Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1346: Searching for what?

The environment was the most significant change in the apocalypse apart from humans.

Without deforestation, global warming, water and soil pollution, and human’s nature restructuring.

After Earth managed to run naturally for three years, the original ecosystem became mainstream on this planet.

Human traces were still spread worldwide but stopped destroying the environment.

Nature started to take the upper hand and even chased humans out of some regions.

Cold Bay Rainforest was such a location.

Unlike the Amazon, a flooded forest, the Cold Bay Rainforest was on plains.

In the past, due to the fertile soil, humans had started to develop this area. However, they started slightly later and focused on tourism and agriculture, which was why the destruction of its natural environment was minimal.

After the apocalypse started, the plants and animals here started to mutate. The few humans and zombies were quickly cleared.

In the first one to two years, no one disturbed this place. Mutated animals and plants killed each other, reproducing and evolving.
This was until one day when an adventurer squad entered this area and saw recipe materials with a big market.

Thus, more squads entered this area to try to gain riches.

But humans weren’t the rulers of the Earth anymore; the other mutated lifeforms were. Human evolved entered the rainforest, and continued to die there. To date, they didn’t make much progress and instead, suffered huge losses.

There was even a seven-star evolved that died here.

Under such circumstances, Ye Zhongming led the female guards and one Chameleon operation squad to enter.

“The first tree that was discovered was the main ingredient of Floating Potion. The main function was to reduce the effects of gravity, so this material wasn’t expensive. The potions were also very popular. Many crafting-job users got such a recipe and were able to provide it. The price was not expensive, but it wasn’t too cheap. There was a huge demand, so one could imagine how much profit was available.”

Zhao Xiangxue walked alongside Ye Zhongming while introducing the situation. The intel team knew that Ye Zhongming was coming personally, so they were very detailed.

“Old Sandalwood Tree?”

Zhao Xiangxue was stunned, “Brother, you know about this?”

Ye Zhongming shook his head.

He naturally knew about the Floating Potion and was very familiar with it. This was one of the potions in his last life that each evolved would have. They would drink one before fighting, and the effects were obvious. If he remembered correctly, the recipe wasn’t rare, and there were a lot of materials, so the prices were low. There was even a lab that modified this potion to increase the time it lasted.

She looked suspiciously at Ye Zhongming and continued, “Apart from that, they discovered many other things that evolved can use. Like Magical Thinking Mushroom, Three Day Grass, Red Water Beetle, etc.”

A squirrel-like battle beast on a female guard warrior’s shoulder spat its tongue to hit the tree beside it. Everyone looked over and saw some green liquid flow from the branch. A hand-sized mutated lifeform turned around on the branch and fell to the ground, revealing the black demon crystal on its stomach.

It was actually a level-three mutated lifeform!

No one recognised what it had mutated from; it might not even be a lifeform from Earth. Its evolution level couldn’t hurt anyone here, but nearly everyone didn’t notice it. Only this battle beast with special abilities noticed it. This sent a chill down their spines. At the same time, they realised that the mutate lifeforms were far harder to deal with than humans.

“Be careful!”

Ye Zhongming reminded, and the squad entered their battle modes.

“Cold Bay Rainforest is big, near 100 thousand acres. There are numerous mutated lifeforms here. Even if this wasn’t a place to get materials, it has the potential to become a hunting ground, so evolved came over to take risks. Some factions also moved their base nearby. At its peak, there were hundreds of human camps around.”

“But things changed a few months ago.” A staff appeared in Zhao Xiangxue’s hands, along with a magic sphere in the other.

“Although this place was filled with danger and people died every day, everyone still obtained many resources to keep tens of thousands of people alive. But one day, evolved that entered started to go missing. No one knew why. Many large-scale searches couldn’t give any answers and, caused more people to go missing. Some people left, but some still stayed. They didn’t head deep into the rainforest anymore and struggled to survive on the outside. Only some slightly stronger ones would enter.”

“The information that we got was mostly from these people.”

Zhao Xiangxue stopped. She had said most of what she knew, and all that was left was to lead the way to the locations that they knew to see if they could find the thing mentioned.

“What are we looking for?”

Xia Bai, who had reached level eight, was now different; maybe not wearing the mask caused her to regain the courage to face people again. The current Xia Bai was still cold, feisty, and silent, but she started to speak to others.

However, most of the time, she still spoke to Ye Zhongming.

“Some shit.” Ye Zhongming’s words caused their footsteps to get messy.

“Some shedded skin.” Their movement slowed.

“Maybe some corpses.”

Even Zhao Xiangxue couldn’t help but look towards Ye Zhongming.

“Of course, there are some… Tracks. If we follow them, we might meet some… Fellows.”

“What?” Black mist rose in Xia Bai’s eyes.

Ye Zhongming sighed.

“It wasn’t very exact but if my guesses are right… They should be enemies, real enemies.”
