Chapter 1750: Chapter 1751: If That’s Really the Case, That’s Not So Bad

”Mm.” An Jing nodded in agreement. ”We should have a proper talk with him. If Star goes with him, we’ll have to rely on him and Ye Zhi. Even though they will take good care of Star, we still need to make a request. Their kindness to our child is an expression of their feelings towards us, and we can’t just take it for granted without showing any appreciation.”

”Mm.”

...

At night, after coaxing the three beautiful babies to sleep, An Jing and Xiao Changyi left the mansion to find Gong Juechen.

As soon as Gong Juechen opened the door and saw the two of them, he immediately laughed, ”I knew you were back, but I didn’t expect you’d come so quickly.”

As An Jing walked in, she said, ”We can let Star learn medicine from you, but we’re not happy with how you’re calculating against him.”

Gong Juechen closed the courtyard door and walked into the house with An Jing and Xiao Changyi, saying playfully, ”I’m plotting for Star because he’s the most suitable to take over my position.”

Xiao Changyi and An Jing were both taken aback. They knew his intentions weren’t pure, but they didn’t expect he wanted their second son to inherit his position as Building Master.

”Gong Juechen, this is a bit too much.” An Jing was even more displeased. She had no intention of deciding her son’s future, nor did she want others deciding it for him.

Xiao Changyi’s cold eyes also showed displeasure.

Gong Juechen still grinned playfully, ”I don’t know if it’s too much, but I do know that Star has always been my ideal candidate for the future heir of Slayer Tower. However, you don’t have to be angry. I already promised Zhizhi that as long as Star doesn’t agree, I won’t force him to take over as Building Master. If he does, it’ll be his own choice.”

Only then did An Jing and Xiao Changyi feel a bit more at ease.

At just this moment, Ye Zhi, having coaxed Gong Le to sleep, came out and, hearing what Gong Juechen said, smiled at An Jing and Xiao Changyi: ”Boss, brother-in-law, don’t worry, I’ll keep watch over him and won’t let him go too far. If Star goes with us, I’ll take good care of him for you.”

An Jing smiled and said, ”Thank you for your hard work. We’ll leave Star in your care from now on.”

”Why are you being so polite?” Ye Zhi smiled. ”Star is practically half our son.” She paused, ”Star seems to like our Lele a lot. Maybe in the future, we might become in-laws.”

An Jing laughed and said, ”If that’s really the case, that wouldn’t be bad at all.”

”Then it’s settled. If Star and Lele develop feelings for each other and want to be together, you can’t stop them.”

”Why would I stop them? I’d definitely support it wholeheartedly.” After saying this, the smile on An Jing’s face slowly faded, revealing a bit of sadness. ”When he goes with you, who knows when he’ll return.”

Ye Zhi comforted, ”Boss, don’t be like this. Children grow up, and eventually, they leave their parents. When my Lele gets married, I’ll surely feel worse than you do now.”

Gong Juechen immediately leaned closer to Ye Zhi, grinning playfully, ”Why must we marry Lele off? Lele can have a live-in husband instead.”

Ye Zhi was enlightened, ”That seems possible too.”

An Jing couldn’t help but laugh, ”I think you should let things take their natural course. But when my husband married into my family, I was moved for a long time, and even now, thinking about it still touches me.”
