Pillar of Yita

The voice emerging from the darkness made Fang Hong stop and look in that direction — amidst the deep and silent abyss were two rows of dungeons side by side, but the dark vision ability granted by the Dragon King’s Heart had yet to recover to the level it was at in Idus, making it impossible for him to see whether there were people locked inside the opposite prison — had only he been captured, or were there others here as well? Had Wu Xiaopang and the others escaped?

Aside from the sound of the door opening, the dungeon was eerily quiet. Yet he couldn’t discern whether it was because others were still in a coma and hadn’t woken up. To the right side of the dungeon, a stairway led upward, and Fang Hong saw a door open and a short shadow descend from there.

If not for the robe on the figure and its cautious steps, he would have almost mistaken it for a Papalarian. The short shadow came down the stairs, headed directly to the door of his cell, and held a wooden tray in its small hands, upon which sat a piece of dark bread, a wooden cup, and a wooden plate.

The shadow paused for a moment in front of Fang Hong’s cell, then knelt halfway down and placed the tray, bread, and cup of water before him, slowly collected the empty tray, and prepared to leave. But Fang Hong watched the short figure in the dark, becoming increasingly familiar.

”We’ve met before, haven’t we?”

The shadow flinched slightly, gazing in this direction from beneath its hood with a startled expression.

But after a while, it gently nodded.

Fang Hong found it interesting that the other did not deny this fact.

”I would like to ask, why have you brought me here? What secret does an Arcanist have?”

The shadow hesitated, shaking its head lightly, but soon seemed to realize it shouldn’t speak so much and stepped back hastily, turning quickly and walking away.

But Fang Hong called out once more: ”Wait, on the day of the attack at Sand Lodge, we certainly met, one of my teammates bumped into you, and I remember your appearance.”

The shadow stopped as if struck by an Immobility Spell.

She turned around, hesitated, and then slowly removed the hood, revealing a small face frowning, precisely the young Arcanist girl Fang Hong had seen that day. She looked at him with some fear, hesitated to speak: ”Sorry, Mr. Ade, they are just temporarily keeping you here; they won’t do anything to you...”

Her voice was almost ghost-like, ethereal and faint.

And as she spoke, her voice became softer; she lowered her head.

Fang Hong had never seen such a shy girl before, even Gita seemed more composed than her.

However, her shyness actually made him calm down, he gently shook his handcuffs, which jingled, and asked:

”So you know me?”

”I, I saw you from afar at the Tansnier Crafting Association,” the girl replied hesitantly, ”also, also saw your videos online, I’m sorry...”

Fang Hong was surprised: ”Sorry for what?”

”...Sorry, they made me do it.”

”They made you—?”

The girl shook her head vigorously but said no more.

But Fang Hong suddenly remembered something, and asked: ”Didn’t we meet not long ago?” They were both startled then, she even took a solid punch from him, and got pushed to the ground, not a pleasant memory.

This made him feel a bit embarrassed, but since they were adversaries then, even if he could go back, he would still do the same, regardless of whether she was a girl. And he understood the implication of her words, the last appearing Arcanist should have been drawn by her.

So is this considered even?

”Are you an Invoker?” Fang Hong recalled what she mentioned before, although natives could connect to the community via the Dragon Knight System, as long as there’s a Glow Material communication device, yet this girl evidently wasn’t a Dragon Knight.

But Fang Hong hadn’t expected this.

The girl gently shook her head.

”Wait, are you a native?”

”Mm—”

Fang Hong was puzzled, momentarily forgetting his predicament, and couldn’t help but ask: ”Then how can you connect to the community?”

The girl quietly replied: ”I have a Glow Material communication device, it’s a gift from Lord Ebene.”

”Lord Ebene?” Fang Hong reacted quickly, immediately realizing who this name belonged to: ”Is he a Hall Defender?”

The girl nodded again.

Fang Hong was silent for a moment, probably understanding that this so-called Lord Ebene was the culprit who sent him to this place.

He added: ”But Glow Material isn’t the key...”

The girl blinked, confused, and looked at him.

She thought for a while, seemingly understanding: ”I, I supposedly can see things you can see, Lord Ebene said it’s a talent, through that Glow Material communication device, I can connect with you... Unfortunately, not anymore.”

Her tone dropped again.

”Due to the storm impact?”

The girl nodded: ”Most likely.”

But inside Fang Hong, a storm surged, completely understanding the implication behind her words, the so-called ’I supposedly can see things you can see’ meant the system, generally unseen by natives. Typically, only when they become Dragon Knights do they possess the corresponding ability.
