Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1998: Spike People

Jie Su and his guard entered the left path. His expression was serious at this moment. He glanced at the building on the right, and the bad feeling in his heart grew stronger and stronger.

This was a very ancient building. Precisely because of its antiquity, its structure was very characteristic of Starshine City, meaning its construction methods and materials used were the same as those of the survivor fortresses.

Such a building, no matter how ancient, was not something Jie Su could break open.

If he couldnʼt break it, it meant he and Ye Zhongming couldnʼt possibly gather before reaching the conference center.

This path, over a thousand meters long, which they could cover at full speed in just over ten seconds, felt like a one-way road that constantly devoured life.

Those people intentionally herded them here, right?

Jie Su glanced at the left side again; it was the same type of building. Actually, even if this side was passable, he couldnʼt leave like this.

Why did he come here? Wasnʼt it to protect Ye Zhongming? If he left by himself, it meant his friend, his ideals, would all leave him.

He could only go fast, faster, bypass this building, and go to support Ye Zhongming.

”Communications are jammed.”
The only guard said.

”Expected that earlier,” Jie Su replied.

These assassins had planned everything meticulously, one step at a time; naturally, they wouldnʼt let the Su Clan call for help.

Jie Su, who was running at a rapid pace, suddenly stopped and pulled the guard beside him to a halt.

He looked at the seemingly empty alley ahead with a solemn expression.

”Clap clap clap!” A round of applause sounded, followed by a voice with a hint of laughter.

”Not bad. For a Su Clan heir who doesnʼt even know his own ranking, to be able to detect me is really not bad.”

A shadow slowly appeared out of thin air in front of them.

It was a female lifeform, with a slender figure wearing fitted leather armor, two pairs of evenly distributed short wings on her back, and hands holding two one-meter-long steel forks.

What drew more attention were her feet. She wore no shoes, and instead of five toes like Earth humans, over ten sharp black bony spikes extended from her ankles, stabbing into the ground as she stood there.

”Spike People?” Jie Su was truly shocked. Shouldnʼt this race be extinct? Why would they appear here?

Speaking of the Spike People, it was related to the Star-Eye Clan.

Among the cosmic races, races skilled in assassination werenʼt limited to just the Star-Eye Clan and a few others. More famous and skilled than them were the Spike People.

Their people, regardless of gender, were all excellent assassins. They werenʼt numerous, but each was powerful. Even if not ambushing, just in face-to-face combat, they were not weak at all. Their agility always allowed them to seize the initiative in battle.

Another point that was the foundation of the Spike Peopleʼs standing among the cosmic races was their ability to make their bodies completely invisible for short periods.

Previously, Ye Zhongming had also used a similar ability on the Bronze Camp training ground. However, that ability couldnʼt be compared to this one of the Spike People.

Because the invisibility of the Spike People was true invisibility. They could move, attack, do everything they could when not invisible. As long as their strength was high enough, theoretically, they could maintain this state for life.

Of course, until their race was exterminated, no one achieved that.

However, being assassins, they would inevitably make enemies. Over time, the number of enemies would increase. After one operation, they offended a major race. In the following years, wherever the Spike People were, they would always suffer mysterious attacks. With continuous deaths, their already small numbers fell into crisis, and the entire raceʼs strength declined significantly.

”A tiger fallen to the plains is bullied by dogs.” Even animals are like this, let alone the Spike People with many enemies. In their weakened state, they were constantly consumed by races they had offended before and others wanting a share, until their final destruction.

Among these, during the first phase of dealing with the Spike People, the Star-Eye Clan was one of the main forces.

A race that should have been extinct for many years suddenly appeared before him. Jie Su knew things were really serious today.

These Spike People likely belonged to a mysterious organization or were an external force secretly created by a major race.

Whichever it was, they wouldnʼt let Jie Su leave alive. That way, the secret would remain a secret.

Moreover, an assassin skilled in using invisibility, even when detected, should launch an attack rather than reveal themselves. This meant they had absolute confidence in killing him.

Jie Su felt a headache. Things seemed far more complicated than he imagined.

”Quite knowledgeable.”

This female Spike Person didnʼt seem in a hurry to attack either. She started speaking while moving towards Jie Su, the steel forks in her hands turning back and forth as if glued to her hands.

”Just, itʼs meaningless now.” The female Spike Person stopped when she was about ten meters away from Jie Su and the others. A bright light suddenly shone on her body, and the next moment, she appeared in front of Jie Su, the steel forks already at his eyes.

Fortunately, Jie Su was already prepared. His body retreated swiftly, and his hand swung forward again, emitting the same light as before in the restaurant, blocking the Spike Personʼs steel forks.

”Relying on activating your own Furelai to counter attacks. You Su Clan people are still like this. Without arrays, you are inferior to even some minor races.”

”Let me see how many more times you can block!”

The Spike Person assassin suddenly accelerated. The two pairs of short wings on her back flapped quickly, providing her with ample speed. The steel forks in her hands almost turned into two beams of light, continuously thrusting towards Jie Su, forcing him, who was at a disadvantage in speed, to defend.

”Without arrays, you are trash!” Perhaps excited from the fight, the female Spike Personʼs voice turned sharp, constantly using this method to affect Jie Su.

”You go first!”

That guard, seeing the situation was bad, immediately charged over, wanting to help Jie Su block this assassin. But Jie Su’s expression changed and shouted, ”Donʼt come over!”

But it was already too late. The Su Clan personʼs short knife directly intervened between the two. First, it accurately struck one steel fork, then light swirled on his other hand, and he actually grabbed the other fork directly with his hand.

”Get back!”

”Childish.”

Jie Su and the Spike Person almost shouted simultaneously, but everything was too late. The Spike Person suddenly rose a bit, completely without warning, then swung her feet over. The bony spikes on them sliced through this Su Clan guard, cutting his armor and body into several sections.

Jie Su painfully retreated backward. His subordinate had used his life to create just a little bit of time for him.

Actually... Jie Su didnʼt need it.

But he couldnʼt waste her effort.

This young man, who didnʼt have much presence in the Su Clan, raised one hand towards the sky and one towards the earth. Two forces spurted above his head and beneath his feet.

”The Su Clan is no longer the Su Clan you remember.”

Jie Suʼs eyes were red as he coldly said.
