Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1977: Xia Leiʼs fear

Many core members felt even more surprised and shocked at this moment.

Who was this? This was Cloud Peakʼs outwardly warm but inwardly cold Bloody Queen. Her methods were superb and ruthless, her personality calm, even cold. Except for Ye Zhongming, there seemed to be no one she wouldnʼt move against.

Look, now she was only an eight-star evolved. Among the lives present here, many were higher level than her, the rest were the same level as her, and even the number and combat power of the teams under their command were higher than Xia Leiʼs.

But no one dared to provoke this Cloud Peak Queen, because it would bring unimaginably cruel retaliation.

There were too many examples. Those who once thought they could challenge Cloud Peak, or who thought they could provoke Cloud Peak when Ye Zhongming was absent, had all turned to ashes and died without intact corpses under this womanʼs smile.

She also commanded Chameleon. When Ye Zhongming was absent, Chameleon would completely obey the ʼBlack-Hearted Queenʼsʼ commands. After years of development, Chameleon seemed to be everywhere. Their powerful intelligence and infiltration capabilities instilled fear in everyone.

As for the action teams, needless to say, forget the distant past; just in these past few months, during the attacks on other parts of the country and the attacks after discovering level-nine lifeforms, whenever they encountered difficult problems, Chameleon would take action. Either they eliminated the key figures of major forces, or they employed unknown methods to determine the living habits and weaknesses of level-nine lifeforms. They would even injure them first to minimize losses for subsequent troops.

Being able to assassinate heavily guarded faction leaders and injure top-tier existences—such Chameleon action teams was undoubtedly terrifying.

Some even suspected, were there already nine-star evolved or level-nine war beasts within the Chameleon?

Of course, this would never have an answer. Only Ye Zhongming and Xia Lei knew the answer.
Furthermore, some secrets within Cloud Peak Manor, such as the activation codes for the entire manorʼs defenses and facilities, the legendary, extremely powerful plant-type mutated lifeform underground, and the Cloud Peak treasury hidden in the safe house, all these were all under this womanʼs control.

At this moment, she showed a fearful expression. So just how many of these parasites were there?

Xia Lei took a deep breath to detach herself from the emotion. She knew she could not worry too much, as that would affect the entire Cloud Peakʼs confidence.

”The numbers are large.” Xia Lei repeated, then said: ”These four parasite groups had one common characteristic: their numbers were large, but the areas they occupied were not large, and were relatively hidden.”

”Two of the groups occupied valleys, the third occupied a mountain forest, and the other group was entrenched in a deserted small city.”

”I found it very strange why they would densely crowd into a not-too-large area, but there must be a reason. I originally ordered Chameleon to investigate the specific situations of all four areas, but in three areas, the Chameleon intelligence personnel were attacked as soon as they approached. Two reconnaissance teams were completely wiped out, and only two members escaped from the other team.”

”That was a full ten-person team. Although responsible for intelligence work, their combat power was comparable to that of the most elite squads in our forces. Yet, they didnʼt even reach the periphery; they were just approaching the outer area when they were attacked.”

As Xia Lei spoke above, the people below listened attentively, even the newly joined Deacon Tong was no exception. Her mood had changed considerably by now.

As a nine-star evolved, she was arrogant and self-confident. Previously, facing Cloud Peakʼs pressure, she chose to resist. She didnʼt truly believe she would fail, because Cloud Peak wasnʼt focusing all its efforts on annihilating the Five Ring Money. She was confident she could resist the Cloud Peak unit that came for her.

But when Mo Ye and the Death King Tree, both level nine, stood before her, Deacon Tong realized she had been somewhat naive. Those two could completely kill her.

She surrendered, largely due to Deacon Waterʼs persuasion, but she also knew resistance was meaningless.

But the Cloud Peak that seemed immensely powerful in her mind, was it really like this? Did it also have things it feared? Hearing what Xia Lei said, Deacon Tong recognized that the gap between herself, the Five Ring Money, and Cloud Peak was truly comprehensive. They had reached another level.

Their gaze was no longer even on Earth!

Their enemies were no longer even evolved lifeforms!

Deacon Tong, who had been leaning back in her chair, straightened up like everyone else. From this moment on, she truly considered herself a Cloud Peak member.

The time was short, but Cloud Peakʼs level and power had completely subdued her.

”Only one area managed to send back information, but not because they were stronger than the other teams; it was because they retreated promptly when they saw the situation turning bad.”

”Later, I sent the Exquisite Floating Ball to investigate, but it was shot down just as it reached the airspace above that area. Along with it, ten powerful aerial cavalry, both riders and mounts at level six, also lost contact.”

”From the attack to losing contact, it was only five seconds.”

The people below gasped in astonishment.

One Exquisite Floating Ball plus ten level-six aerial cavalry—given the strength of their respective teams, to shoot them all down in five seconds would require prior detection and concentrated fire. But once they flew above a certain altitude, except for Little Tigerʼs aerial cavalry unit, other teams probably had no good methods.

This matter indicated that the parasites in this area had powerful aerial forces or powerful anti-air capabilities.

”But I still set the target on this area, because compared to the other three, this one had the most information obtained.”

Xia Lei looked at everyone and said, ”The failure of the reconnaissance cost us our intelligence advantage. I will not continue to send people for reconnaissance; that would only increase losses. So, the battle two months later will be a close-quarters encounter. This is one reason for mobilizing most of the teams. Another reason is the enemyʼs numbers. Based on the information from the lucky surviving Chameleon reconnaissance team and the information transmitted before the Exquisite Floating Ball crashed, a rough estimate of this parasite group occupying a small city we selected has at least over five million individuals.”

Hearing this number really made everyone gasp.

They had experienced zombie tides of this number before, but back then, Cloud Peak was on the defensive, relying on sturdy city walls, which almost offset half the numbers.

But now, Cloud Peak was on the offensive. When the numerical difference might reach tenfold, even if the teams were strong, it was still a very dangerous situation.

At that time, even a small decision-making error could lead to defeat.

Xia Lei placed her hands on the table, her eyes showing resolve and fierceness for the first time.

”This is what Zhongming needs, so we must fight this battle. When the time comes, including all of Cloud Peakʼs top-tier lifeforms, and except for the teams defending in war zones and the manor, everyone must participate in this battle. Also, from now on, within the next two months, I require at least two million troops, whether evolved or mutated life forms, it doesnʼt matter. Averaged out, each core member must provide at least fifty thousand. No matter what methods you use, this is a task that must be completed!”
