Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2383: Chapter 2384: Ning Zihan Loses His Temper

Ning Zihan poured her a glass of water and said lightly, ”Doing a good deed without leaving a name, don’t you know that?”

An Baobei’s mouth twitched, ”It’s not funny at all!”

”I wasn’t joking.” He handed her the water and sat down on the sofa in the reception area.

An Baobei followed him to the lounge area, ”Then tell the truth! You know my grandfather, why would you do good deeds without leaving a name? Don’t try to fool me!”

Ning Zihan looked at her calmly and seeing how anxious she was, finally asked, ”Do you really want to know?”

”Yes!” An Baobei nodded vigorously. She was really curious. Her family was also very curious.

Ning Zihan was silent for a while, then said lightly, ”At that time, you all disliked me, and I didn’t want you to change your opinion of me, so I had Dr. Qian hide the fact that I donated the bone marrow.”

”Why didn’t you want us to change our opinion of you?”

Ning Zihan remained silent, closing his eyes and leaning back on the sofa, pinching his temples with his left hand, showing a somewhat pained expression.

An Baobei wouldn’t let him off the hook, pulling him, ”Don’t stop midway in your explanation!”

Ning Zihan opened his eyes and stared at her: ”You’re not stupid, you would know, wouldn’t you?”

An Baobei was silent immediately, no longer pulling him, and after a while, she said softly, with a complicated expression, ”You thought it was good we disliked you back then, didn’t want us to change our opinion, and didn’t want me to possibly fall for you because of it, right?”

Ning Zihan didn’t say yes or no, just said, ”You can leave now.”

This sentence was tantamount to answering her, affirming it. He didn’t want the Su Family to have any change of opinion about him, and he especially didn’t want her to change her view of him, thinking it was really better that way; she wouldn’t fall for him.

If she didn’t fall for him, she wouldn’t get hurt by him.

Of course, back then, all his thoughts stemmed from the fact that he liked her but had never planned to be with her.

”Ning Zihan...” Seeing him like this, An Baobei felt even more conflicted and didn’t know what to say.

When he pursued her before, she hadn’t felt that he was hurting her for her own good. Now, she truly felt it; his rejection, telling her not to fall for him, was all for her good, to prevent her from being hurt even more by him.

Just like her aunt said, he held a pessimistic attitude towards love and marriage, never thinking about being with anyone until he understood it and pursued her, treating her well.

At this moment, she believed that what he said before, that he probably liked her before he told her not to fall for him, was true.

If it weren’t true, there would be no way to explain all this.

Seeing An Baobei unwilling to leave, Ning Zihan felt irritated and simply left her, getting up to go.

But as soon as he took a step, An Baobei pulled him back.

She choked and asked him, ”You’ve figured it all out and are pursuing me, so why haven’t you said anything? If grandpa and I hadn’t overheard Dr. Qian calling you by accident, would you have kept it a secret?”

Now, thinking of how everyone despised him back then, yet he was the one who saved her grandfather, made her heart ache terribly. He must have felt even worse, being disliked by everyone.

Ning Zihan remained silent.

But An Baobei continued, ”If you had said it, I definitely would’ve changed my perspective of you; I wouldn’t have ignored you like when you first pursued me.”

Upon hearing this, Ning Zihan got angry, shook off her hand, and said furiously, ”That’s exactly why I didn’t say it!”
