Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1976: News from above (2)

Regarding the Soul Merchants, it had too much history with Cloud Peak Manor, and of course, it was all the bad kind.

Cloud Peak killed one crop of their Saints, and another would sprout in its place. They destroyed one of their bases, and another would appear. The Soul Merchantʼs strategy towards Cloud Peak also evolved from initial confrontation, to later avoidance, and finally to sporadic harassment.

This reflected the strength of both sides.

However, this tactic of the Soul Merchant, launching surprise attacks on Cloud Peak at unknown times, greatly annoyed many core members, especially the new and old heads in charge of commerce and transportation, such as Lu Yi.

If not for the Soul Merchant, the losses from each commercial operation would be slightly less. Accumulated over time, that would be a considerable figure.

Cloud Peak had not been inactive before. Chameleon were sent out to search for Soul Merchant bases and evolved, achieving some results, but the cost was equally huge. If things went badly, they could lose many excellent soldiers and Chameleon members. Later, Cloud Peakʼs approach was to strengthen its escorts and launch attacks only when definite information was obtained.

But the Soul Merchantʼs headquarters, their core, had never appeared in Cloud Peakʼs sight.

”And what about that remnant force in the far north? Should we wipe them out, too, while weʼre at it?” Liu Zhenghong suddenly spoke.

”Previously, due to the special environment there and our own busy schedules, although we tried some methods, the results werenʼt good. Now we have the conditions. Our level-nine lifeforms and gene corps can definitely fight in those extreme conditions. By breaking through there, we might even discover some secrets, like their routes and methods to the south, and their methods of surviving in cold regions, etc.”

Xia Lei thought for a moment and nodded. ”Alright. I originally planned to deal with it when our forces reached that area, but since we are moving against the Soul Merchant, that place, which has countless connections with it, should be eradicated too.”
”Red Hair, you take the Undead Dragon Fish and Yellow Ball, and go with Ya Tian and Ya Ni leading an elite gene warrior team. Also, allocate one hundred people from the Female Guard, with Xiao Min leading them, to go together.”

Without any delay, Xia Lei immediately set a simple plan; specifics would be discussed by Red Hair, Xiao Min, and others later.

”As for the attack on the Soul Merchant, the four branch divisions will be handled by the nearest war zones. Specific orders will follow. My team will handle their headquarters, Mo Yeʼs team, Chuyinʼs team, as well as Xia Bai and the remaining Female Guard. Yangos will also go.”

”Fine, Iʼll go, but I hate this name.” The evil dragon opened its mouth, filling the room with a stench. Liu Zhenghong directly went over and kicked the evil dragon on the head. The now level-nine evil dragon immediately closed its mouth obediently.

Xia Lei fanned the air in front of her face, then continued. ”Sixth, collect materials. A list will be distributed to everyone shortly. Whether by gathering or by plundering, the items must be obtained as quickly as possible, because they need to be sent to Zhongming in the skies through the channel.”

Everyone nodded one after another. What the boss requested must be done.

”Does Little Ye have any other requests?”

After kicking Yangos, Liu Zhenghong simply sat directly on the giant dragonʼs head. Yangos, who dared not provoke Liu Zhenghong afterwards, rolled its dragon eyes, looking as if it was asking if anyone could control her.

Others also inquired.

Everyone knew how much Ye Zhongming had given for Cloud Peak. Going to the skies was, one could say, fighting for the fate of Cloud Peak and even humanity. Everyone couldnʼt just comfortably enjoy the benefits here without thinking about giving back to their boss.

”Of course he does!” Xia Leiʼs expression turned serious.

”What I say next are all things we can do to help Zhongming.”

She knocked on the table and said solemnly, ”Because Zhongming did not speak with me directly, and the Star-Eye Clan relayed the information, I thought for three days based on the brief messages and understood a few things.”

”First, the situation of the Star-Eye Clan, this cosmic race, is probably not very good, or they are just a very weak race. I donʼt know how Zhongming chose them, but since he did, his path must be very difficult. So we must win more for Zhongming.”

With just that one sentence, everyoneʼs mood was stirred, and they all felt the urgency of time and the situation.

The boss started on hell mode after going to the universe. Earth must definitely contribute.

”Besides continuing to occupy more territory and ultimately unify the globe, I mentioned before that there is a major operation in two months, for our King. The target is those monsters without magic crystals; their lair is there.”

”Everyone knows, even though those monsters donʼt have the varied abilities of mutated lifeforms, their strength, speed, defense, their attack methods, and high intelligence are all terrifying. Whatʼs even more terrifying is their numbers.”

Xia Leiʼs tone made everyone aware of the difficulty, and they all listened attentively.

”We can attack everywhere, occupying most of China in a few months. This may not be a miracle, but we did well enough. But itʼs different for these ʼparasitesʼ. Yes, the Star-Eye Clan calls these monsters without magic crystals ʼparasitesʼ.”

”Since getting the news, I had Chameleon investigate these lifeforms. It was fine not investigating, but once we did, I became a bit nervous, even a little scared.”

Xia Leiʼs eyes lost focus, as if recalling something.

”The current Chameleon system is very powerful, both the intelligence department and the action teams. But in two days, theoretically, what and where they could investigate is actually very limited.”

”But in fact?!” Xia Leiʼs voice suddenly rose, her expression more serious and... apprehensive than when she announced challenging the whole world.

”In just the four areas investigated by Chameleon within two days, traces of them were found in all of them.”

Xia Lei shook her head with a bitter smile. ”Everyone knows what this means? It means that with random, non-directional searches, they were found in every direction... Itʼs as if they are everywhere!”

The people below, after a moment of stunned silence, couldnʼt help but start discussing.

Before, it wasnʼt that they hadnʼt encountered these monsters, from the initial Green-Skin Demons to later many types, some like dinosaurs, some like wild boars.

Even a few core members, like Liu Zhenghong, Le Dayuan, Xia Lei, Xia Bai, etc., had personally heard Ye Zhongming say that the Cloud Peak King, for a mission from the Taros Red Dwarves, broke into that monster in the Cold Bay Rainforest that seemed capable of devouring everything and then forming its own space—it was also a type of parasite!

”Strength, we are not afraid. Now, even level-nine lifeforms are killed by us if we say so; our entire Cloud Peak is the strongest.” Xia Lei sighed and said, ”What I fear is... the numbers.”

”At these four locations... the number of these parasites is just too, too many.”

”So many it makes my scalp tingle!”
