The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1470: Chapter 579: Why Are You Pretending in Front of Me?_2

Yeah, a lot of people who come here seem to automatically blend into Hong Kong Island’s unique ”tipping culture,” leaving him tips ranging from 50 to 200 Hong Kong Dollar after paying the bill.

While he’s raking in tips from all these different kinds of people, he’s also judging them in his head.

Who’s pretending to be rich while broke, who actually has some money behind them...

When Su Yajing and the other three girls walked in, he really did have his eyes lit up.

After all, among the four girls, even the relatively most low-key one, Shen Yutong, was carrying an LV flagship handbag, a Capucines series made of pure crocodile leather, with a unit price close to six figures.

Plus their outfits, basically all genuine designer labels, so the waiter arrived at a very firm conclusion.

These four ridiculously good-looking young ladies were all the real-deal rich beauties!

Working in a place like this, of course he had his own ”ambitions” too. What if he suddenly bumped into fate and ended up with a top-tier goddess girlfriend like that?

Unfortunately, just as the waiter’s imagination was running wild, Zhou Wang swaggered in and plopped himself down right in the middle of them.

The waiter noticed that the four girls’ gazes were basically all focused on Zhou Wang.

Zhou Wang had gone out in slippers and obviously hadn’t put much effort into his outfit, but even if he’d dressed more formally, with the waiter’s preconceived notions plus Zhou Wang’s admittedly handsome face, he’d still be written off as a ”kept pretty boy.”

Or, to put it more harshly, he’d get slapped with the label of a ”gigolo.”

He couldn’t directly target Zhou Wang, of course, but he was more than happy to use these subtle little tricks to jab at Zhou Wang’s self-esteem, which was why he’d pulled those moves just now.

”Alright, sir, which vintage would you like? If it’s a regular year, I’d recommend the ’18, ’14 is also good, the best is ’09, it’s just that the price...”

”Why aren’t you asking me whether I want Carruades de Lafite or Château Lafite Rothschild?”

Zhou Wang abruptly cut him off.

”Ah...”

The waiter was instantly at a loss.

”What, you don’t know the difference between those two Lafites, or is it that you don’t understand English?”

Zhou Wang’s eyebrows furrowed deeply.

No, he had absolutely no idea what Zhou Wang was talking about.

Before the waiter could react, Zhou Wang pressed on, ”Didn’t you just recommend a few vintages? Then tell me, which year is a ’Hot Year’? Or say I want something with ’Bright Acidity,’ do you have any recommendations? Failing that, just bring me a bottle with a ’Firm Structure,’ that’s fine too, OK?”

The waiter instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

Zhou Wang had rattled off a bunch of professional terms, and the only word he understood was ”OK”; he had no idea how to respond.

With his half-baked level, the few terms he did know were all just crammed last-minute. He wasn’t a real sommelier; even the vintages were memorized by rote. As for why those years were supposed to be amazing, how would he know?

And the worst part was, he was the one who’d tried to show off in English first, which meant he’d hoisted himself on his own petard. Very uncomfortable.

As the waiter stammered, Zhou Wang sneered, ”Exactly, you don’t know shit, so what are you pretending for... get lost, send someone else over to take our order.”

The waiter’s face turned blue, then white, but he didn’t dare say another word and turned to leave.

Only then did the four girls finally realize what had happened and all started giggling.

”Wow, bro, so that waiter was trying to show off? I knew something felt off the whole time...”

”Swinging a big sword in front of Guan Yu, that’s what this is. When it comes to showing off, the real pro is Big Ba— I mean... Zhou Wang!”

Yu Duo almost slipped up and immediately shot a guilty glance at the other three girls, only to find that no one cared about such details at all, so she quietly let out a breath of relief.

Still, Yu Duo felt a little down. She’d been really looking forward to this trip, but they’d been out for a whole week now; forget some alone time, she felt like she hadn’t even seen Zhou Wang all that much.

They finally managed to go out for a meal today. It went without saying that Zhou Wang would sit next to Su Yajing, but how come the seat on his other side had also been claimed by Cui Min’er...

At this moment, a waitress came over. As expected, her attitude was much more down-to-earth than the previous guy’s. After she finished taking their order, Zhou Wang generously slipped her a 500 Hong Kong Dollar tip.

He had always gone after people, not ”positions,” and he wasn’t about to take his anger at that idiot waiter out on this one.

After all that fuss, the dishes finally started coming out.

Once they started eating, Zhou Wang finally understood why this restaurant was relatively popular with women.

In terms of actual flavor, although the presentation was great and everything looked fancy and over the top, to Zhou Wang it was really... hard to compliment.

Take one lobster dish for example — the meat being a bit overcooked was one thing, but the sauce they paired it with was freaking cocoa sauce...

Yes, cocoa sauce with lobster. This was the ”creative genius” of a world-renowned chef, and the bizarre taste nearly made Zhou Wang spit it back out.

There was also a smoked duck dish that looked amazing, but still tasted bland — again, a problem with the seasoning.

But the restaurant’s sense of ”atmosphere” was absolutely top-tier, which brings us back to why it’s so popular with women...

It’s just too easy to get good photos.

The Victoria Harbour night view outside the window, the exquisite plating, plus all the carefully designed little details throughout the restaurant — it all works together to help you take the most gorgeous pictures.

For example, before they serve the smoked duck, the waiter will first bring out the whole plate and give you plenty of time to find the right angle. Then he’ll slowly lift the lid so guests can perfectly capture the moment the smoke billows out — extremely cooperative.

And the dessert at the end is specially presented in a mirrored box, with a gorgeous, delicate design that lets you take selfies while shooting the food — seriously scheming...

On top of that, based on past experience, the staff will proactively point you to the most photogenic spots in the entire restaurant for taking pictures.

Yeah, Michelin three stars in name, ”Instagrammable check-in spot” in reality.

That was Zhou Wang’s overall impression.

The only thing Zhou Wang actually thought tasted good was the complimentary ”bread basket” at the beginning. It really was delicious; he basically filled himself halfway up on that alone...

As for the later appetizers and mains, he left a lot of them barely touched on the table. Wasteful, sure, but better than wronging his taste buds.

Once they were more or less done eating, the four girls entered their ”photo time,” while Zhou Wang sat by himself sipping a rosé.

It wasn’t some big luxury label, just an English brand Zhou Wang didn’t recognize, going for about two or three thousand.

Since that waiter had already killed his mood, Zhou Wang wasn’t about to actually crack open an aged Lafite just to show off. No need.

While Zhou Wang was playing on his phone and waiting for the girls, a disdainful voice suddenly came from nearby.

He couldn’t understand the words, but that rattling, chattering tone was very familiar. He looked up and saw a young man and woman passing by, stopped in the aisle right next to him, pointing at him with faces full of contempt and saying something.

Zhou Wang recognized them — weren’t they the same young couple from the restaurant entrance earlier?

”와,저사람잘생겼다...”

It was also at this moment that Zhou Wang finally heard clearly that they were speaking Korea’s language.

No wonder he’d thought that girl looked pretty but somehow just a bit unnatural — if she was produced in Korea, that explained everything.

Back when he first used the Magic Dictionary, Zhou Wang had obtained mastery of the world’s mainstream languages, but Korean wasn’t on that list, and he’d been too lazy to study it, so he couldn’t understand what they were saying. Still, he could more or less guess it wasn’t anything nice.

Because their expressions said it all.

”Lina?”

And right then, Cui Min’er, who had just finished taking photos, looked up and saw the young couple. Her face immediately showed a shocked expression.

Zhou Wang was surprised as well. Cui Min’er seemed to... know them?
