Whole grain takeaway press conference 1Three days after meeting Lei Zi, Lin Yuan was caught off guard by news from Musk—the Coarse Grain Factory was also entering the food delivery industry.

WTF!!!

Lin Yuan simply couldn’t believe his ears.

”Why?” He couldn’t understand why the Coarse Grain Factory was joining in the fun, ”Lei Zi did mention it when he and I met, but I thought he was joking. Why would he do food delivery?”

”Guess,” Musk played coy on the phone.

”I’m not guessing, just tell me. You bastard.” Lin Yuan and Musk were already very familiar with each other.

”On the surface, it’s to cooperate with us in rectifying the food delivery industry, but in reality, they want to keep up with our pace in the AI field.”

Lin Yuan instantly understood.

Lei Buqun’s nickname was indeed well-deserved; you might think he was copying others’ business models, but in fact, what he cared about was securing a place in future competition.

”Elon, you really are a good person.”

”Why?”

”At least you’re an honest bastard.”

”I don’t quite understand.”

Lin Yuan then patiently explained, ”When Lei Zi and I met, he only casually mentioned the concept of an AI Manager. He expressed interest in it, but he didn’t press for too many details, nor did he focus the conversation on it.

Now that I’ve heard it from you, I can’t help but suspect the true purpose of his meeting with me.

He’s a pretty good person, but I still feel you’re more honest.”

”Of course, people from your place really like to beat around the bush. Fortunately, you’re not like that, otherwise, I’d fire you immediately, without hesitating for even a second.”

”Uh, you really don’t know how to be subtle at all. I’m going to write code now, goodbye, you bastard.”

Soon, the Coarse Grain Factory announced its plan to enter the food delivery industry.

”Setting standards for food delivery, benefiting delivery riderss and merchants.”

This was the slogan of the Coarse Grain Factory.

Subsequently, online public opinion exploded again.

Fans of the Coarse Grain Factory began to celebrate, reasoning that: Tesla would make food delivery so expensive that ordinary people couldn’t afford it, and would ruthlessly exploit the Chinese people. Lei Zi’s move was to protect the domestic food delivery industry and to benefit the vast number of domestic merchants and delivery riderss.

The opposing side, however, argued: Lei Zi is copying again, from mobile phones to ecosystems, then to cars. Now it’s food delivery. There’s nothing Lei Zi doesn’t dare to copy.

Both sides rolled up their sleeves and spewed various insults online.

But in reality, this kind of verbal sparring was very powerless, because neither side could convince the other. As for the general public, they simply stood by, eating melon seeds and watching the show.

Anyway, the public’s impression of the Coarse Grain Factory was almost solidified—always closely approaching the best company in the industry, and then using cost-effective products as an alternative to the competitor’s.

The internet was buzzing with arguments, but these people, who thought they were participating, actually had no idea of the Coarse Grain Factory’s true intentions.

With AI increasingly permeating all industries today, for the Coarse Grain Factory, it naturally cannot fall behind in the AI field.

Therefore, the Coarse Grain Factory’s actual intention is to closely follow Tesla’s footsteps, ensuring that it does not fall behind in future AI applications.

Only industry insiders like Lin Yuan knew these things.

It’s just that Lei Zi would hide his intention very deeply, completely concealing it beneath the facade of doing food delivery.

Therefore, Lin Yuan found the online discussions somewhat laughable. This was perhaps the ”carnival of mortals”—thinking they knew everything, when in fact they were merely tools for others to pull the wool over people’s eyes.

Lei Zi even called Lin Yuan specifically before announcing this news, and then, in a joking tone, expressed that they would also enter the food delivery industry, hoping everyone could cooperate to standardize the food delivery industry.

Regardless of what Lei Zi was thinking, Lin Yuan’s original intention was genuinely to standardize the food delivery industry.

If one were to disregard Lei Zi’s deeper intentions and only look at the surface, Lin Yuan could indeed cooperate with him.

So, Lin Yuan enthusiastically agreed to both parties’ wishes.

