Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2114: Chapter 2115: Adapting to Modern Life (10)

Everyone was waiting at the door, so Ning Zihan simply let An Baobei into his room.

Some cellphone functions were quite incomprehensible to the ancient An Baobei, so Ning Zihan didn’t teach her those. Instead, he taught An Baobei how to make calls and perform simple operations like video, voice calls, etc.

”Then from now on, I can call you anytime!” An Baobei hugged the phone, extremely happy.

Ning Zihan said, ”Try not to call me. I’m very busy at work.”

”Then I’ll try not to call you during your work hours.”

Ning Zihan reluctantly accepted this. Actually, he didn’t need to get her a phone at all, but when passing by a mobile phone store, he still asked Liang Youxu to stop the car and bought her a phone.

After dinner, An Baobei played with the phone for a while before finding Ning Zihan to help her understand everything about this place.

Initially, Ning Zihan patiently explained what kind of place this was, but later, lost patience and simply brought over a laptop to search online, letting An Baobei find out for herself.

An Baobei couldn’t type and relied on voice search. And because An couldn’t read simplified Chinese, Ning Zihan also used traditional character software to convert simplified characters to traditional, allowing An Baobei to read.

Finding this troublesome as well, Ning Zihan asked the housekeeper to get a dictionary matching traditional with simplified characters for An Baobei to recognize.

As long as An Baobei could fully recognize simplified characters, she could independently use the phone and computer to explore this world, completely without his help.

But An Baobei wasn’t in a hurry to recognize these simplified characters; right now, she was eager to understand the world she was currently staying in.

It took three days, using phones, computers, and televisions, for An Baobei to have a general understanding of this world.

Having gained this basic understanding, An Baobei wanted to go out and see for herself, so she ran to the study and said to Ning Zihan, who was home from work today, ”Ning Zihan, I want to go out and have a look, will you take me?”

During these three days, Liang Youxu checked every mental hospital in the country and none had a mental patient named An Baobei, and he had reported this to Ning Zihan.

Ning Zihan didn’t seem to react much. He didn’t report it to the police and continued letting An Baobei stay.

Liang Youxu still thought they should report it to the police and send An Baobei away. After all, An Baobei was a mental patient and had impressive skills, even carrying a sharp weapon. He truly believed An Baobei was dangerous, but recalling how Ning Zihan told him to leave and eat by himself when he previously mentioned reporting it, he, although still thinking it was necessary, decided not to bring it up with Ning Zihan again.

It was Saturday, and Ning Zihan wasn’t bothered to go anywhere, just practicing calligraphy in the study. When An Baobei suddenly burst in wanting him to take her out, he didn’t even look at her before calmly saying, ”As long as you don’t carry the sword with you, I’ll take you wherever you want.”

Her movements were dangerous, but not as dangerous as the sword in her hands. The sword was truly sharp; just yesterday, as she practiced swordplay, a casual swing cut through a fairly thick branch in the courtyard.

”Sure!” An Baobei agreed readily. ”I’ll leave it in the room, but you can’t let anyone take it away.”

”OK.” Ning Zihan had no objections. After a pause, he added, ”I haven’t finished writing this piece yet. Let’s go tomorrow. I don’t work tomorrow, so I’ll take you out for a proper tour then.”
