Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1981: Cannibal Chainʼs choice

”I do not know what this thing is, I donʼt even know its form, shape, color, etc. All I know is that this thing should be called ʼMoon Something Goldʼ, and it exists within the bodies of these parasites without magic crystals.”

Xia Lei spoke very seriously; otherwise, Liu Zhenghong would really think she was joking.

She had been researching these parasites for more than a day or two and had dissected more than one or two of their corpses. Even if not as many as mutated lifeforms and zombies, it was definitely several hundred.

Liu Zhenghong could be sure that during her dissections, she had not missed any part of these lifeforms. She had discovered many strange structures and powerful genes, but had never found any Moon Something Gold.

She did not believe she would make such a low-level mistake, overlooking some substance within the dissection subject.

”This thing should be very important. Although it wasnʼt stated in the code, I could sense that the importance of this thing among the cosmic races might not be inferior to magic crystals for us.”

Liu Zhenghong made an ”oh” sound, her eyes flickering with surprise and doubt.

Xia Lei stood up and said to Liu Zhenghong, ”Sister Hong, I leave this matter to you. Can you try your best to see if you can discover this Moon Something Gold? The cosmic races value it so highly, going to the extent of collecting parasite corpses, so presumably they are able to obtain this thing from them. If we also master this technology, then undoubtedly, our Cloud Peak will once again be ahead of other lifeforms.”

”Before, Zhongming always subconsciously showed a kind of worry. I didnʼt fully understand it before. As he grew increasingly powerful, this worry not only didnʼt decrease but instead became more severe.”

Xia Lei smiled bitterly and said, ”Gradually, I came to know that his gaze had long since left Earth and was fixed on the cosmic races. The more I understand, the more I also now share this worry about those lifeforms in the heavens.”
As she spoke, she pointed to the parasite corpses around them.

”Sister Hong, look, these things we have found nothing in, the cosmic races can extract from them something more important than magic crystals, purple equipment, etc. Just imagine how big the gap between us and them is.”

”So, I truly hope you can find this mysterious substance. That way, perhaps we can become a bit stronger and help Zhongming a bit more.”

It was rare to see Xia Lei appear so vulnerable. Liu Zhenghong no longer joked but hugged the Black-Hearted Queen.

”Donʼt worry, Old Liu and I will work on it together. I refuse to believe, since they are all gene-based lifeforms, that we are so far behind them.”

…………………………………………

In a base somewhere in the country.

There were only seven people in the room.

They were the seven heads of the Cannibal Chain.

The five regional managers, and the Chairman and Vice Chairman—they referred to them as the President.

The atmosphere was somewhat heavy because, at the very start of the meeting, the giants of the Cannibal Chain were asked a question by Wang Hanran.

Wang Hanran was the mysterious boss of the Cannibal Chain, once ranked in the top ten of the country. However, when Cloud Peak became dominant and the Five Ring Money stopped updating the country rankings, few paid attention to him anymore.

Wang Hanran asked, ”Facing Cloud Peak, what should we do?”

What should we do?

Who knows what to do?!

Now Cloud Peak was clearly aiming to unify the country zone, even the entire Earth. So what should we do?

Anyone who disagrees will be destroyed.

This was the message Cloud Peak Manor had been telling everyone through its actions these past few months.

The Cannibal Chain, once or even now, was also a top-tier commercial organization in the entire country zone. The choices they could make now were actually very few.

The Five Ring Money was an organization of equal fame. Competition between them had continued from the beginning of the apocalypse until recently, with neither side gaining a clear advantage. In fact, in the past year, the Five Ring Money had gained the upper hand.

They relied on Cloud Peak, mastering more and more resources, while the Cannibal Chain, lacking the Five Ring Moneyʼs boldness back then, wanted to maintain independence but also lost the opportunity for comprehensive cooperation with Cloud Peak.

Now, the Five Ring Money had also surrendered to Cloud Peak, and within the areas occupied by Cloud Peak, all Cannibal Chain branches and forces had been eradicated.

Yes, eradicated, not expelled.

Cloud Peak simply didnʼt want to have any further dealings with you.

This also meant that the Cannibal Chain had now lost the market in more than half of the country.

In the future, they would lose even more.

The organization was at a moment of life and death.

Not only did Wang Hanran know the situation, but everyone else did too. Outside rumors, there were talks of this manʼs disappearance or death, etc. This man, full of worries, clearly also did not know what to do.

”I think there are essentially two paths.”

One person spoke; it was the Vice President of the Cannibal Chain, second only to Wang Hanran in status.

”Speak.”

Wang Hanran picked up the wine glass in front of him and downed it in one go, which made him feel a bit better.

”Actually, everyone knows Cloud Peak has given us, and all forces in the country, two paths. One is to submit to them, become their vassals. Not cooperation, not joining, but being incorporated.”

”The other, for us, is not to join.”

The Vice President looked at everyone, then said, ”We only need to decide between these two choices. If everyone feels we can pledge allegiance to Cloud Peak, then thereʼs no need to say more; just give up resistance and follow their arrangements. Looking at the Thousand Beasts Villa, Leader Mu, and the Five Ring Money, we probably wonʼt lose our lives. However, the position we can obtain after joining Cloud Peak is uncertain. After all, those I mentioned earlier had good relations with Cloud Peak from the start... at least, better than ours.”

The others listened and looked at each other, but no one expressed an opinion; it was completely unclear what they were thinking.

The Vice President sighed inwardly, then continued, ”If we choose not to surrender, then there are many issues to consider. I summarize that there are two directions. One is non-resistance. Then we probably only have the path of moving far away. Although Cloud Peak Manorʼs banner is unifying the entire planet, everyone knows thatʼs wishful thinking. With their military strength, after unifying the country, it will basically be consumed in defending their gains. Attacking other regions, I donʼt think, is very likely.”

Everyone nodded. As the saying goes, itʼs easier to conquer a kingdom than to hold it—this was the theory.

”The second is resistance!”

The Vice Presidentʼs voice rose a bit here. ”If we resist, how do we resist? Do we go all out alone in a decisive battle with Cloud Peak, or join forces with other factions to form a coalition army, or adopt other methods like division, guerrilla warfare, or even leveraging zombie tides or beast tides? That would require a specific study.”

”So, now we need to determine our choice...”

After speaking, everyoneʼs gaze turned together towards Wang Hanran.
