Apocalypse Gachapon

Chapter 1330: Simple Modification

Many people turned to look at Guang Yao. They knew that the most crucial order was about to be given.

This order was simple—it only needed one or two words, but they had different meanings.

You could understand it as the final attack; you could also understand it as them going all out.

After that order was given, it might test his leadership even more. But those were just small orders. The importance of those orders was much smaller compared to this.

“Wait!”

Guang Yao was solemn. He looked at the videos from the Exquisite Floating Ball and waited.

“But captain, we can’t stop the air forces for as long as we thought. It might be the final few dozen seconds; what if…”

“Right, captain. The zombie horde and the beasts are getting close. Our forces battling them have sent back large amounts of casualty reports. Only 50 meters are left…”

“Captain, large amounts of lifeforms have appeared around us. There are 20 thousand zombies on our left and 50 thousand mutated animals on our right. The area behind us is weird; it seems like grass plains…. But it is moving. They should be plants!”

“The command center is being attacked. Hundreds of flying lifeforms are attacking us!”
Each news was rushing Guang Yao to give that most important order.

50-meter distance. While fighting and retreating, it would take only a minute. Usually, that time would pass in a blink, but now, it concerned the effectiveness of the final attack.

The unassuming fifty-meter distance. If the entire city was in a semi-circle, the area wasn’t small. There would be tens of thousands of mutated lifeforms in that space.

If they attacked now, these mutated lifeforms might survive easily. They would form a second attack on the Cloud Peak battle squad. If you added those that were stopped by the flames, they would be overrun…

Cloud Peak would face a huge amount of pressure.

A small mistake would affect the final outcome on the battlefield. These tens of thousands of lifeforms were a big mistake!

But if he didn’t give the order?

The command center was being attacked. Flying lifeforms flew from all directions, and the air defense battle squad couldn’t stop them. The defense focused on the air region of the warriors in the city, not the command center.

The Zombie and beast hordes were attacking the retreating Cloud Peak forces. Even if they were well-trained and weren’t in chaos, this wasn’t cold weapons era where they could retreat without damage. This was the apocalypse. Skills and energy would fly into the formation. It was impossible to block them all, and casualties would increase.

Also, the command center, along with the formation at the front, was facing the attacks of mutated lifeforms from surrounding areas. If the main force couldn’t retreat, then…

These thoughts appeared in Guang Yao’s mind. He knew he had to choose within the next few seconds.

This was a crucial decision.

“Believe in them; wait for them to enter the best attack distance!”

“All the unneeded members head out and attack those annoying fellows above. The others, get ready to retreat!”

Guang Yao decided to follow the original plan. Even if they had to pay a price, it was better than affecting the overall situation.

As for those brothers who were sacrificed, he could only say sorry.

Intense attacks could be heard from outside the command center. Guang Yao’s battle squad’s messengers had begun to fight with the flying lifeforms above. Guang Yao’s battle squad was made up of former Resistance Zone members. A gun was the standard weapon. They were traditional guns and not crystal weapons. They had the Lazy Men Case, which was modified. With precise shooting, those flying lifeforms couldn’t get close quickly.

“Ten meteors!”

The messenger in charge shouted and caused everyone to hold their breath.

“Five meters!”

Each of them got ready to spread the message and input the final orders.

“They have entered the best firing zone!”

“Fire!”

Those two sentences were connected. At the same time, all Cloud Peak warriors that were retreating received the order.

There was no loud rumbling. It just sounded like thousands of cannons firing at the same time.

Crystal cannons, guns, grenades, and small drones tossing crystal explosives flew from the formation and landed in the zombie horde that had entered range.

At the same time, the War Fortress turned its barrel and stopped attacking the sky. It started firing at the ground.

Louder explosions could be heard, and the ground started to shake. Traditional explosives, along with crystal weapon traps, were ignited.

Flesh and blood flew among the zombie and beast hordes. Batches and batches of lifeforms fell under such attacks. Those attacks previously used on the mutated apes reappeared and were much stronger now.

A very powerful crystal cannon appeared. You needed to equip over 20 level five crystals, but it could only fire twice.

This wasn’t a new model. It was only modified. In Le Dayuan’s words, this thing insulted the lab’s standards.

But at this moment, it was very effective. This modified cannon was very rough. The energy conversion rate was low and didn’t use much crystal energy. It was a serious waste of energy. The material of the barrel and cannon body wasn’t suitable, and after a few dozen shots, it would spoil and cause a huge waste.

But Ye Zhongming still crafted many of these modified cannons for their strengths.

They were simple and violent.

After two shots, 20 level-five crystals were gone. But each shot would cause an AOE slicing damage. It couldn’t compare to Annihilation but was much stronger than other cannons.

This thing wasn’t to deal with the high-level lifeforms but those level four and below. One cannon would open a long moat where all lifeforms level four and below would be instantly killed.

In terms of return, this thing was not efficient. It was not certain if the crystals you got from killing those level four and below lifeforms reached 20 level five crystals.

But on the battlefield, after these cannons fired, the number of mutated lifeforms reduced.

This gave other weapons a great chance to attack and they were super efficient.

Many lab members who opposed crafting this weapon were finally supportive.

Sometimes, you had to look at the effect and not just at the actual numbers.
