Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 245: Chapter 138: First Step to Flirting Achievement Get (Third Update)

”Why are you so hungry today?” Gabrielle Winters looked at her curiously, ”Was work especially busy today?”

”What could she be busy with?” Nick Zeller snorted, mumbling to himself, ”People who talk all day and still make so much money, really lucky...”

”Uncle, jealousy is a disease, it needs to be cured.” Lawrence Winters proudly raised his head at him, the shape of his delicate chin looking even sharper.

Kenneth Osborne thought she looked thinner, and quietly picked several slices of scrambled egg and beef for her with the communal chopsticks.

Lawrence Winters ate them all in a few bites, praising, ”Mom, your cooking has improved again, it’s really delicious!”

Gabrielle Winters laughed and said, ”If you like it, have more. Today’s tomato egg drop soup with minced meat is very good, want another bowl?”

”Sure, thanks Mom.” Lawrence Winters naturally passed the soup bowl over.

Gabrielle was about to take it when Kenneth intercepted it, saying, ”I’ll do it.”

He ladled another bowl for Lawrence, saying, ”The last bowl, no more. Eating so much at night, watch out for indigestion.”

”No way! After eating, I’ll take a shower and go to bed early. Tomorrow is Friday, if I get to the company early, I can leave early too.”

Actually, her job is basically 24/7 on-call, like an ER doctor.

It’s fine when there’s no issue, but once something happens, even at three in the morning, she has to get up immediately and face it energetically.

Fortunately, for these past four days, the artists at her company have behaved, with no explosive negative news requiring her as the spokesperson for the PR department to tackle.

Both Gabrielle and Nick were very pleased to see her working so diligently and enthusiastically during her first week.

Nick half-jokingly said, ”Lawrence, do you love this job so much you plan to do it forever? What about my Heavenly Master Office? I’m still waiting for you to take over!”

”Uncle, this is our family business, why hurry? Besides, you’re still so young. Even if you want to retire, it should be another ten or twenty years, right? No need to rush, no rush.”

Lawrence said with a smile, thinking to herself, I’m not even worried about Kenneth finding a girlfriend soon, inheriting the family business is a trifling matter...

After eating, she went to take a shower and then to her room to sleep.

Early next morning, while the other three in the house were still asleep, she got up, got ready, and planned to go to work.

Kenneth came out from the study he stayed in, already dressed in a black suit, and said to Lawrence, ”I’ll take you.”

Lawrence and Kenneth’s routes actually don’t align.

Lawrence works at the Foster Consortium building located in the CBD district at the very center of Capital City’s Third Ring, while Kenneth’s rented office is in the high-tech industrial zone of the South Fourth Ring.

Their living place is roughly halfway between these two locations.

Lawrence hurriedly waved her hand saying, ”No need, no need, I’ll take the subway, it’s very quick.”

Since she left so early, the subway wasn’t crowded at all.

”You should buy a car.” Kenneth didn’t heed her, taking his briefcase and car keys, heading downstairs with her, ”Driving yourself is more comfortable than taking the subway.”

”But driving during rush hours is so congested, even worse than the subway. For now, I don’t really feel like driving.” Lawrence shook her head and yawned.

They got into Kenneth’s Tesla, which he drove fast and steadily, soon reaching the Foster Consortium building.

Lawrence got out of the car, just about to turn and walk, when Kenneth got out from the other side, walked up to her, adjusted her white silk collar, and said, ”Nora, don’t bear it alone if you’re upset.”

”Huh?” Lawrence paused, then laughed, ”Alright, alright! I will! Thank you Kenneth! Kenneth, you’re so kind!”

Kenneth smirked, saying nothing else, leaned down to whisper in her ear, ”...stop pretending to smile. You think I don’t see you’ve been having a rough week?”

”How could that be? Even my uncle didn’t notice.” Lawrence reflexively retorted.

”...So you’re admitting you’ve had a rough week?” Kenneth slowly straightened, a smile played on his lips.

Lawrence: ”...”

”Kenneth, that’s not fair.” Lawrence pouted, ”Honestly, this week, the junior Foster was away on a business trip abroad, so some old hands thought they could show off before me. I’ve tolerated them for a week. Today I brought a flyswatter, if they buzz around me again, I’ll swat them down without mercy!”

Kenneth saw her lively spirit and didn’t say much more.

Every step in the workplace has to be taken by herself, whether handling things smoothly or hitting roadblocks, she must rely on herself.

Kenneth knew better than anyone that people like them, without any family background, rely on their own abilities to navigate society.

For him and Lawrence, during school, the hardest difficulty faced was not achieving the top grade.

But in society, no one gives you a fair test; everyone starts at an unequal starting line.

What else can you do?

Of course, you push yourself to retake this university called ”society,” reclaiming the prestige of being a top student.

Regretfully, he lightly pinched Lawrence’s peach-shaped face and said softly, ”Endure a bit more, once my company grows, come be my spokesperson, I’ll give you shares and dividends, so you no longer have to endure this trivial stuff.”

”Huh? Kenneth is so kind? Even if you have a girlfriend, you’ll still let me be the spokesperson and shareholder?” Lawrence’s eyes lit up, her peach-shaped little face filled with the yearning for ”eternal friendship.”

Kenneth: ”...”

”...Um, no. Once I have a girlfriend, you can’t be the spokesperson or shareholder at my company.” Kenneth mercilessly swatted away the six big words ”eternal friendship” hovering over Lawrence’s head.

After speaking, he turned back to the car and swiftly drove away.

Lawrence stood by the roadside, disdainfully pouting.

As if she didn’t see it.

Clearly he originally forgot the ’can’t be friends after finding a girlfriend’ nonsense, until she reminded him...

Kenneth, this person...hmm...is indeed quite nice to her.

Lawrence turned and walked towards the Foster Consortium building, feeling ready again to face the office group who don’t respect her.
