Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Perfect Breathing Technique, The Foundation of the Second Son Brotherhood

What?

Upon hearing Sandru’s words, both Roy and Catherine looked surprised.

”Then why did you tell me I had to use my real identity to join the organization?”

Catherine immediately frowned, glaring at Sandru with displeasure.

Before joining the Second Son Brotherhood, she had also considered concealing her true identity.

However, Sandru had told her that he needed to know who she really was before she could join.

Sandru rubbed his nose awkwardly and said slowly, ”Well... I was mainly a little curious about who you were, so I deliberately tricked you.”

”There aren’t many Peak Knights in Yorkshire, and you are the only female Peak Knight in the county.”

”I originally wanted to ask your recommender, but that guy is tight-lipped and refused to reveal your true identity.”

”To satisfy my own curiosity, I fabricated the requirement that you must join using your real identity.”

After Sandru finished speaking, Catherine’s already rosy, oval face flushed an even deeper red with anger, her chest heaving.

If she weren’t sure she couldn’t beat Sandru, she really would have taught him a lesson right then and there.

Just as Catherine was about to say something more, Roy’s voice cut in.

”Is Sandru your real name?”

”The last time you commissioned me, you said your name was Richard,” Roy said to Sandru.

”Sandru and Richard are both my real names. Or rather, Richard is my middle name,” Sandru replied swiftly, without any hesitation.

After thinking for a few seconds, Roy continued, ”Does joining the Second Son Brotherhood require completing a specific initiation test?”

”No!”

”To be precise, not for you!”

”The initiation test is mainly to assess whether an applicant meets the membership criteria.”

”Your combat record is more than enough to prove your strength, so there’s no need to waste everyone’s time,” Sandru said slowly, waving his hand.

”In that case, I’ll apply to join the Second Son Brotherhood as the Dark Night Knight,” Roy continued.

Sandru nodded, stood up, and said, ”Come with me.”

Roy and Catherine stood up at the same time and followed Sandru out of the room.

Soon, they arrived at Sandru’s office.

”Sit wherever you like!” Sandru said, gesturing to the chairs in front of his desk.

Roy and Catherine said nothing and sat down directly.

As they watched, Sandru went to the bookshelf, opened a hidden compartment behind it, and took out a Scroll and a parchment contract.

After retrieving the Scroll and the contract, he sat down in the high-backed chair behind his desk, handed the rolled-up parchment to Roy, and continued speaking:

”Sign your name on the contract... no, sign the name ’Dark Night Knight,’ and you’ll be an official member of the Second Son Brotherhood.”

Roy took the parchment, unrolled it, and quickly scanned its contents.

There wasn’t much written on the parchment, only a few sentences.

To put it simply, they were the rules one must abide by after joining the Second Son Brotherhood.

For example, one must not betray the organization, reveal its existence to outsiders, or refuse to defend it when needed.

Roy quickly finished reading the contract. He picked up the Feather Pen from the desk, dipped it in the Ink Bottle, and signed the name ’Dark Night Knight’ on the signature line.

Having done this, he handed the contract back to Sandru and said slowly, ”The Second Son Brotherhood must be very confident. This thing isn’t exactly binding.”

Sandru took the contract and replied calmly, ”Only a Wizard could create a contract that becomes magically binding the moment it’s signed, and the organization hasn’t recruited any Wizards yet.”

”As for its binding power...”

”If the organization lacked the strength to deal with traitors, then there would be no point in it existing at all.”

After glancing at the signature on the parchment contract and confirming there were no issues, Sandru set it aside. He handed the Scroll to Roy and continued,

”Every new member receives an initiation reward of 100 Contribution Points.”

”This Scroll lists the items you can exchange for Contribution Points.”

”Whether it’s a Breathing Technique Inheritance Map, a Secret Medicine for a Breathing Technique, or even Secret Techniques and Weapons and Equipment, you can exchange Contribution Points for them.”

Without any hesitation, Roy immediately opened the Scroll and began to read.

At the very beginning of the Scroll was a long list of Breathing Techniques.

Night Owl Breathing Technique, Earth Dragon Breathing Technique, Tree Spirit Breathing Technique, Petrification Lizard Breath Technique, Two-headed Dog Breathing Technique, Griffin Breathing Technique...

Roy had assumed that only Excellent Level Universal Breathing Techniques would be available for exchange.

As it turned out, he had underestimated the resources of the Second Son Brotherhood.

In addition to the Excellent Level Universal Breathing Techniques, there were also four Perfect Level Universal Breathing Techniques available for exchange.

Harpies Breathing Technique, Rock Giant Breathing Technique, Nightmare Beast Breathing Technique, and Red Dragon Breathing Technique!

The moment he saw the Red Dragon Breathing Technique, a look of astonishment appeared on Roy’s face.

The Red Dragon Breathing Technique!

The same Red Dragon Breathing Technique that the Legendary Knight, the Sun Flame Knight, had cultivated back in his day!

How did the Second Son Brotherhood get their hands on it?

’Could the Sun Flame Knight have been a member of the Second Son Brotherhood too?’

One speculation after another surfaced in Roy’s mind.

Just then, Sandru said with a smile, ”As expected. Every new member who joins the organization has that same shocked expression the moment they see the Red Dragon Breathing Technique.”

”I’ve seen it many times, but I never get tired of it!”

Roy calmed himself, looked up at Sandru, and asked slowly, ”Has anyone in the organization actually cultivated the Red Dragon Breathing Technique?”

”Of course!” Sandru replied quickly. ”Where else do you think the Inheritance Map for the Red Dragon Breathing Technique came from!”

”Although the number of Contribution Points required is quite high, it’s not impossible to earn them if you work hard.”

That was easy for him to say, but exchanging Contribution Points for the Red Dragon Breathing Technique was incredibly difficult.

100,000 points!

The Red Dragon Breathing Technique required 100,000 Contribution Points to be exchanged.

As for the Harpies Breathing Technique, Rock Giant Breathing Technique, and Nightmare Beast Breathing Technique, they each required 50,000 Contribution Points.

Although the price of the Red Dragon Breathing Technique was double that of the other three, it was still reasonable.

After all, the Sun Flame Knight had already proven through his own actions that cultivating the Red Dragon Breathing Technique offered a chance to advance to the Legendary Level.

After browsing the Breathing Techniques, Roy began to look through the Secret Techniques and Weapons and Equipment available for exchange.

Time trickled by.

After five or six minutes, he had finished looking through the entire Scroll and returned it to Sandru.

”Interested in taking on a few tasks right now?” Sandru asked Roy.

”Maybe later. I have some personal matters to attend to recently,” Roy replied.

”When you want to take on a task, come find me at the tavern.”

”I’m usually there.”

”If I’m not, you can just tell the barkeep, Blatt, why you’re there. He’ll tell you what tasks are available.”

”By the way, Blatt is the one Catherine ordered her drink from.”

Sandru didn’t ask what personal matters Roy had. He opened a desk drawer, took out four Copper Coins stamped with a Seven-Pointed Star and Crossed Swords, and handed them to Roy, continuing,

”Catherine already gave you one, so I’ll give you four more.”

”You already know how to use these, so I won’t explain it again.”
