Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 221: Chapter 127: A Step to the Top

Summer Spencer: ”!!!”

”Really?!” She suddenly felt Molly Zimmerman wasn’t that annoying anymore. ”Really got along well with my brother?!”

Hazel Winchester nodded and said mysteriously, ”Don’t tell anyone, you’ve got to keep this secret for me. -- It’s not time to talk about it yet.”

”I know, of course, I know.” Summer Spencer’s eyes rolled as she constantly plotted.

Her brother’s wife Eva Harris’s family was also very powerful, big figures in the Capital City. Although now they’re retired, the Harris family’s descendants are strong, and the connections left by the older generation can still be used.

Considering Molly Zimmerman’s family background, it’s impossible for her brother to divorce his wife and marry her, not in this lifetime.

She hung up the phone, deep in thought in her office.

If this is true, it explains the recent change in the Zimmermann family’s attitudes.

Previously, they were submissive, obedient to her, but now they even started ignoring her.

Do they think their daughter can climb higher, so even her mother Hazel Winchester and herself, the second Miss of the Spencer Family, are disregarded?

So that’s how it is.

How laughable that her own mother thought she was paving the way for herself...

But she’s actually paving the way for the Zimmerman Family!

Does Summer Spencer need to be paved the way like this?

Summer Spencer thought, suddenly interested, she swiped open her phone and found Eva Harris’s number to dial.

Eva Harris was preparing dinner at her family’s courtyard house in the Capital City.

Justus Spencer’s injuries seemed severe, but they were actually just flesh wounds.

She returned to the Capital City and got renowned doctors, with the help of her parents, to examine Justus Spencer again, ensuring there were no issues before feeling at ease.

Justus Spencer and she had a foundation of affection. When they married, both families benefited, well-matched in social status, so their relationship had always been good since marriage.

However, she had not gotten pregnant even after years of marriage, which worried both families, and she herself was even more anxious.

In desperation, she even consumed incense ash dissolved in water from a small temple in H City, reputed for helping to conceive...

Yet, Justus Spencer never pressured her.

When Justus Spencer was beaten like this time, she realized her feelings for him were even deeper than she thought.

She called Justus Spencer out to sit under the grape arbor in the courtyard with her parents, brother, and sister-in-law’s family.

On the wooden square table, there were three plates of Beijing-style shredded pork, three plates of smashed cucumber, three heaps of sliced braised pig head meat, and three large plates of mixed cold salad, all ordinary home-cooked dishes.

But their cook’s ancestors used to be royal chefs, making even simple dishes extraordinarily exquisite.

After eating a few days like this, Justus Spencer felt he had to redefine the concept of ”simple meal.”

With these ordinary home-cooked dishes, he could eat three bowls of rice, and was visibly gaining weight.

Upon hearing the phone ring, Eva Harris didn’t answer it but called back after finishing her meal, while strolling in the courtyard.

”Summer, I didn’t hear your call during dinner, is there something you need so late?” Eva Harris asked with a smile.

Summer Spencer glanced outside, it was not even seven, how was it late?

She laughed, ”Sister-in-law, have you finished dinner?”

”Didn’t I just say, I was having dinner, so I didn’t hear.” Eva Harris replied politely.

She didn’t interact much with Summer Spencer but knew that the two Spencer sisters, Spring and Summer, were not easy to deal with.

However, Summer Spencer was slightly closer to them than Spring Spencer, because Justus Spencer had a good relationship with Summer Spencer and especially with her mother Hazel Winchester.

This was something Eva Harris could never understand.

She couldn’t figure out why Justus Spencer had an average relationship with his own mother but was close like mother and son with Hazel Winchester.

She didn’t like Hazel Winchester at all, but Summer Spencer was somewhat easier to deal with.

This girl was pretty, just not very bright, but always thought she was clever.

Eva Harris was being perfunctory with Summer Spencer, and Summer could sense it, but today she didn’t care.

”Sister-in-law, are you with my brother?” Summer Spencer asked with a smile, ”I heard that my brother came to the Capital City, is it for business? When shall we have a meal together?”

”Your brother was beaten up and injured, he’s in a wheelchair now, didn’t you know?” Eva Harris said calmly, wondering what Summer wanted from them this time.

Summer Spencer’s mouth hung open in shock, ”What?! My brother got beaten up?! By whom? Is it serious? Does it need to be reported to the police?!”

Hearing that Summer Spencer’s voice didn’t sound like she was pretending, and genuinely didn’t know, Eva Harris felt slightly better and said, ”Indeed, he was beaten, his leg is injured the worst, and he’s in a wheelchair now. We don’t know who did it either, and have reported it, but haven’t caught the perpetrator yet.”
