nearly jump out of her throat with a jolt.

Christopher Mason turned around, his regular clothes accentuating his noble demeanor, and a steady presence emanated from him, the unrestrained pressure almost making Lawrence Winters’s knees go weak, ready to kneel on the spot.

”...Is-is-is-is it Christopher who personally made the seafood fried rice?!” Lawrence Winters’s eyes widened in delight, trembling as she could barely speak, ”...I, I, I can’t bear to eat it! I want to take it home and offer it with incense three times a day to The Three Pure Ones!”
