The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1469: Chapter 579: Who Are You Pretending For?

Since they weren’t delayed for too long, the four girls didn’t sense anything unusual. When Zhou Wang found them, Su Yajing giggled and handed over the menu—oh wait, in a place this advanced it’s supposed to be called the ”MENU”.

It was said to be a Michelin three-star advanced restaurant, but when Zhou Wang took the menu, he couldn’t help but grimace.

”Damn it, another one of those rip-off menus...”

Of course, Zhou Wang had his reasons for the complaint.

Because the Caprice Restaurant doesn’t allow choosing dishes, instead it offers two different SETs for you to choose from: one regular-priced at 2980 Hong Kong Dollar, and the other, a seafood menu priced at 3988 Hong Kong Dollar.

Of course, this price is ”per person” and doesn’t include drinks. Additionally, the bottom of the menu clearly states that there’s an extra 10% service charge.

Most Western restaurants with any grade are like this, and this is relatively better. Although you can’t choose dishes, by glancing at the menu, at least you know what you’re eating. Some Western restaurants are even more outrageous, offering no choice at all—they serve whatever they make, just like opening a blind box where you never know what the next dish is...

And these Western restaurants are generally the most expensive among them. The world’s top-ranked Western restaurant is reportedly this way too.

In Zhou Wang’s view, isn’t this just like ”depending on my mood today”—if I’m too lazy to shop for ingredients, then I’ll randomly make something to serve you, simple and convenient...

It’s completely a rip-off mode.

Yet there are people who eat this up, as if that’s what high-end means.

Someone might say that many Chinese private kitchens are like this too, but at least with Chinese cuisine, you can roughly see the cost of the dishes served. Western cuisine is entirely different; even a dressed salad can be sold at a sky-high price.

”We’ve already come, let’s eat the expensive one, the 3988 set, five portions, please... Also, let’s open a bottle of wine.”

Zhou Wang casually said to the waiter taking the order.

”Sir, what wine would you like? As your accompaniment choice, we offer a wide selection of wines that are highly praised and recognized, including wines, sparkling wines, cocktails, and spirits...”

”Let’s have wine. Any recommendations?”

Upon hearing Zhou Wang’s inquiry, the waiter smiled and glanced at Zhou Wang, then slowly said:

”We have Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Lafite for red wine. If you prefer white wine, we have Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, and there’s also a refreshing rosé...”

Zhou Wang finally frowned at this moment.

He glanced at the waiter, who was still chatting.

On the surface, the waiter’s attitude seemed fine, but as a newly-minted ”master of psychology,” Zhou Wang immediately caught the subtle arrogance hidden in his eyes and at the corners of his mouth, possibly even a hint of disdain?

Even if Zhou Wang couldn’t see these, he could still sense something from the waiter’s behavior.

First, when he brought the menu, he initially used Cantonese to communicate with Zhou Wang and the others. It was only upon Zhou Wang’s request that he reluctantly switched to Mandarin.

Yet damn, from Zhou Wang’s judgment, it seemed like the waiter wasn’t even a pure local from Hong Kong Island; in fact, he spoke Mandarin more fluently.

Additionally, when recommending wines, he used English terminology for each brand.

For instance, everyone knows the famous Lafite, but he insisted on saying ”Lafite,” and the well-known white wine Riesling, he purposely said ”Riesling”—what was he trying to create?

Zhou Wang, knowing a bit about wine, could understand, but seeing the four girls next to him looking completely puzzled, he knew they didn’t understand what the waiter was talking about, nor what brand of wine those English words referred to.

Zhou Wang didn’t believe this waiter introduced every table’s wine like this, how many people could figure it out?

Bear in mind that apart from a few genuine Western cuisine lovers who can’t find a more suitable place to dine—the so-called ”elite”, most are here to check in or just pure posers.

Can you expect these people to have much research on wine?

So Zhou Wang became even more annoyed.

He couldn’t understand how just coming out for a simple ”fast food” meal, these annoying things kept happening.

Yes, in Zhou Wang’s eyes, a few thousand for Western food was really no different from ”fast food”; any refined Chinese meal he had would cost far more than this.

He was too lazy to investigate why the waiter was putting on this act.

He just couldn’t comprehend...

Damn, you’re just a mere waiter, what makes you so arrogant?

Although the usher at the door caused some trouble for Zhou Wang, at least there was a restaurant policy excuse, hard to say it was intentional...

But this idiot waiter, in Zhou Wang’s view, was simply finding trouble for the sake of it.

So Zhou Wang let out a cold laugh and said, ”I’ll drink Lafite.”

Upon hearing Zhou Wang choosing ”Lafite”, a hint of disdain flashed in the waiter’s eyes, indeed, that’s all you can understand, right?

He simply disliked Zhou Wang.

After staying in such a place for a long time, even as just a waiter, having seen all sorts of polite, constantly graceful ”upper-class folks”, his own mindset had subtly changed.

He didn’t need any extra effort, just the accumulated tips each month would be close to ten thousand Hong Kong Dollar...
