Algorithm system

Algorithm Storm 2Lin Yuan called his algorithm the “Super Piece-Rate Algorithm.”

This was because the essence of this algorithm was to transform the food industry, which was originally difficult to precisely measure by piece, into something measurable.

From then on, the slackers no longer had any room to survive.

They couldn’t make excuses to casually go to the restroom for a game of Honor of Kings before coming out, nor could they slack off during work.

This naturally led to a great deal of dissatisfaction, and Lin Yuan naturally became the target of a massive outpouring of negative public opinion online.

But Lin Yuan always firmly believed in one thing—the enforcement of rules would inevitably eliminate those who did not abide by them.

If slackers were not dealt with, it would be the greatest unfairness to those who worked diligently.

Lin Yuan quickly spoke out on social media: “Many people haven’t grasped one point. Low wages and slacking off are two different matters.”

“If the compensation you receive is only worth four hours of work, then why do you forcefully inflate those four hours into eight? What’s wrong with using the remaining four hours for something else? Is it really interesting to be tied to one place?”

Lin Yuan discovered that many people’s logical thinking was completely muddled; they seemed to only approach things from their purely emotional perspective.

Lin Yuan’s algorithm made it impossible for them to slack off, so they used their already meager income as an excuse, as if Lin Yuan were an evil vampire.

However, Lin Yuan’s original intention was to free them from the state of boringly wasting time.

Furthermore, slackers should not be pitied.

Many people criticized Lin Yuan for being harsh on laborers.

But Lin Yuan quickly provided proof—he was rectifying the industry, establishing order, and he did not favor any one side.

This was because his algorithm not only accepted registrations from merchants but also provided a registration portal for every laborer. Every laborer could see their score in the algorithm’s eyes, and then the algorithm would provide an average salary for different score levels.

For example: Zhang San’s personal score is 7.6 (out of 10), and the algorithm would also show that the average salary for a 7.6 score among all participating merchants is 6,322 yuan/month. This way, Zhang San would clearly know whether his current income was too much or too little.

If the store only paid Zhang San around 5,000 yuan per month, he would naturally know he was being exploited a bit too harshly. As for whether to change jobs, that would be entirely up to him.

Even when changing jobs, he could have a general reference based on the salary provided by the algorithm.

Therefore, this algorithm essentially allows laborers to open up their privacy in order to gain fair evaluation and the right to know.

This further differentiates them from the slackers and allows them to truly be on equal footing with employers.

Lin Yuan’s mind was very clear; if he blindly pushed this algorithm, it would be almost impossible to succeed.

After being immersed for some time, he gradually understood the core driving force for pushing something forward: it was to let those being pushed taste the sweetness.

This was also why he chose to cooperate with Tesla.

Because the Tesla brand inherently carried a certain prestige, although Lin Yuan found this prestige somewhat childish, the market nonetheless recognized it.

The benefit of this prestige was that it could support the initial brand recognition of Tesla Food Delivery, thereby saving a large amount of advertising costs and making investors more willing to inject capital.

For example, the brand Coarse Grain; the public’s first impression of it is that it’s an alternative to first-tier brands. Its performance might not be top-tier, but its cost-effectiveness is absolutely supreme.

Based on this perception, Coarse Grain Lei Zi could save a significant amount on advertising costs.

The same was true for Tesla; the public’s perception of it is an industry pioneer, always at the forefront.

Therefore, this aligned perfectly with what Lin Yuan wanted to do, because Lin Yuan aimed for a complete reform of the food delivery industry.

Relying on Tesla’s brand prestige, Lin Yuan quickly acquired the first batch of users in the early stages. Afterward, through the algorithm’s inherent power, he firmly captured these users with immense consumption potential by controlling food safety.

Then, through word-of-mouth, it would snowball, forming an exponential spread effect.

Next, Tesla Food Delivery would firmly occupy the mid-to-high-end segment of the food delivery industry and could also expand the food delivery market, bringing in those who were originally hesitant about food delivery.

By firmly occupying the mid-to-high-end market, there would be sufficient profits to feed back to merchants and delivery riderss.

Under this massive outpouring of benefits, the sense of oppression brought by the algorithm could also be slowly accepted.

Otherwise, the algorithm’s constant surveillance of laborers would certainly cause immense resentment, leading to resistance and making it impossible to implement.

However, with sufficient profits, the laborers monitored by the algorithm also felt relieved. Furthermore, the algorithm ensured that these profits would not be monopolized by merchants, because the algorithm would score each of them and provide an industry average salary reference.

The laborers quickly realized that, although this algorithm was a bit harsh, constantly beeping and warning them for every little mistake during work, if they worked hard, this algorithm was truly humane.

The algorithm even proactively reminded me that my boss was paying me so much less than he should have been.

I can also use the algorithm’s score to confidently demand a raise from my boss, saying, “Look, the algorithm gave me a score of 8 or higher, why are you paying me a 7-point salary?”

The laborers monitored by the algorithm eventually discovered that this algorithm was truly like a benevolent father—it was strict when managing people, but it never hesitated to give benefits as long as they worked hard. All of the algorithm’s functions were completely free.

As for the merchants, although the algorithm helped laborers stand on equal footing with them, the merchants did not feel offended.

Because any merchant with a normal mind knew that laborers created wealth for them, and they were essentially on the same boat.

After the algorithm provided scores, the slackers had nowhere to hide, and those diligent, skilled employees immediately became sought-after. Most merchants proactively increased salaries.

Of course, many merchants were also eliminated.

Because with everything transparent, merchants who couldn’t afford sufficient wages would naturally be eliminated. The reason behind this was that these merchants themselves lacked competitiveness.

A truly transparent and open market is like this; a lack of competitiveness means being eliminated in minutes.

Therefore, an incredibly bizarre scene appeared online.

People who hadn’t encountered this algorithm were constantly worried, wondering if humanity was going to be ruled by Skynet.

Meanwhile, the practitioners filtered by the Tesla Food Delivery platform—merchants, their employees, delivery riderss, and diners—all felt that this algorithm was absolutely fantastic.

Merchants no longer had to worry about bad money driving out good; using fresh ingredients was visible to diners.

Every effort and skill improvement of the employees would be reflected in their personal scores.

Riders’ phones became delivery recorders; they no longer had to worry about unreasonable customers, because the local algorithm on their phones would automatically identify dispute scenarios. Upon identifying a dispute, it would proactively record the scene and upload it to the cloud, and the algorithm would automatically identify and give the delivery riders justice.

The most outrageous part was that delivery riderss would even get a higher personal score for casually picking up trash on the roadside, and then Tesla Food Delivery would issue a monthly spiritual civilization construction bonus.

Thus, bizarre scenes frequently appeared on the roads, with Tesla Food Delivery delivery riderss constantly picking up trash and even helping elderly grandmothers cross the street.

As for the personal privacy issues involved.

Thanks to the fact that Tesla’s user base was already a relatively open group, the algorithm gave a clear guarantee: image data was only recorded on demand, and all recorded data would be encrypted. For example, a delivery riders’s phone would not automatically record; instead, it would first identify disputes through audio. Only after a dispute was identified would recording begin, and it would also automatically pixelate the diner, regardless of whether the diner was being unreasonable.

For a positively reviewed order, the entire process would not record any data of the diner, not even a tiny bit.

Even if image data was recorded due to a dispute, it would be uploaded encrypted and automatically deleted immediately after the dispute was resolved.

These groups of people experienced modern life, improved by the algorithm, and found it could be so efficient and beautiful.
