Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 2014: Assessment (3)

”Wow, this one directly exceeded the Silver Campʼs average score,” White Robe said in surprise after seeing the final score.

”Comparing their strongest individual score to your average score is meaningless,” Ye Zhongming was unconcerned about this. Afterwards, he stood up to award prizes to the top one hundred.

Watching the Red Condensation-grade equipment made peopleʼs eyes gleam with envy. The Silver Mask warriors and Gold Mask warriors observing on the side were also extremely envious.

The Bronze Camp warriors who had not yet taken the field were already stirred by the on-site atmosphere, finding it difficult to contain their excitement.

Next, the assessments for each individual event proceeded very smoothly, with good results basically achieved in every event. The two clan leaders were very happy, and everyone was too.

The Bronze Camp was the starting point and foundation for the Star-Eye Clanʼs warriors. If this place were strong, then undoubtedly the Silver and Gold Camps would also become stronger, and the Star-Eye Clan would naturally become stronger.

However, everyone also gained a genuine understanding of Ye Zhongmingʼs ʼimmense wealth and free-spending ways.ʼ Watching one Red Condensation-grade piece of equipment after another being awarded, and one Ke Steel Grade piece after another being handed out, it really seemed like they cost nothing.

Although orders had long prohibited the disclosure or recording of any clan matters, upon seeing such a scene, including the two Star-Eye leaders, everyone felt somewhat worried. Once the news leaked, the Taros Red Dwarves would definitely spare no effort to destroy Ye Zhongming and destroy the Star-Eye Clan.

Now they just hoped to give the Star-Eye Clan and Ye Zhongming more time to grow strong together. When they reached the point where they could stand equal to the Taros Red Dwarves, they would be safe.

It was just... no one really felt confident in their hearts.
The individual assessments ended quickly. Some were happy, some were worried. After all, besides the top one hundred winners, the scores of others were also to be recorded. Those ranked in the last hundred overall essentially belonged to the group to be eliminated, because the remaining assessment was collective and would not be included in individual performance.

When the final overall scores were announced, the Bronze Camp warriors who ranked in the last one hundred either stood stupefied or broke down. In front of so many people, in front of the clan leaders, they truly felt ashamed beyond words.

”You have been eliminated, and I admit this is cruel to do so in front of everyone,” Ye Zhongming suddenly stood up and said to these people.

”You may hate me. Thatʼs fine; this was indeed my decision. But please do not hate the Star-Eye Clan, because the pressure the clan faces is much greater than yours. The Star-Eye Clan is on the brink of extinction; every step is like standing at the edge of an abyss.”

Everyone knew the clanʼs situation, but it was the first time someone had said it publicly. First, awkwardness appeared on everyoneʼs faces, followed by unwillingness and hope!

The person who said these words brought enormous changes to a clan that had been lifeless and stagnant.

”Also, please do not give up. Because you were previously members of the Bronze Camp, you were eliminated by the Bronze Campʼs rules. But from now on, you are members of the Star-Eye Clan. If you meet the Bronze Campʼs recruitment rules, then next time, I hope you can strive hard to re-enter here, proving to the two clan leaders, to me, to your families, and to yourselves that your failure is temporary, not lifelong.”

After speaking, Ye Zhongming asked their respective Thousand-person Leaders to escort them out of the military camp personally.

As these people walked out the gate, most were already tearful. They looked back at the camp where they had lived for a long time, secretly vowing in their hearts to return next time.

”Those remaining, please do not relax, because it might be you who are eliminated next time,” Ye Zhongming continued. ”Alright, now we proceed to the collective confrontation. Opponents are randomly generated. After the first round, the Thousand-person team with the best score directly gets a bye into the top three. The remaining four teams will again draw lots; the winners enter the top three. After that, a single round-robin is implemented. The team with two wins directly obtains first place. The team with one win and one loss is second. The team with two losses is third. If after the round-robin, all teams have one win and one loss, then the final ranking will be determined based on the total number of survivors.”

After Ye Zhongming finished announcing, he had the Thousand-person Leaders of each Thousand-person team come up to draw lots.

This did not involve any underhanded manipulation; the terminal controlled it entirely.

Soon, the matchup results were generated: one versus seven, two versus ten, three versus four, five versus nine, six versus eight.

The content of the collective confrontation was not complex: a random map was selected, followed by an all-out battle.

This time, the Thousand-person Leaders and Deputy Thousand-person Leaders were also to take the field.

Although the content was simple, it tested the comprehensive strength of each Thousand-person team. Individual bravery was a key factor, but not the only one. Team coordination, tactics used, on-the-spot command, morale, reaction, etc., were all very important.

According to the order of the draw, the First Thousand-person Team and the Seventh Thousand-person Team entered the virtual battlefield.

This type of virtual battlefield was somewhat similar to the one used previously for the confrontation between the Assault Camp and the Bronze Camp, but this one was higher-level and more realistic. It could only be used upon application to the clan because after one use, many components needed replacement, and the consumption was significant.

”Old Ye, tell the truth, have you given Jie Kui any special advantages?” White Robe asked somewhat slyly on the side.

Ye Zhongming rolled his eyes upon hearing this. This guy had no sense of being the Star-Eye Clanʼs idol in private. This personality was a spitting image of a more powerful version of Xiao Hu. Ye Zhongming was still young, and he was already calling him ʼOld Ye.ʼ

”Of course I have,” Ye Zhongming did not avoid the topic.

Others on the side were very interested and asked Ye Zhongming how he had done it.

”I didnʼt provide equipment or anything; mainly, there wasnʼt enough time. But regarding some skills and medicines, I basically gave everything I could think of.”

”You are cheating!” White Robe exclaimed in a low voice upon hearing this.

This kind of holographic simulated combat would simulate all factors into the scenario. For example, each personʼs equipment, physical condition, logistical supplies, etc., would all be calculated, simulating the real combat situation as much as possible.

Therefore, Ye Zhongming saying he gave Jie Kui everything except equipment would naturally be calculated into the simulated scenario.

For instance, after Ye Zhongming returned from the Library Palace, he gave Jie Kui some ability and technique books. Although ten days couldnʼt cause a qualitative leap for his subordinates, it certainly could improve their Furelai a bit. Each person improving a bit meant a Thousand-person teamʼs combat power wouldnʼt be enhanced just a little.

Another example: he gave Jie Kui various potions—some that increased strength, some that increased agility, some that healed injuries, etc. These potions wouldnʼt actually be consumed, but before the battle started, the system would apply their effects as data to Jie Kuiʼs Thousand-person team. Whether in terms of strength or combat endurance, they would also gain significant enhancement.

Just these factors, while not guaranteeing Jie Kuiʼs Thousand-person team would secure first place, made it highly likely they would achieve a top-three position. After all, the Thousand-person team Jie Kui took over was not weak to begin with.

While Ye Zhongming openly admitted to cheating, the first collective confrontation began.
