Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1347: Laughter behind the back

Most of the time, the apocalypse was silent. Some killings happened silently, too.

As the Cloud Peak squad got deeper into the rainforest, their fights became increasingly frequent.

This was even after Ye Zhongming and Xia Bai released their strong auras.

The rainforest felt mysterious and problematic.

The scale of the battle wasn’t huge, and they were all very short. They weren’t solved instantly, and there were a few dozen times that lasted more than five seconds. Some longer battles took a minute.

Don’t underestimate this minute. This was very dangerous in this rainforest.

There was a patch of harmless-looking mushrooms that looked similar to the ground. But when the team got close, they released purple poison and then popped up from the ground. They used their roots to attack Cloud Peak.

There were many poisonous mushrooms. The part above the surface wasn’t big, and they looked the same as ordinary mushrooms. So that patch had tens of thousands of mushrooms.

Their defense wasn’t good, and they were very weak. Anyone in the squad could insta kill them.

However, their roots were so sharp they could pierce through green defensive equipment. The poison made one dizzy, which allowed them to attack.
Although they took a minute to end the battle, more than half of the warriors were injured, and their equipment suffered from some damage.

There was even one battle beast that had a weak defense due to it being a support type that died from the roots. The female warrior who had been numb from killing had a rare look of sadness on her face.

While impressed by how weak but sharp these level two and three mushrooms were, everyone also knew that the rainforest used this method to prove its danger.

“If we were to level this area, it might not be so problematic.”

A female guards captain killed a giant serpent that fell from a tree. She looked at the blood splatter around her body and shook her head.

That was true. If the team didn’t need to explore and just destroyed this area, not to mention if it was possible, at least they wouldn’t be as frustrated as they are now.

It was right, but they couldn’t do it. This quest was just to search for clues. They couldnʼt level this place even if they were here to get materials.

It might be possible if the entire Cloud Peak came, but the rewards would definitely be less than what they put in. Any rational super faction wouldn’t do it.

Ye Zhongming knew how badly such frequent but weak attacks would affect one’s emotions. But there was nothing he could do and nothing he would do.

He knew that his subordinates would quickly adapt to the environment.

Each person used their poison removal pills they had prepared. Because of this, most of the poison mists in the rainforest weren’t dangerous. Apart from that, ye Zhongming prepared even better antidotes just in case.

The Cloud Peak squad slowly adapted to the rainforest and became more efficient.

The defense-type warriors were on the outside, with the ranged and air defense warriors in the center. Various battle beasts with support abilities were beside them, which solidified the formation. Ye Zhongming and Xia Bai also controlled the ground and sky at the front and back to ensure they could react quickly.

Chameleon members were in charge of scouting and being sentries. They were used to that so Ye Zhongming wouldn’t keep them in the squad.

Zhao Xiangxue naturally stuck with Ye Zhongming. Her job made her a super fighter; when she was in Chameleon, she was always the trump card.

Ye Zhongming felt that this mission was a gamble of luck. There shouldn’t be much danger unless they face a level eighth mutated lifeform. With him and Xia Bai, they were strong enough. He kept Yangos, Yellow Ball, and Red Hair in Cloud Peak to help defend.

But even he didn’t expect the rainforest to teach them a tough lesson.

Two hours after they entered the rainforest, the team had entered a place that evolved who relied on this place for survival called Death Sign Pool.

This was an inner lake of the rainforest. It wasn’t big but was one of the few water sources on the outskirts of the rainforest. This was where many mutated lifeforms came to drink.

Of course, this was also where animals hunted.

In the information they got, this was a very dangerous place.

Everyone was careful when they got close, afraid they would face unknown dangers. Even Ye Zhongming had planned to wrap around this place.

There was no need to find trouble when you knew there would be many mutated lifeforms here.

When Cloud Peak started to wrap around, a bunch of mutated apes saw them and shouted.

Hundreds of apes broke the silence of the rainforest. Various lifeforms moved around them. Some started to fly, and many lifeforms were in panic.

This was a start. Various other lifeforms gave out sounds, and they connected in a short few seconds to send a small part of the rainforest into chaos.

Ye Zhongming had a look of regret.

It was too late when he saw the apes. He knew why Chameleon didn’t give a warning, as the apes were too crafty.

In the last life, he knew that these apes could camouflage. Apart from that, they were herbivores, so they wouldn’t attack evolved. Their levels were slightly lower, and after evolving, they became tough to catch. This was why humans weren’t interested in them.

They didn’t look vicious; instead, they looked very cute. In the last life, many were tamed into battle beasts and were popular among females.

The Chameleon member might have missed out because of their camouflage. Even if they didn’t miss out, there weren’t many of them, and they looked gentle. They were also level one and two, so it was normal for the members to feel they weren’t dangerous.

But Ye Zhhongming knew that these fellows were annoying. When they were tamed, they were well-behaved and knew how to act cute. When needed, they could help evolved send messages or be sentries.

But in the wild, they were spineless lifeforms.

To prevent other carnivorous lifeforms from eating them, they would join some strong lifeforms or join groups to become a support race. Their job was to be a sentry!

In peacetime, some animals would do it much less in the apocalypse, when everything was much more intelligent.

When these apes were underestimated, they became a huge problem.
