The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1492: Chapter 590: A Short Story_2

He felt a sense of loss, but if his competition was Zhou Wang, he truly couldn’t muster any other thoughts.

He just didn’t expect that after disappearing for several days, Sun Xining finally arrived at work today. The style of the bag was obviously hers, but what surprised Ah Gui was that it was still twenty minutes before normal work time, and she rarely came this early.

Thinking of this, Ah Gui silently praised his own cleverness. Fortunately, when he bought coffee out of habit, he bought an extra cup, planning to give it to any female colleague if he couldn’t finish it, saving him the trouble now.

Ah Gui had just placed his stuff at his seat when he heard footsteps approaching, accompanied by a waft of fragrance. As he looked up, Sun Xining, who had disappeared earlier, was coming back with a form in her hand.

With shoulder-length wavy hair, a green knitted sweater paired with high-waisted straight pants exuding elegance, this fashionable forest-style outfit made her already delicate face appear even more lively with youthful energy, combining a girl’s playfulness with a mature woman’s allure.

Ah Gui stole several glances before coughing lightly to greet her: ”Morning, Ningning!”

”Morning.”

Sun Xining bowed her head, tidying things on the desk, the white nape of her neck bathed in golden light from the morning sun made Ah Gui subconsciously swallow.

He organized his words, then casually took out a coffee from the bag, ”Um... Ningning, I saw that Luckin has a new flavor this morning. I remember you like bayberries, do you want to try this bayberry frappe?”

Sun Xining was slightly stunned, then looked up at Ah Gui and smiled: ”Thank you...”

As Ah Gui inwardly rejoiced, she shook her head and said: ”But you keep it, I have to leave in a while, it’s inconvenient to take it with me.”

”Leave?”

Ah Gui asked in confusion, ”But it’s almost work time, you...”

”I submitted my resignation application a few days ago.”

Sun Xining waved the form in her hand, and Ah Gui then realized it was a resignation application, ”It was only approved yesterday, I’m just here to complete the procedures today... Sorry, I didn’t inform you all. I’ve not been with the company long, mainly didn’t want to trouble everyone.”

Sun Xining is resigning?

Ah Gui’s mind went blank, the news hit him like a bomb leaving him momentarily speechless.

Fortunately, several nearby colleagues heard their conversation, and a female colleague immediately became the spokesperson, surprisingly asking:

”Ah, Ningning, why are you suddenly resigning without a word, where are you going?”

They were an e-commerce company, and with Sun Xining’s excellent appearance and conditions, she was in high demand for development, having only been in the job a few months with a salary already surpassing many people, so these colleagues couldn’t understand why she would resign now.

Even if she wanted to jump jobs, normally she would accumulate a bit more experience first.

”Hong Kong Island.”

Sun Xining smiled and said, ”If all goes well, I will settle there later.”

”Hong Kong Island... settle?”

Hearing this rare term, Ah Gui was bewildered again, with thousands of questions arising simultaneously in his heart.

Hong Kong Island borders Peng City, and with Ah Jie considered half a Hong Kong Island native, Ah Gui knew many things.

For an ordinary person, let alone settling on Hong Kong Island, even just trying to work there was extremely difficult.

Ah Gui understood Sun Xining’s background, a normal family from a small frontier town, apparently incapable of supporting her to settle on Hong Kong Island.

Other colleagues were also filled with various surprises and envy, though nobody thought she was bragging.

After all, such things were basically easy to verify.

”Wow, Ningning, you’re astounding, choosing Hong Kong Island... that’s not a place for ordinary people to find a foothold!”

”No wonder you suddenly got a new bag, it’s Chanel’s black and gold lambskin, right? I remember it costs about sixty thousand!”

”Be honest, did you win the lottery or are you marrying into a wealthy family to become a phoenix?”

The female colleagues’ jokes carried a probing tone, reminding Ah Gui.

Could it be because of...

Once the female colleagues dispersed with laughter, Ah Gui hesitated several times before finally opening his mouth to ask: ”Ningning, is it because of Zhou Wang...”

Hearing Ah Gui mention Zhou Wang, Sun Xining’s brow furrowed slightly, but recalling that Ah Gui had seen Zhou Wang and was generally nice, she decided not to say anything, implicitly acknowledging it.

At that moment, Ah Gui awkwardly said, ”Um, Ningning, don’t misunderstand, I think it’s good... even though I don’t know him well, you two, you two do seem quite compatible...”

Hearing this, Sun Xining relaxed her expression, nodding with a smile at Ah Gui, ”Thank you.”

Now Ah Gui was at a loss for words, watching her gather her things and sling on her bag, he felt a deep sense of blockage inside and couldn’t help but stop her.

”Hmm?”

Sun Xining expressed her puzzlement with her eyes.

”Ningning, I have a few words to say, although you might not listen...”

Ah Gui confessed bravely, ”Um, I think Zhou Wang seems nice, but you still need to be cautious in some areas.”