Lin Yuan even enthusiastically welcomed the Coarse Grain Factory’s entry on social media after Lei Zi publicly announced the news.

Lei Zi also genuinely paid tribute to Lin Yuan, stating that he contacted Lin Yuan immediately after having this idea, and confirmed the decision to do food delivery during his conversations with both parties.

Lin Yuan had to smile and accept Lei Zi’s tribute on the surface.

His feelings for Lei Zi were neither good nor bad. He even had a feeling: perhaps Lei Zi was the upper limit of business ethics in China.

No, perhaps it was already the upper limit of business ethics in the entire world.

Therefore, Lei Zi at least had some integrity and was genuinely promoting the progress of manufacturing.

At least he wasn’t like some once-famous billionaires who achieved wealth growth by selling concepts and shifting risks.

Thinking this, Lin Yuan once again felt: indeed, everything is a matter of comparison with peers. He even felt that Lei Zi’s image became radiant.

Lei Zi at least wouldn’t engage in double product standards for domestic and international markets, nor did he heavily invest in the financial industry after having abundant cash flow; instead, he continued to conscientiously work in manufacturing. He even risked half of his reputation to venture into cars.

Lei Zi did quite well with cars, immediately exposing the tricks of unscrupulous managers in the automotive industry. It turned out that with a mature supply chain, building cars didn’t require that much money.

After careful consideration, Lin Yuan increasingly found Lei Zi endearing.

So, he immediately called Lei Zi, ”CEO Lei, do you want to invite me to stand on stage at the Coarse Grain Factory food delivery press conference?”

”If you’re willing, I would, of course, be honored.”

Lin Yuan then truly stood on stage for the Coarse Grain Factory’s food delivery launch.

At the Coarse Grain Factory’s food delivery press conference, after Lei Zi outlined a grand vision, he announced, ”Now, allow me to solemnly introduce our mysterious surprise guest—Student Lin Yuan, the AI Technology Head of Tesla Food Delivery.”

Everyone in the audience at the press conference was stunned; the AI Technology Head of their biggest competitor had actually come to stand on stage.

Lin Yuan jogged out from backstage. He first looked back at the giant screen behind him, then at the vast crowd below the stage.

For a moment, Lin Yuan was a little excited.

”Actually, I’ve wanted to hold a product launch for a long time, but Elon wouldn’t approve it. So, I just had to come here to CEO Lei’s to get my fix.”

”Hahahaha~~~”

Lin Yuan’s first words made the entire audience burst into laughter.

Because his words had multiple meanings.

The implication: Tesla’s style doesn’t like such a large-scale event, subtly hinting at the Coarse Grain Factory’s tendency to put on a big show. Furthermore, it implied that Tesla Food Delivery was the pioneer, and Coarse Grain Factory Food Delivery was merely following suit.

”Student Lin Yuan is truly humorous. We still have many things to learn from you at Tesla. Our packaging will definitely not be a bare-bones house, and we will definitely include chopsticks with food delivery.”

Lei Zi was not to be outdone and quickly retorted.

Lin Yuan was speechless, because the image of Tesla’s bare-bones houses was truly deeply ingrained in people’s minds.

As for the joke about including chopsticks with food delivery, it was a recent online jest. Because according to Tesla’s style, they can even omit the turn signal stalk from cars and even implement screen-based gear shifting. So, what’s so strange about not including chopsticks with food delivery? Thus, everyone speculated: would Tesla’s food delivery really include chopsticks?

Netizens’ perspectives are always so peculiar.

Lin Yuan could only smile and say nothing. After the whole venue quieted down, he playfully said, ”Actually, I have the same idea as you all. My biggest dream is to install turn signal stalks on Tesla cars. The day I become Tesla’s Global Product CTO, I will also cancel the inhumane screen-based gear shifting.”

”Wait, stop quickly. Student Lin Yuan, we invited you to stand on our stage, not to undermine your own products. If you keep talking, I’m afraid Elon will come looking for trouble with me.”

Lei Zi playfully stopped Lin Yuan from elaborating further.
