Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 237: Chapter 134: If You Want It, It’s Yours

When it comes to the ”Your Life” large-scale virtual reality game death incident years ago, it was a top event that captured worldwide attention.

Not only on social media but also on traditional media, including television stations, radio stations, and newspapers and magazines.

The cause of the incident was the core control system of this large-scale virtual reality game, which suddenly developed a certain level of self-thinking ability, evolving into an intermediate-level Artificial Intelligence, or AI.

This AI system originated from the intelligent program written decades ago by Paul Sterling, a renowned scientist from our country.

At that time, Thomas Stewart wasn’t even born yet...

Paul Sterling was the head of the Institute of High Energy Physics and was once the foremost figure in high-energy physics in our country.

But many years ago, he was sacrificed in a secret project in collaboration with another department.

So not many people know about him.

Until a few years ago, during that international incident of the game control system suddenly turning AI, the AI controlled players’ brainwaves in the virtual game, causing them to fall into a deep coma, and whoever removed their helmet would immediately die.

At first, many players’ family members who were unaware of the truth removed their helmets, leading to tens of thousands of deaths.

Subsequently, someone announced that the AI controlling the entire virtual game was the work of the ”evil doctor” Paul Sterling, blaming the entire game death incident on Sterling.

This was a deliberate smear by the mastermind because Paul Sterling had already been sacrificed and couldn’t defend himself.

It was Chief Investigator who noticed something amiss, staying in the virtual game to contend with the AI, while having Clara Sterling alert players worldwide, thus preventing more deaths.

Just like many previous online hot topics, this once real mass casualty event gradually faded from people’s memory after several years.

But many still remember.

Therefore, when Lawrence Winters brought it up, countless netizens stood out to support her.

[Isn’t living well?]: I remember! I just thought of it too, but didn’t dare to speak, fearing I’d be hunted down by Spencer’s trolls. Humble.JPG.

[Join in eating Fire Dragon Fruit]: Yes, yes! I was just thinking about this and wondering who crowned Thomas as the ”Father of AI.” Have they selectively forgotten about Paul Sterling?!

[If you love her, buy her a bag]: Alas, speaking of this incident, my girlfriend was killed by that game AI! I’m at odds with AI! — Against all forms of AI!

[Want to go home for New Year]: The person upstairs is too radical. AI out of control is indeed dangerous, but there are many things AI can do. What we need to do is learn how to control AI so it serves us without threatening our existence.

[Lawrence’s Promise]: No matter what you say, I support more people researching AI. Is it interesting to drag one down while pulling another up? In the emerging field, shouldn’t more people be getting involved? Yes, Spencer Group, I’m talking about you. Be careful, karma might bite you back for spending so much effort attacking AI Vision Promise!

...

After posting the rebuttal on her official work account’s Weibo, Lawrence Winters switched to her fan account ”Lawrence’s Promise” to support her official blog.

A fierce dual-front battle, split personality in full swing.

Kenneth Osborne glanced at her, watching her play with her phone, speechlessly curling his lips.

Francis Johnson also looked down at his phone, discovering the Weibo posted by NewHuman Corporation’s spokesperson on the official blog.

Then, he checked the replies below.

His phone has a specific program that allows him to see the IP address of the person posting Weibo simultaneously.

Different accounts with the same IP address are highlighted in red for him.

Thus, he quickly discovered that the IP address of NewHuman Corporation’s spokesperson matched ”Lawrence’s Promise.”

Francis Johnson glanced at Lawrence Winters and slightly curled his lips.

Lawrence still didn’t know that Francis Johnson had already discovered her alternate identity, but even if she knew, she wouldn’t care.

Because several people in the private room knew ”Lawrence’s Promise” was her and that she was soon to be the spokesperson for NewHuman Corporation.

So she didn’t really care.

Meanwhile, on Weibo, many people’s painful memories were resurfacing because of Lawrence Winters’ post.

More and more people were gathering under the Weibo post by NewHuman Corporation’s spokesperson, mourning their lost loved ones while expressing concern and distrust towards the development of AI technology.
