Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 240: Chapter 135: The Teaser Gets Teased (Third Update)

More importantly, although our Edward isn’t very old, he still has only one child.

...

After the meeting, Edward Foster rode home with his father.

Gabriel Foster said quietly, ”Get the cash ready, find someone to buy all the shares from Director Yu during this period. He only holds 2% of the shares, as long as his family is willing to sell, it won’t be a problem.”

Edward nodded knowingly and smiled, ”I’ve been fed up with that old man for a long time, but you kept him around.”

”I only gave him one last chance, and since he didn’t seize it, he can’t blame me for being ruthless.” Gabriel said coldly, ”If he hadn’t leaked information to Cameron Spencer back then, your grandfather wouldn’t have been driven to his death.”

Edward’s smile faded, and he said seriously, ”That inside traitor is him?! Why didn’t you get rid of him earlier?!”

”He didn’t do it deliberately.” Gabriel shifted his gaze, looking at the nighttime scenery outside the car window, and said lightly, ”He regretted it a lot afterwards and later gave 3% of the shares to the Foster Family for free.”

Edward was stunned, ”He originally had 5% of the shares?!”

”Yes, he was once your grandfather’s longest-standing partner.” Gabriel closed his eyes, a mocking smirk on his lips, ”Your grandfather’s eye for people... hehe...”

Edward glanced at his father, wisely chosen not to elaborate, and lowered his head to swipe open his phone, sending a WeChat message to Lawrence Winters.

[Boss]: My spokesperson, you really have some nerve today! You used the company account for personal purposes without telling me! Anger.JPG.

In the room where Lawrence was, there was laughter and cheer.

Francis Johnson was indeed the self-proclaimed ”Prince of Love Songs,” having just sung a duet with Sister Three Billion and now wanting to sing with Lawrence Winters.

Lawrence was eager but hadn’t picked up the microphone yet when she saw her boss’s WeChat.

She quickly passed the mike to Crazy Sister, saying, ”Crazy Sister, you take over, I have something to reply to.”

Crazy Sister laughed and sat over, looked at the song Francis chose, and pulled a face, saying, ”Another Paradise? This duet is a bit tricky... I can’t do the dolphin sound...”

”You should give it a try, use falsetto, it’s not that hard.” Francis smiled and gave her a demonstration.

Crazy Sister listened carefully, then nodded, ”Alright, I’ll give it a try.”

Francis’ voice was rather clear and high.

”You replace this second of emptiness in my life.

Problems suddenly find answers, no explanations required.”

Crazy Sister’s voice was also light and ethereal, somewhat similar to the original singer.

She lifted the microphone, ”Your smile is a code.

I can decode the beauty.

The dream is not big.

Wanting to stay in this second forever.”

While the two were singing their duet, Lawrence was sweating profusely, facing the boss’s ”interrogation.”

She awkwardly smiled and replied, ”Sorry, boss, I was also angry at the moment and didn’t switch accounts in time.”

Edward feigned anger: ”Didn’t switch accounts in time?! You know how much trouble that tweet caused me? Shouldn’t I ask you to compensate for my losses?!”

Lawrence was apologizing at first, but when she heard about ”compensation,” she instantly resisted.

She pursed her lips and began changing her tone in reply, ”Boss, am I not the spokesperson you hired for external communications?”

Edward was initially enjoying himself but became particularly pleased when Lawrence yielded.

Unexpectedly, Lawrence suddenly changed her tone, and his automatic reply was, ”Yes, why?”

His momentum quickly subsided.

Lawrence raised her eyebrows, understanding what her boss was playing at.

The stone in her heart finally settled, and she needed to restore her dignity.

[Spokesperson]: Boss, since I am your spokesperson, even though I haven’t formally onboarded, because you already gave me the position and the official account, that means I effectively started early, even by labor law, our employment relationship is established.

[Boss]: ...oh.

[Spokesperson]: That means I am already the official spokesperson for NewHuman Corporation. As a spokesperson, can I have some autonomy? Should I have to show you every tweet for approval in the future before I can post it? If so, what do you hire a spokesperson for? You could tweet yourself. A weary smile.JPG.

Seeing Lawrence’s emoji expression softened his heart, Edward quickly replied, ”I was only joking with you, not really blaming you. When the board meeting asked about this today, I directly said I asked you to post it, don’t worry, it’s fine. Today it was my fault, shouldn’t have scared you.”

Lawrence smirked slightly when she saw this reply.

Haha, still can’t handle you, this simple-minded Edward!

She deliberated on how to respond, when Edward noticed she hadn’t replied for a long time and worried she might really be upset and quit.

In his eyes, Lawrence had this ”if you don’t appreciate me, I will immediately leave” kind of magical vibe.

This ”fearless” aura made Edward unable to act superior in front of her, which troubled him.

Finally, Lawrence replied, ”If you find me unsuitable, you can say so early. Our employment contract is based on free will. Also, the Spencer Group’s press conference starts in the evening, do you expect the board to work overtime at night?—Don’t invent excuses, I won’t believe a word of it.”

Edward then realized what angered Lawrence, became anxious, and quickly sent a voice message, ”Lawrence, we really did have a meeting today, the entire board and executives watched the Spencer Group’s press conference together. That’s why they discovered your tweet was trending...”

Lawrence exclaimed ”Oh,” and replied, ”I see, it’s okay, I forgive you, it’s getting late, go get some sleep. Good night.JPG.”

Edward saw that Lawrence wasn’t upset anymore and happily turned off his phone.

But as he got out of the car, he suddenly remembered he was supposed to confront Lawrence!

How did it turn into him apologizing?!

This Lawrence Winters really has some skill!

He happily thought, this spokesperson is spot-on; with any online drama, she’ll definitely excel at handling it!

Thrilled, he wanted to share with someone and immediately called Lucas Harlow.

The phone rang for a while before it was answered.

The background noise was somewhat chaotic; could Lucas be hanging out at a bar?
