The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1468: Chapter 578: Caprice_2

So she picked up her briefcase and was about to leave.

”What happened to you, where are you going?”

Qi Jiayi wanted to retort Zhou Wang with ”Are you pretending?”, but she held back.

It’s also because she has been avoiding Zhou Wang deliberately in the past two months, he hasn’t had the chance to bother her for a while, and with everything that’s been happening recently, Qi Jiayi had let down her guard and actually forgot that today was the end of the month.

She hoped Zhou Wang had already forgotten about it, and of course wouldn’t remind him intentionally at this time.

So she just forced a stiff smile, ”I suddenly remembered I have something to take care of. Um, Mr. Zhou, I’ve noted down everything you said, we’ll chat later... I’ll be leaving now.”

”Is it that urgent? Are you coming back for dinner? I booked a really good restaurant...”

”No need, you can dine with your girlfriends.”

Feeling very annoyed, Qi Jiayi couldn’t resist snapping back at Zhou Wang before hurriedly walking towards the suite door without looking back.

This time Zhou Wang didn’t stop her, he just thoughtfully watched her back.

Zhou Wang... of course he was doing it on purpose.

Someone with such a good memory, how could he not realize today is Qi Jiayi’s ”big day”?

He was deliberately stalling her, trying to catch Qi Jiayi off guard.

As for what to do next, Zhou Wang hadn’t completely figured it out, mainly feeling that lately he’s been a bit distant from Qi Jiayi, it’s time to do something...

But no rush.

It’s still afternoon now, at least wait till it’s completely dark.

Before that, though, Zhou Wang first made a call to Qi Jiayi’s assistant, Sura.

...

After settling in the hotel room, it was almost dinner time.

Zhou Wang had already received an official invitation from the Huo Family, but today was just his first day on Hong Kong Island, even if they sent a formal invite, Zhou Wang definitely wouldn’t go.

It’s not ”putting on airs,” ”declining” is actually part of Huaxia’s traditional etiquette; it’s your first day here, if you go immediately after being invited, it can seem frivolous and hasty, and the hosts might not be thoroughly prepared.

Of course, this only applies to the first meeting. If both parties are already familiar, it doesn’t matter.

Reflecting on the memories of Zhou Wang, he surely hadn’t met Huo Yingxiong before, but even if they had met, Zhou Wang instinctively knew it wouldn’t be a close relationship.

With ”his” aloof personality, it’s impossible to get chummy with anyone.

So declining the invitation once won’t appear rude; he can accept the next time the Huo Family extends an invite.

For dinner, Zhou Wang went with Su Yajing and three other girls.

Thinking about it makes him a bit awkward; they agreed to travel together, but during the week in Peng City, Zhou Wang often went missing, leaving most of the fun to the four girls.

Zhou Wang felt particularly guilty towards Shen Yutong, since he took her First Blood and then kept ”neglecting” her.

Although for practical reasons, Zhou Wang wasn’t too comfortable spending alone time with her... even if Su Yajing knew, there’s still the naïve yet bright-eyed Yu Duo.

Therefore, Zhou Wang planned to take the opportunity today to spend quality time with the four girls, take them for a lavish dinner, and then to Harbour City, the most extravagant shopping plaza on Hong Kong Island, dubbed the ”shopping aircraft carrier,” for a good shopping spree.

And perhaps pick up some daily necessities for himself...

Regarding dinner choices, in a place like Hong Kong Island, whether you’re aiming high or low, the options are countless.

If it were up to Zhou Wang, he’d probably choose Chinese food, as he always felt the Chinese cuisine with thousands of years of heritage is the best.

However, today it was about catering to the girls’ preferences, so after handing the decision to Su Yajing, unsurprisingly, after some discussion among the four girls, they finally picked a Western restaurant.

Why Western restaurants tend to be more favored by girls, the taste is secondary; it’s mainly about the atmosphere and the plating, naturally more photogenic.

In their minds, if I’m spending so much money on such an expensive restaurant, if I can’t take a few beautiful photos to flaunt on social media, then what’s the point of spending that money?

