Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2129: Chapter 2130: We’re Not Afraid (Part 1)

Su Chengyu exaggeratedly looked up to the sky and sighed, ”I never expected that a trip to the hospital would give me an additional sister-in-law. Now I won’t have to team up with Dad every day to urge my brother to get married. That’s just great!”

Su Chengyu and Su Haoyu chatted with An Jing in the hospital room for quite a while before leaving. Seeing Su Chengyu and the others leave, Lu Yimi quickly followed suit.

Once Su Changyi closed the door to the hospital room, An Jing smiled and remarked, ”Father and Chengyu are really so kind, just like before.”

Su Changyi replied flatly, ”Kind, yes, but there’s still quite a difference. In the past, they had to put on an act in front of others, but with us, they never did. Now, they don’t bother pretending, whether in front of others or with us.”

”They used to carry too many burdens. Now, things are pretty good,” An Jing said sincerely.

Su Changyi nodded, ”It is pretty good.” They’re far happier now compared to before.

...

An Jing stayed in the hospital for another three days, during which Su Haoyu and Su Chengyu often came to visit. They even discussed with her and Su Changyi, making plans that after her discharge, Su Changyi would move back home, naturally bringing her along to live with the Su Family.

From then on, the Su Family was her family.

The night before being discharged, An Jing nestled in Su Changyi’s arms, talking about the original owner’s work at the textile factory.

”Earlier, I didn’t expect to reunite with you so soon, and this identity of mine lacks both academic qualifications and work experience, with only this textile factory job to speak of. It’s difficult to find work, so I only called the textile factory to request a leave of absence without quitting.”

Before An Jing finished, Su Changyi was already displeased, holding her tightly, ”Quit the job. I won’t let you endure such hardship.”

Though both had gone through hard times, it didn’t mean he was willing to let her suffer.

An Jing chuckled, ”I never said I wouldn’t quit, why are you upset?”

”I’m not upset. I just don’t want you to suffer.”

With sweetness in her heart, An Jing looked up, kissed him, and said with a smile, ”The original earnings were considered high wages in that household, working twelve hours a day, exhausting herself for four to five thousand coins a month. But aside from keeping a meager living expense, everything else went to her dad and stepmother. Her dad originally held a job, but due to lack of education, his wage was only a little over a tael; later, seeing the original owner earning so much, he simply quit his job, focusing only on asking her for money on payday. Her stepmother never worked since being with her dad, hardly doing any chores at home, only knowing how to exploit the original owner. Even when she returned home late at night from work, she had to wash the family’s clothes. Her half-sister was also overly harsh, never calling the original owner sister, and would become abusive like her parents whenever displeased. The original owner was so meek she never resisted, never dared to argue back. Her sister also didn’t earn much, working as an office clerk at a somewhat respectable company, potentially earning three thousand coins a month.”

Continuing, An Jing gave a cold laugh, ”If I stop giving them money every month, they’ll certainly come after me, don’t you think?”

Su Changyi said, ”I believe it, but we have nothing to fear.”

It’s not just you who doesn’t fear, we don’t fear.

Listening to this warmed An Jing’s heart so much, she nodded vigorously, ”Yes! We don’t fear! The original owner was too weak to fight back, but I am not her! Want me to be exploited and abused like her, with added domestic violence? Dream on!”
