Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1995: Unreasonable request

Jie Su remained silent for a long time, so long that he finished everything in front of him. Only after putting down his utensils did he sigh softly.

”You know, Zhongming, Iʼve imagined many scenarios of us achieving our common goal. I thought of as many processes to realize these scenarios as the scenarios themselves, but none of them were like what you plan to do. Itʼs too radical.”

Jie Su didnʼt let Ye Zhongming explain and continued, ”Iʼm not saying being radical is bad. Before the outcome is known, no one knows if a choice is right or wrong. But you must admit it, the path youʼve chosen is too dangerous. The chance of failure is much higher than with other methods.”

Ye Zhongming nodded. ”Youʼre right. My method naturally has a high risk level.”

”But...”

Ye Zhongming originally wanted to continue, but at that moment, a service staff member came over to ask about their payment method, interrupting their conversation. After the staff left, he continued, ”But what is our chance of success? Five ten-thousandths? Or one ten-thousandth? Or even less? Then this ʼeven smaller chance of successʼ from my method, compared to the original chance, is that tiny bit negligible, right?”

Jie Su didnʼt expect Ye Zhongming to explain from this angle. He was stunned for a moment, then nodded, admitting that Ye Zhongming was right.

”The path we chose is already incredibly arduous. Sacrificing a little safety to win a higher chance of success, I think itʼs worth it.”

Ye Zhongming lightly tapped his fingers on the table.

He had started planning many things since he learned about the situation of the cosmic races. Perhaps it was because the Bronze Masked Warriorʼs casual killing of a novice had provoked him, making him, who used to have the final say in the China region and was nearly invincible on Earth, feel a huge disparity. Perhaps the situation of the Star-Eye Clan gave Ye Zhongming an extreme sense of crisis; being part of it, he had to find ways to change it. Perhaps after reborning once, Ye Zhongming would always strive for the top, no matter when or where.
So, in the eyes of others, his choices were always full of danger. He seemed always to be progressing and living as if rushing against time. He seemed to treat every tomorrow as the last day.

”I need some time.”

Jie Su looked at Ye Zhongming and said, ”Whether itʼs the aircraft or the route, both require maneuvering. I thought about it just now and have some ideas, but I need some time. Weʼll contact each other then. When you return to your clan, you also need them to prepare equipment and people.”

Seeing that Ye Zhongming wasnʼt surprised at all by his agreement, Jie Su laughed and said, ”I feel like you still have something else up your sleeve, kid.”

Ye Zhongming cooperatively nodded.

Jie Suʼs smile widened a bit, and he said, ”Speak.”

”Arrays, your Su Clanʼs arrays. This... is there any room for discussion?”

When saying this, Ye Zhongming was not confident. After all, the Su Clan rose to prominence relying on arrays; this wasnʼt something they could casually show others.

Previously, Ye Zhongming had always suspected that the reason the Su Clan selectively set up arrays only for certain races was not only due to their nature but also to prevent others from deciphering their arrays.

More or less, there should be some.

Just like the Reina Star people and the Huoʼer Star people in the two major factions, and other major races, even if they had the Su Clanʼs defensive arrays, they were left from many, many years ago, and they probably werenʼt excellent arrays either.

Arrays were the core of the Su Clanʼs core. Even though he and Jie Su were already good friends and comrades-in-arms with shared ideals, bringing this up was still somewhat excessive.

However, for the sake of himself, the Star-Eye Clan, and Cloud Peak Manor, Ye Zhongming really didnʼt want to give up such an excellent resource.

He could only bite the bullet say it. If it were really negotiable, he was willing to pay a lot.

Seeing the slight surprise in Jie Suʼs calm expression and something deep in his eyes, Ye Zhongming sighed inwardly. He and the forces he relied on truly needed the Su Clanʼs array help too much.

Even though Ye Zhongmingʼs strength had greatly improved compared to when he first came from Earth, among the Ten Thousand Races of the universe, he was still an existence too tiny to be worth anything.

Even within the nearly extinct Star-Eye Clan, he didnʼt rank. Being able to become the Bronze Order Leader was due to a fortunate coincidence.

But every task Ye Zhongming needed to do required powerful force as reliance. He did have the support of the Library Palace, but the powerful librarians were trapped within Starshine City; nearby water couldnʼt quench a distant thirst.

Under these circumstances, if he could get the Su Clanʼs array help, it would greatly make up for the gap in strength. Many things he wanted to do would become feasible and secure.

The more he could do, the easier it would be for the Star-Eye Clan to escape its tough situation.

Also, he now understood the Su Clanʼs arrays. He knew that the array set up by the Su Clan agent at Cloud Peak back then seemed excellent at the time, and it might still be considered powerful on Earth. But within the Su Clan, it could only be considered lower tier, and Ye Zhongming was no longer satisfied.

He knew that after he sent the information back, Cloud Peak Manor would inevitably enter battles against various parasites. His subordinates might not understand clearly, but Ye Zhongming already knew a lot about the parasites.

Those monsters with bizarre abilities and overpowered reproductive capabilities were far more difficult to deal with than evolvers and other evolutionary lifeforms.

They were ʼorganizedʼ; the mother was wrapped outside Earth!

Ye Zhongming didnʼt know how his subordinates were developing now, but dealing with these parasites would certainly cause significant losses. If they could have an array like the Silk Sea Light Array to help, it would definitely allow Cloud Peak to lose fewer people. At the very least, Ye Zhongming didnʼt want to return to Earth and find that he could no longer see some familiar faces.

So, even though he knew this might make Jie Su unhappy or even distance himself, Ye Zhongming had to give it a try.

”Since you brought it up, you must be targeting not ordinary arrays, right?” Jie Su looked directly at Ye Zhongming and asked.

When he first heard Ye Zhongmingʼs request, he felt some anger, fury, and disappointment. He felt that with Ye Zhongmingʼs intelligence and emotional quotient, he shouldnʼt have raised such a question.

But upon second thought, he understood a little. After all, if he were in Ye Zhongmingʼs position, facing dual pressures from himself and his race, he wouldnʼt let go of any possibility for strength as long as it existed.

Ye Zhongming nodded. What he wanted was naturally not ordinary.

Jie Su stood up, forcing Ye Zhongming to stand up as well. At the same time, his heart gradually sank.

Leaving meant not wanting to discuss further; Ye Zhongming still understood that.

However, one sentence from Jie Su put Ye Zhongmingʼs heart back at ease.

”You have another reward for being the Novice champion: you can choose an expert from the cosmic races to go there and study, right?”

”Choose the Su Clan.”