Besides, most Chinese restaurants have an inherent disadvantage in this aspect, and there’s nothing one can really do about it.

”C... Caprice!”

With the help of the butler who booked the restaurant seats, the group drove to the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong Island, then took the elevator to the sixth floor, and when they saw the restaurant’s sign, it was the English-proficient Cui Min’er who pronounced its name.

This French restaurant is very famous, no, rather exceptionally famous.

Because it was one of the first restaurants in Hong Kong Island to receive a three-star Michelin rating, although apparently in recent years, it has dropped to two stars.

Zhou Wang didn’t care much about these things, just listened to a brief introduction and moved on.

After confirming the reservation at the front desk, Su Yajing and the other girls laughed and walked in first, leaving Zhou Wang behind to smoke a cigarette. When he extinguished the cigarette and tried to go in, he was stopped by a server.

”Sir, sorry... we have a dress code, no sloppy attire.”

Huh?

Zhou Wang hesitated for a second, with a classic movie scene flashing in his mind.

”What counts as proper attire?”

Zhou Wang asked instinctively.

Luckily, the server didn’t say ”at least wear a tie”, instead his eyes showed concern as he glanced at Zhou Wang’s footwear.

To be precise, Zhou Wang wasn’t wearing shoes, but a pair of slippers.

The large Hermes logo was printed on the front, the design was simple, but these seemingly plain slippers were worth five figures, and they were a limited edition collaboration almost impossible to find in the market.

However, the server obviously wouldn’t care how much Zhou Wang’s slippers were worth, because fundamentally they were still slippers, which didn’t conform with the restaurant’s dress code.

Zhou Wang hadn’t said anything yet when he suddenly heard a burst of snickering nearby.

Zhou Wang raised an eyebrow to see a stylishly dressed young couple; although Zhou Wang couldn’t make out what they were murmuring, he definitely noticed the disdain and ridicule on their faces, along with a sense of inexplicable superiority.

After casting a scornful glance at Zhou Wang they walked into the restaurant, leaving Zhou Wang somewhat displeased.

However, since Zhou Wang hadn’t understood their mutterings, it wasn’t appropriate to react on the spot, so he merely watched their back, remembering their appearance.

Then, Lai Yuanbao, waiting in the restaurant’s lobby, seemed to notice something wrong and came over with a subordinate to inquire about Zhou Wang’s situation.

Zhou Wang’s attire was casual, but Lai Yuanbao and his buddy were dressed in suits, flaunting the vibe of a fierce bodyguard, which suddenly made the server somewhat uneasy.

Upon understanding the situation, Lai Yuanbao glanced at the server and then laughingly said to Zhou Wang:

”Mr. Zhou, please go ahead, I’ll handle it.”

Zhou Wang nodded, didn’t ask how they would handle it, that was Lai Yuanbao’s purpose for accompanying him.

Does Zhou Wang need him for protection?

Lai Yuanbao had firsthand witnessed his bodyguard’s combat skills on the yacht, and knew his limits.

Lai Yuanbao’s presence was timely since someone of Zhou Wang’s status couldn’t afford to hassle a mere restaurant server, it would be beneath him...

So patting Lai Yuanbao on the shoulder, Zhou Wang walked into the restaurant, the server beside him hesitated but didn’t dare to speak under Lai Yuanbao’s watchful gaze, allowing Zhou Wang to go ahead.

After Zhou Wang vanished around the corner, Lai Yuanbao didn’t bother the uneasy server, instead he asked his buddy:

”Four Seasons Hotel... I remember it’s part of the Feng Family’s holdings, right?”

His buddy had already quickly searched on his phone, then showed the information to Lai Yuanbao.

”Yes, Brother Bao, this building is owned by the New World Group, which is under the Feng Family.”

”That makes it easy, I’ll directly contact the Feng Family.”

Lai Yuanbao nodded, then pulled out his phone and made a call.

The adjacent server was bewildered, contact the Feng Family directly?

Just because of slippers?

You gotta be kidding!

Even when bragging, you need some logic...

The server suddenly felt calmer.
