Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 356: Chapter 194: Henceforth the Ruler Neglects his Mornings

He shouted loudly, ”Great! Come on, Mr. Spencer, let’s drink this glass! Here’s to our pleasant cooperation in the future!”

Justus Spencer was overjoyed, trembling with excitement.

He raised his glass and clinked it with Luke Stern’s.

After finishing the meal, the two went back to Luke Stern’s company, called over their respective lawyers, and signed the contract in their presence.

Luke Stern sold Wayford Intelligence to Victory Wise Corporation for fifty billion. From the date the contract comes into effect, all affairs of Wayford Intelligence, including but not limited to all current assets, fixed assets, and long-term, short-term debts, will have nothing to do with Wayford Intelligence’s shareholders and will be entirely handled by Victory Wise Corporation.

After this contract is signed, it still needs further discussion by the Spencer Group’s board of directors before it can finally take effect.

Justus Spencer, clutching the preliminary signed contract, hurried back to the Southern Region to convene a board meeting, fearing that the longer the delay, the more risks would arise.

...

Kenneth Osborne finally settled the matter of Wayford Intelligence today, sitting in his chair motionless for some time.

This was his first time making his mark in the business world, relying not on technology or background, but entirely on himself, playing a risky game.

He looked at the photo of him and Joyce Shaw on his desk and silently said in his heart: Joyce, I’ve avenged you in my own way.

The afternoon sunlight filtered through the blinds, casting mottled patterns on the teak floor.

Kenneth Osborne got up, with a cigarette in his mouth, picked up a lighter, brought it up to his lips, and lit the cigarette, taking a long drag.

He had been on edge for this day.

There were too many variables, and he had just made a judgment call, taking a step forward amidst the chaos.

Finishing a cigarette quietly, he chewed some gum and left the office, heading towards the company entrance.

Blake Leaf’s office was near the door, and as Kenneth Osborne passed by, he smiled and said, ”I’m not feeling too well today, so I’m heading home early.”

Blake Leaf quickly stood up with a smile and said, ”No need to be so polite, Mr. Osborne. If you’re not feeling well, please head home. I’ve got things covered here.”

Kenneth Osborne nodded, opened the glass door of the company, and went out.

...

Returning home, he went to his room to freshen up, changed into casual home clothes, and with a cup of coffee, leisurely went to the door of Lawrence Winters’ bedroom and knocked.

”Come in.” Lawrence Winters, having slept all morning, was now leaning against the bed watching shows on an iPad.

Kenneth Osborne pushed the door open and went in, seeing her placing the iPad on the bedside table.

”Watching shows?” Kenneth Osborne sat on the single sofa beside her bed, crossing his legs.

Lawrence Winters nodded, smiling, ”There aren’t many good shows recently. I’m quite bored. Kenneth, why are you back so early today?”

Kenneth Osborne teased, ”I missed you, so I came back.”

Lawrence Winters snorted, wrinkling her nose, ”Kenneth, don’t try that on me.”

”What did I try on you? Hmm?” Kenneth Osborne relaxed, his smile carrying a charming tease, his captivating eyes filled with gentle allure.

Lawrence Winters felt her heart skip under his gaze but still smiled and said, ”It’s like that poem, ’Short is the spring night, rising late, from then on the king no longer attends morning court!’ Hahaha... Actually, you just went home early without working overtime, using that line is too much, it doesn’t fit the mood!”

Kenneth Osborne silently curved his lips, took a small sip of coffee, placed it leisurely on the coffee table, and said, ”Though it’s not accurate, it’s not too far off either.”

His smile subsided a little, and he softly said, ”Actually, I don’t know why, I just especially wanted to come back, especially wanted to see you.”

As he spoke, he gently took Lawrence Winters’ right hand from the blanket.

Her hand was a bit fleshy, soft and boneless, with a few dimples on the back, skin pale and tender, nails clean and pink, trimmed neatly, with no polish or nail art.

He couldn’t help but lift her hand to his lips, kissing her fingertips one by one.

Lawrence Winters giggled as his warm breath tickled her fingers, ”Alright, I know you just solved a troubling matter, do you need to confide in me? I’m listening...”

Kenneth Osborne felt a stir inside, ”You could see through that?”

”Don’t forget my original trade.” Lawrence Winters proudly lifted her head, ”The Little Heavenly Master is here, given time, I too will become the Great Heavenly Master!”

”Oh, I almost forgot.” Kenneth Osborne was unsure whether to laugh or cry, having a girlfriend who can ”read through” him meant almost no privacy.

But in truth, he enjoyed it.

”I did solve something today.” Kenneth Osborne said coyly, ”I signed a contract, not for money, but in exchange for some shares. — Twenty percent of that company’s shares.”

Lawrence Winters didn’t quite understand these things, so she just quietly looked at Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth Osborne was so handsome, anyone reading his fortune not only needed extremely profound skills but also exceptionally strong composure.

Because if they weren’t careful, they’d be drawn in by his looks and forget what they were observing.

Since agreeing to be with Kenneth Osborne, Lawrence Winters found his fortune to be clouded for her, not as clear as it used to be.

And she wasn’t skilled at fortune-telling, so she only took a cursory glance to know he’d be fine, smiling as she said, ”Kenneth, rest assured, what you do will succeed without a hitch.”

”Really?” Kenneth Osborne frowned, ”The contract is signed, but I still have some reservations.”

”What variables?” Lawrence Winters asked with a smile, ”Can you tell me? Of course, if you can’t, don’t say anything. I’m just curious.”

Kenneth Osborne nodded, ”It’s no secret. It’s like this, I signed a contract to sell one of my programs to a company in exchange for twenty percent of that company’s shares.”

”Now that the company is being acquired, I will obtain twenty percent of the acquisition price.”

Lawrence Winters immediately laughed, her eyes almost glowing, ”That’s great! Kenneth! Congratulations on your windfall! — Since the contract is signed, what worries do you have?”
