Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1988

”The Roscave Theory?”

”The Eight-Angle Imaging Work Record?”

”The Theory of Thermal Reaction and Plastic Polyhedronization?”

”The One Hundred and Ten Elements of Metal, Active Metal, and Metallic Plant Combination?”

”The Thousand Cases of Asma Gelinaʼs Failures?”

Ye Zhongming originally thought he had already learned many basic theories. Coming to the Library Palace to read, even if he couldnʼt understand some profound ones, he could still read some intermediate theories. That way, he could fill many gaps in his understanding of manufacturing principles, so that when learning the manufacturing techniques of the cosmic races of the universe, he wouldnʼt fail or be ignorant due to a lack of knowledge.

But upon arriving here, he realized he had still underestimated the scientific development of the cosmic races and underestimated the collection standard of the Library Palace.

Ye Zhongming selected a range of books, spanning from theory to specific designs, from materials to element combinations. But upon looking at them, he found that he didnʼt understand more than half.

Ye Zhongming ordered a drink. It was very expensive, roughly ten times more than outside, but he didnʼt care. He took it to a table and then began selecting books.

The scene of him reading from the light screen was being watched by many others through their own light screens, such as the three managers and the Dean of the Library Palace.
Five days were actually very short. Even though those who came here had surpassed level nine and their brainpower was greatly developed, making learning certain subjects easier with superhuman comprehension, there were still limits. Their learning ability might be several times or even dozens of times that of ordinary people. An ordinary person might need ten days or half a month to read a book and memorize it completely, but a top-tier expert might only need half a day or even a few hours. An ordinary person might need several months to thoroughly memorize a book and grasp its content, while a top-tier expert might only require three or four days, or even two or three days.

If comparing just comprehension ability, then top-tier experts had the advantage. For a book, they might only need to read it twice to learn its content.

Of course, this referred to those subjects that were not too profound and assumed a certain foundational knowledge.

Once the content became abstruse, even for top-tier evolved, it was not something that could be easily mastered. For example, with those profound theories on Earth, a person going from knowing nothing to proficient mastery might take decades. To further develop and advance it might take a lifetime, or even a lifetime might not be enough. Top-tier evolved would shorten this time, but it certainly wouldnʼt be a matter of a few days or months; it might take several years or even over a decade.

Applying the same logic to the various disciplines of the universe, to truly learn and master one subject, five days was completely insufficient.

This was also the reason why Round Spear was surprised when he heard Ye Zhongming ask if he could learn multiple books and then take them out to teach others.

Because the books here were all placed in the Library Palace by the cosmic races, who feared racial extinction would cause their valuable knowledge to be lost, so they made books from what they considered precious knowledge of all kinds and placed them here. Even though later, due to the decline of the Library Palace, other races no longer placed their most precious things here; according to the rules, what was placed here annually would not be things commonly found everywhere outside.

After all, everyone cared about face. If you put some garbage in, and the Library Palace simply published the selected books from each race for the year, you would be laughed at. Even if you didnʼt fear ridicule, the current super races and major races would be unhappy because the quality of what they put in was still acceptable; they needed to maintain the agreement with the Library Palace.

Some traditions might be dying out, but letting them die naturally was one thing; suddenly breaking them was another.

Therefore, for such books, even if top-tier evolved wanted to memorize them, it would require considerable time, let alone the theories, which were extremely difficult to memorize. If one was greedy for speed and memorized them roughly and mechanically, any deviation in one place meant failure. This was even more true for cultivation methods. You might think you remembered them, but if there was one mistake in the content of tens of thousands of words and thousands of diagrams, it could be fatal.

Furthermore, for many things, once you delved into them, you would unconsciously start practicing along with them. By the time you clear your mind from the practice, several days might have passed.

Therefore, in five days, an excellent person might only be able to learn one cultivation method. If one were slightly less excellent, they might not be able to learn even one.

In short, the photographic memory of top-tier evolved applied to certain things, like scenes, people, events, etc., but not to specialized book knowledge and theories.

”Probably need some time to see anything. Itʼs been a long time since we played chess, right? Letʼs play a game.”

The old white-bearded Dean looked at the motionless Ye Zhongming on the light screen and spoke to the person beside him.

”At a time like this, you arenʼt watching closely and still have the mood to play chess with me? Arenʼt afraid your mind wonʼt be calm, letting me break your undefeated record?”

This person replied. If Ye Zhongming were here, or someone who participated in the Novice battlefield were here, they would definitely call out this personʼs name.

Because everyoneʼs impression of him was too deep.

Zizi Kaba!

”I can win against you even while dividing my attention three ways.”

The old Dean didnʼt mind and went to get the chessboard.

”Since your chess skills are so much higher than mine, why are you still willing to play chess with me?” Zizi Kaba asked.

Actually, no matter what you do, if it loses its challenge, you always get bored. Chess was naturally like this.

”Itʼs much better than sitting around doing nothing.”

This sentence made Zizi Kaba fall silent.

Huh?

The white-bearded Dean suddenly made a sound, casually threw the chessboard aside, and leaned close to the light screen. He saw Ye Zhongming tap twice on the machine beside him, then fall back into stillness.

”Did he change books?” The old Dean said uncertainly. From this angle, he couldnʼt clearly see the specific content Ye Zhongming was viewing.

Zizi Kaba nodded. ”He should have changed.”

He was very familiar with the Library Palace, often came here to read, and was well-versed in the operational process. Ye Zhongmingʼs actions just now were clearly changing books.

”Twenty-five minutes?” The old Dean checked the time, his tone somewhat angry, followed by disappointment in his expression.

Zizi Kaba knew why the old Dean was disappointed.

After the Library Palace declined, the librarians of the Library Palace still received respect from the cosmic races. However, they were also bound to this place by rules and past vows.

They could not walk out of the Library Palace, let alone leave Starshine City. They were not allowed to marry, not allowed to have children, not allowed to expand their numbers.

Only when one librarian died could they select one from the orphans of the cosmic races, no older than two years, and bring them in to raise.

Life here was lonely, monotonous, and... enough to drive people mad.

Originally, every generation of librarians lived in this manner. They all endured this loneliness and monotony silently until one thing became known to the librarians, after which their thoughts gradually changed.
