Chapter 1708: Chapter 1709: It’s Not What I Want, It’s What He Wants

Unfortunately, they were still a step too late.

As soon as they left the inn, they were surrounded by Dongfang Tianchong leading the cavalry.

If it weren’t for the help of masked figures, they would have indeed died in this Dongqing Imperial City.

Qin Er respectfully replied when An Jing asked him, ”The Dongqing Imperial City is under heavy lockdown now, making it very hard to get in and out. Someone helped disguise me so I could enter the city. Upon entering, a masked person met me and brought me here, saying that the master and madam are here now.”

An Jing understood, nodded, and asked again, ”Did you manage to deliver the letter to General Qi?”

Qin Er said, ”It’s been delivered. General Qi is already leading the troops to attack Dongqing. However, strangely enough, before General Qi even started the attack, the entire Dongqing forces around Beihe had already been wiped out by someone, allowing General Qi to capture five Dongqing cities without any resistance.”

”Do you know who wiped them out?”

”According to the people of those cities, it was some masked figures, but they don’t know who those masked figures are either.”

”Are the people in those cities unharmed?” The civilians are innocent. She hopes that they are not harmed at all.

”They are unharmed, except the Dongqing forces in those cities have been wiped out.”

An Jing nodded, indicating she understood.

Xiao Changyi, however, hadn’t said a word to Qin Er from start to finish.

It was Qin Er who continued, ”When I delivered the letter to General Qi, General Qi told me that the Emperor had already dispatched General Liu Buli with 300,000 troops to attack Dongqing and they should be joining up with General Qi in the next few days.”

Qi Tengfei has an army of 200,000, and with Liu Buli bringing another 300,000, it seems Su Chengyu already knew that he and his wife were in Dongqing, which is why he took this action.

Xiao Changyi understood in his heart and finally spoke, ”Have the masked person take you out again, and notify Liu Buli and Qi Tengfei to encircle Dongqing from all sides and press on to the Dongqing Imperial City to prevent other nations from trying to intervene.”

”Yes!”

After Qin Er left, An Jing smiled at Xiao Changyi and said, ”Husband, are you planning to take down Dongqing?”

Xiao Changyi corrected her, ”It’s not what I want, it’s what Chengyu wants.” After pausing, he added, ”Or maybe it’s not what Chengyu wants, but rather what Gong Juechen wants, who plans to present Dongqing to Chengyu.”

Pausing again, Xiao Changyi continued, ”Moreover, with Dongfang Tianyang having no heirs and now in trouble, Dongqing will descend into chaos. Instead of letting other nations take advantage, it’s better for our Xiyun to seize it. At least our Monarch of Xiyun is kind-hearted and will treat Dongqing’s people well.”

An Jing nodded, showing agreement.

...

Five days later, Liu Buli and Qi Tengfei converged.

On that day, Liu Buli and Qi Tengfei received Qin Er’s message, which was the royal order, and immediately divided their army to attack Dongqing from all directions.

Liu Buli and Qi Tengfei initially thought it would be a tough battle, but unexpectedly, as they attacked each city, the forces within had already been obliterated by masked figures. They didn’t even need to fight, just take over.

In less than a month, Liu Buli and Qi Tengfei had their forces surrounding the Dongqing Imperial City, encamping around it and completely besieging it.

On this day, November 20th, the weather was very cold, but the chambers were not; they were quite warm.

When the Right Protector saw that Liu Buli and Qi Tengfei’s forces had arrived, he sent someone to notify Master Feng.
