Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1323: Second stage

Not only did Ying City have rats, but other cities had rats, too.

Apart from rats, there were various underground lifeforms: centipedes, ants, moles, and even some snakes and frogs.

These things were the kings of the underground.

Usually, they attack each other and see each other as food. But today, they started facing the enemy together.

The first batch of lifeforms that Cloud Peak sensed were a bunch of mutated ants.

The difference from other underground lifeforms was that the mutated ants preferred to pull the lifeforms they hunted above ground back down into their holes to feast.

They didn’t like rats, moles, and snakes.

When Cloud Peak’s battle squad indeed Xingzhou City, these sensitive fellows were the first few batches that noticed that the battle had begun.

They were ready to attack Cloud Peak’s battle squad.

But before they could get to the surface, they bumped into Ying City’s mutated rat army.
Facing an opponent many times fewer than their numbers, the mutated rats were courageous.

The conflict happened instantly. Numerous lives clashed and used their abilities in the soil.

Due to the intense fights, the ground split open like an earthquake, causing one region to collapse. The energy and dirt that seeped out from that area were like blades that turned the place into a restricted zone.

This huge commotion terrified not only the evolved above but also Guang Yao. He was nervous because he was afraid that if the effect of this area increased and caused chaos throughout the battlefield, that would be a huge problem.

Fortunately, the way the underground lifeforms fought was much better suited for the underground. Be it the soil or the various water pipes, these were places that those lifeforms would choose.

The first batch of mutated ants were surrounded and killed within a few minutes.

Although the ants killed a similar amount of rats, this was due to their thick shell and different attack methods—especially the poison. Before the rats could get close, they were able to deal a huge amount of damage.

A few minutes of fighting caused nearly all the underground lifeforms of Xingzhou City to rush over. Under Guang Yao’s leadership, Ye Zhongming controlled the rat army that belonged to Cloud Peak to hide. They searched for the smaller groups to attack. They used this method to reduce the number of enemies and to preserve their strength.

Be it Guang Yao or Ye Zhognming, they didn’t want to lose this army here.

Liu Zhenghong requested this. She needed these rats to reproduce and increase the number of mutated rats.

The battle underground was intense, and so was the battle above.

No matter how hard they tried to be secretive, the more warriors entered the city, the more attention the mutated lifeforms received. They started to surge in this direction.

The alley battles weren’t as easy as before.

“Boss, request to enter the second stage.”

Guang Yao asked Ye Zhongming. He felt it was time to execute the second stage.

Ye Zhongming stood up and nodded before walking out of the temporary command post.

He would be participating in this new round of battle.

He jumped on Yangos’ back and slapped the evil dragon, “Time for us.”

The moment Yangos heard it, it was extremely excited and gave a loud roar.

The dragonʼs roar caused the entire city to come alive.

Some flying lifeforms flew up in the distance toward this area. They gathered together in a dense group.

The mutated lifeforms on the ground also charged toward Cloud Peak’s direction.

“Wang!”

Yellow Ball turned into a golden shadow and jumped onto Yangos’s back.

The evil dragon turned around unhappily. It didn’t feel good for a lifeform of the same level to stand on its back.

Yangos’s opposition was ineffective, so it roared again before charging into the sky. Today, Ye Zhongming, Yellow Ball had a tough mission.

“Xia Bai, leaving it to you!”

Ye Zhongming shouted to Xia Bai before leading the dragon and dog towards the west.

Xia Bai looked as Ye Zhongming flew into the distance. She waved at the female guards and a team behind before they moved towards the battlefield.

“Air alarm! Contact in 30 seconds!”

Guang Yao received the notification and made the orders.

His orders were given, and the giant vehicles drove into the battlefield. The black cloth covering them was removed, revealing many black things.

Cloud Peak was familiar with half of them- Violent Lightning Turret.

As Ye Zhongming had to craft many things, and the crystal cannons could replace these turrets, it had been a long time since he had crafted new turrets.

But it was different this time. The crystal cannons weren’t strong enough to deal with forces in the air. The Violent Lightning Turrets were very important in such a battle where they were proactively attacking.

Ye Zhongming specially created a few hundred turrets this time.

As he couldn’t upgrade it, these turrets might not be able to cause lethal damage to high-level lifeforms. However, once they reach a certain number, that could compensate for the lack of numbers.

It wasn’t a joke when hundreds of turrets fired simultaneously.

On some other vehicles, there were small cannons similar to mortars. They weren’t crystal weapons but elemental weapons that used wind element energy to attack.

Ball Blade Mortar.

This was the name of this weapon.

Ye Zhongming didn’t craft these; they came from another Smith in Cloud Peak, who modified the materials and gave them to Ye Zhongming.

Not everyone had as much mental energy and a high success rate as Ye Zhongming. The Wind Ball Mortars took a long time to craft and only reached a small scale today.

That Smith used many mental energy potions and roughly half a year to create 200 mortars.

Now, this was the first time they were being used on the battlefield.

It looked like a mortar, and the way it was fired was similar. The difference was that it didn’t fire cannonballs but energy bullets. There were two types that you could select. One was wind blades, and the other was a wind ball.

The former was fast and penetrative. They were sharp like blades and dealt heavy single-target damage. THe latter was slow and had a smaller range, but it would explode and deal AOE damage.

Each of them fired a few dozen wind-blade attacks and around twenty wind-ball attacks. After which, they would run out of energy and need to charge in a place with wind currents. The charging time would depend on the speed of the air currents. It would take around a day to fill if the wind is suitable.

Be it Violent Lightning Turret or this Wind Ball Mortar, they were prepared by Cloud Peak to deal with flying mutated lifeforms.

As the apocalypse progressed, the threats from the skies increased.

Beside the vehicles with the two weapons were the female guards and warriors holding two thousand rpgs. There were also around five thousand ranged evolved standing around.

They were either job users like archers, shooters, mages, etc, or they were holding various guns or crossbows. Li Qiang led them and were the outline of Cloud Peak’s air defense force.

This air force waited for orders as they looked at the mutated lifeforms getting close.

The battle continued in the city. But if you looked closely, you would see that the various forces weren’t heading forward but retreating!

Many people didn’t understand why. To them, they entered Xingzhou silently, so they should continue forward and battle the lifeforms like how they wiped out the mutated apes.

Why retreat? Especially when the battle was so smooth.

They didn’t understand, but be it Cloud Peak or the various factions, they listened to orders and headed toward the base.

The mutated lifeforms chased.

“Begin!”

Guang Yao gave the order, and Cloud Peak’s second stage attack began.
