Pillar of Yita

”I advise you not to do that, unless you want those Arcanists to swarm in within minutes.”

This voice was incredibly ancient, as if it belonged to someone who had experienced everything in the world, speaking with a gaze that seemed to see through everything, directed at this direction, uttering these words to them.

Fang Hong heard the voice, and couldn’t help but be taken aback:

”Who?”

The raspy voice coughed heavily twice, then replied: ”Be careful, young man, even a trace of magic power leaking out would attract those hyenas.”

”Hyenas?”

”Heh.” The voice gave a low laugh and fell silent.

Fang Hong’s hand involuntarily stopped moving, although he was unsure if the person was genuine, it seemed he was also imprisoned here, so likely he wouldn’t collude with the Arcanists of the ’Eye of Revelation.’

He realized at this point that the eerie and terrifying voice from earlier might have been made by this person — which filled his heart with suspicions: Who is this person? Why is he imprisoned here? And why did he suddenly make such a sound earlier? Was it because he had fallen into a serious illness?

He put down his hand from the Magic Guided Reactor, looked towards the direction and asked: ”Could you tell me why? Perhaps I could find a way to help you escape this place.”

Silence enveloped the darkness.

After a long time, just when Fang Hong was losing patience, a faint voice came from there: ”Actually, isn’t it nice to be confined here? Young man, listen to the sounds outside, the dust storms above the Sand Sea will destroy everything, even bury civilizations. And it’s just the tip of the iceberg of this world’s strength, everything will eventually be destroyed, maybe staying here could allow one to witness the final face of this world...”

”It’s quite safe here.”

Fang Hong listened to this nonsense, doubting whether this person’s mind was addled from being confined.

But it also made him curious about how long the person had been imprisoned: ”How long have you been here?”

”Not quite sure.”

”For the first three years, I would count the days incessantly and carve each day on the walls. But during the next three years, I gradually lost patience, and after that, I slowly forgot time, not knowing how long it’s been now.”

Fang Hong was slightly stunned, according to the person, he had been confined here for at least six years. He couldn’t help but question the identity of the person, why would the Arcanists keep someone locked up here for so long?

Suddenly, the person paused and spoke: ”Perhaps you can tell me about the changes outside, and I might be able to discern how long it’s been.”

”For instance, the Battle of Bain should be over by now, right?”

Fang Hong heard this, and momentarily stood still.

The meaning of the words implied the person was imprisoned since the time of the Battle of Bain?

Wouldn’t that be more than a decade ago?

Once this thought emerged, it stirred a storm in his heart, although Colin Ishurian wasn’t without long-term imprisonment—in fact, the kingdom’s criminal code was harsh, retaining some features of bygone times, where hanging could be whimsically enforced; only a few were confined in dungeons for over a decade, as the dungeons of this era were perilous places where most perished due to disease and infection fairly quickly.

And this person reminded Fang Hong of Eve.
