Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2107: Chapter 2108: Adjusting to Modern Life (Part 3)

An Baobei continued, ”I won’t let you shelter me for free. This Jade Pendant is for you, as a token of gratitude for taking me in. Don’t underestimate this Jade Pendant, it’s an exceptional treasure, invaluable, and I got it from my second brother.”

Ning Zihan looked at the white jade held up in front of him. It was neither too big nor too small, and An Baobei had it hanging on her waist earlier. Initially, he thought it was a fake but, seeing it up close now, he realized its color and texture were rarely seen in this world; it was indeed very valuable.

However, he wasn’t short of money.

”I can take you in, but there’s no need to give me this jade.”

”How can that be! I can’t just eat and stay here for free! Besides, you still have to teach me everything about this place, so consider it a tuition fee.”

”...It’s not me teaching, I’ll have someone else teach you.”

An Baobei shook her head immediately, ”I don’t want anyone else to teach me, I want you to do it. What if others with bad intentions capture me for research? I’m only comfortable with you teaching me!”

Ning Zihan felt a bit of a headache coming on. Before he could speak, An Baobei forced the jade into his hand.

”Keep it safe, don’t lose it. When I find my parents and get some taels, I’ll redeem it from you.”

Ning Zihan paused for a moment before saying, ”We have taels here, but taels aren’t used to buy things. The money here is...” As he spoke, Ning Zihan walked over to the bed, picked up his wallet which he had earlier thrown on the bed, and took out a banknote to show An Baobei, ”We use this here.”

An Baobei took the banknote, examined it carefully, and then smiled, ”Money is money! What I mean is that when I have money in the future, I’ll redeem it from you, so make sure you keep it safe!”

Ning Zihan really didn’t want this hassle. He didn’t want the jade at all. Even if he sheltered and fed her, it wouldn’t cost much. Moreover, he had plenty of money, even if she spent a lot, he wouldn’t run out.

But considering how persistent An Baobei was, if he upset her, this mentally unstable girl might draw her longsword and go on a rampage, which would be very troublesome. So, he accepted the jade and casually placed it in a drawer on the bedside table.

However, in his heart, he was really curious, where did a mentally unstable person get such a valuable item?

It was evident that he didn’t believe An Baobei’s claim about getting it from her second brother. He didn’t believe a word from someone mentally unstable.

Seeing Ning Zihan place the Jade Pendant in the drawer, An Baobei smiled and asked, ”So where do I stay?”

Ning Zihan dialed the internal line, and soon, the housekeeper came over.

As soon as the housekeeper arrived, Ning Zihan instructed, ”Take Miss An to the guest room at the far end on the second floor.”

Immediately, An Baobei asked with confusion, ”Why do I have to stay so far away from you? Can’t I stay next to you?”

While saying this, An Baobei unconsciously fiddled with the sword in her hand.

Housekeeper: ”...” This is definitely a threat! A blatant threat!

Ning Zihan paused for a moment before changing his tune, ”If you want to stay next to me, then stay next to me.”

”Does that mean I can come to you anytime if I need something?” An Baobei asked excitedly. Too excited, she even drew out her longsword. The blade was sharp, and its cold light was chilling.

”...Mm.”

Housekeeper: ”...” Young master, my condolences.

Seeing Ning Zihan agree, An Baobei happily swung her sword a couple of times, startling the housekeeper, who stepped back repeatedly for fear of being hurt by the sword.

Ning Zihan had no expression on his face, but his eyes were full of coldness. The way she was, it seemed necessary to send her back to the mental hospital as soon as possible.
