Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2385: Chapter 2386: I Don’t Quite Understand

Ning Zihan took a sip of his drink and glanced at her, but said nothing.

But An Baobei could feel that Ning Zihan was both angry and helpless with her. She lay on the little bar counter, cupping her face, and looked at him with a bright smile: ”I haven’t finished talking. I’m not going to let you just run away like this.”

Ning Zihan leaned there, eyeing her sideways, and snorted, ”What else do you have to say?”

An Baobei also eyed him sideways, ”The way you look, it makes my hands itch. If I give you a beating, will you obediently listen to what I have to say?”

Ning Zihan: ”...”

An Baobei burst into laughter: ”I was joking with you, and you took it seriously.”

”Couldn’t tell you were joking.”

”Did I let you see through it?” An Baobei chuckled softly, ”If you really don’t listen to me finish talking, I honestly wouldn’t mind beating you until you do.”

”...” Should he reconsider pursuing her?

Seeing him silent and lost in thought, she leaned in a little closer and asked with a smile, ”What are you thinking about?”

”Nothing.” He paused, ”If you have something to say, say it quickly and then leave.”

”Is that how you pursue me?” An Baobei was a bit dissatisfied.

Ning Zihan said blandly, ”I don’t feel like pursuing you today. Let’s talk about it in a few days.” He was very annoyed at the moment.

”I insist on saying it today!” she deliberately contradicted him.

Ning Zihan didn’t reply, he just took another sip of his drink.

An Baobei chuckled again: ”Make sure not to get drunk, it’d be bad if you end up calling me grandma all night like last time.”

Ning Zihan ignored her.

Only then did An Baobei tell the truth: ”That night, you didn’t call me grandma, nor did you swear, but you did say all night that you missed me, hehe~”

Ning Zihan immediately stopped drinking, but neither did he look at her, he just stared at the alcohol in his glass, silent, lost in thought.

About five minutes passed, and seeing that Ning Zihan still had no intention to speak, she finally said, ”I don’t quite understand your thoughts, but I can tell you this: I’m not the kind of person who would accept a man just out of gratitude.”

Ning Zihan just kept swirling the liquid in his glass, still not saying a word.

An Baobei didn’t mind at all and continued, ”Although I don’t quite understand, I do get what you mean. You don’t want me to accept you out of gratitude, you want me to accept you because I like you. But haven’t you thought, you actually already know I kind of like you, and I’m still considering being with you.”

Ning Zihan stopped swirling the glass, though he still didn’t look at her, keeping his eyes on the liquid in the glass, but listening more intently.

”I admit, knowing you donated bone marrow to my grandfather, I’m very grateful, but more than that, I’m deeply touched. You also said, I’m not stupid, I can figure it all out on my own. You kept this a secret, not wanting us to change our view, for what reason. It was for me. I really can understand all of it.”

At this point, An Baobei stopped talking, waiting for Ning Zihan to speak, but he remained silent.

With a slight sigh of helplessness, she continued: ”I can also understand that you never intended to hurt me from the beginning. You warned me not to like you from the start because you feared that I would get hurt by you. It’s me... I can’t control my heart, insisting on liking you, and liking you more and more, so any hurt I get from you is not your fault, it’s the consequences of my own actions.”
