Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2133: Chapter 2134: We’re Not Afraid (5)

”Why don’t you treat Lin Anrou that way? From now on, let Lin Anrou support you shameless people!”

As they spoke, everyone started encouraging An Jing again: ”An Jing, you must not be soft-hearted, if you are, we neighbors truly won’t want to speak to you anymore. They are just too much, treating Lin Anrou like a king but treating you worse than animals. At least they wouldn’t constantly beat and scold animals, right? Think about the life you used to live; we really can’t stand it anymore.”

An Jing always believed there are more good people in this world, and at this moment, she felt really touched: ”I won’t be soft-hearted. I’ve already lost all hope for this family. Otherwise, when he tried to hit me with the feather duster like before, I wouldn’t have fought back.”

”That’s good, that’s good.”

”You guys should hurry and go back, in case they take their anger out on you.”

The crowd immediately scoffed: ”There are so many of us here, are we afraid of these two scoundrels? They’ve incited public anger; rest assured, we’ll be fine. But you, hurry and pack up, and leave.”

”Thank you.” An Jing said many words of gratitude before entering An Jing’s room to pack some things.

Lin Jiecheng and Wu Meifeng cried and shouted not to let An Jing pack, and even tried to get physical with her again, but An Jing subdued them both. The onlookers were worried at first, ready to step in and help An Jing. They genuinely believed that if An Jing continued to stay in this house, she would sooner or later be worked to death. Her sister even dared to push her down the stairs. But before they could step forward, they saw An Jing had the resolve to fight back against Lin Jiecheng and Wu Meifeng, and everyone immediately applauded.

After packing her things, An Jing went looking for the household registration book and couldn’t find it, so she asked: ”Where’s the household registration book?”

Wu Meifeng immediately said: ”We don’t have it! And even if we did, we wouldn’t give it to you! We won’t let you leave this home. As long as your dad and I are alive, you have to pay to support us every day! Don’t think that just because you’re not living here anymore, you’re off the hook. Dream on!”

Lin Jiecheng also said: ”You ungrateful girl, go on, leave, go wherever you want, but I’m still your old man, and you have to support me! If you dare not to, I’ll sue you in court!”

These two have the nerve to ask for support money?

Hearing this, the crowd became furious and said: ”An Jing, it’s not a problem to get your own house registration without the book. If they sue you, we neighbors can testify for you. We’ll charge them with domestic violence and let them rot in jail. Let’s see how they claim support money then!”

An Jing didn’t mention she needed the household registration book for marriage. Since Wu Meifeng and Lin Jiecheng refused to give it even at the cost of their lives, she let it go. She just thanked the neighbors several times and said: ”If that day ever comes, I’ll have to trouble you to go to court, sorry for the inconvenience.”

The neighbors said: ”They are a blight on society. Our testimony is a way to uphold justice. It’s what we should do.”

An Jing thanked them again and then left.

The neighbors, worried that Wu Meifeng and Lin Jiecheng might harass An Jing, only returned home after escorting An Jing out of the neighborhood.

An Jing looked back, seeing the neighbors turning back to their homes, and her eyes suddenly welled up with tears.
